My mother is a feminist. A die-hard, take no prisoners, true-blue feminist. Armed with a hard-won PhD., she has made her life's work the counselling of the transgendered, the gay and the sexually confused. Honest work in which she is passionately invested. The only fly in the ointment is me, her conservative daughter.
I am as passionate a conservative as my mother is a feminist. It's hard to imagine two more diametrically opposing viewpoints. I view the current state of feminism as doing more harm than good. As undermining the traditional and family values that I consider the backbone of our country. On the other hand, my mother considers conservative values as outdated, invalid, and as having absolutely no intrinsic value.

“CW2” is not just the rank of a junior Army warrant officer.
It’s common code for “Second Civil War”.
But what shall I take to the inaugural uproar and ruckus?
My bolt-action scoped 30-06 (classified by Rebecca Peters of the U.N. as a “medium range sniper weapon”)?
Or my ancient M1911A1 for close-in work?
Anyway, let the games begin. I abhor boredom.
;^)
Not to mention that we might get a chance to defend ourselves. That might be fun.
NO more calls, please.
We have a winner!
Remington 870 works for me.
Geez, I forgot my Remington 870.
Normally with walnut trap stock, extended fore-end & Cutts barrel. But easily converted to Pachmayr pistol grip & short legal barrel.
I then call it my “870 Python”. Good for serious social work.
;^)
So very true!
Amen.
I wonder how Nancy came to her conservative views. I would like her to write more about how she evaluated the values her mother obviously tried to instil in her and came to her own (opposite) conclusions.
I expect that there’ll be plenty of ‘opportunities’ for medium range sniper weapons.” No one can maintain a 300 yard perimeter forever.
For close-in, I’ll use the good old Benelli M1 Super 90 with slugs and 00 buck.
And the Rebecca Peters bit is telling. They want ‘em all.
Molon labe.
MOLON LABE!
Hey, wasn’t there a online pic of a good-looking gal taking dead aim, with that caption?
Kind of Greek lookin herself as I recall.

Not every woman who calls herself a feminist is a misandrist, but the two groups substantially overlap. I think that misandry is far more common than misogyny, but it is discussed far less often. It is as though our society does not know how to handle that particular form of bigotry. People just want to change the subject.
Usually, bigots are are so irrational that they lack the power to do much damage to the people they hate. That is not the case for a misandrist mother who hates her sons. She can do tremendous psychological damage.
To the other misandrists, no matter what your mother did, she is the real victim. Her sons oppressed her!
Good luck to your mother's kids, including any daughters. I hope they got out of the house before she ruined them.
WGBH Boston PBS was pretty quick to shut down the people posting CLIPS (not even full video) from the MLK assassination night concert that James Brown gave and was telecast to try to calm the black community with a message to remain calm and not riot and not give the authorities the excuse to crack some skulls (even when he invited some youth on stage who wouldnt LEAVE the stage, he told them to get off and not give the cops any reason).
That is a hell of a legacy and PBS wanted to supress it.
Youtube is pwned by the industry. You can host it but you may disappear into a gulag.
totally agree. I’m conservative, most other siblings father, are liberal. I just ask that we talk instead about sports, hobbies, cooking, music, anything but politics or religion. It just does no good to fight/argue about it. They will certainly not make me liberal, and I have to respect they have come to some conclusions I cannot change either. Also, my most common golf partner is a democrat, yet we never talk about it, are just fine being friends.
Sounds like The Terror Dream by Susan Faludi. And for the record, it doesn’t say that 9/11 was a conspiracy.
Would be interested in reading some conservative reviews of it.
Oh, and I don't think the violence will be limited to one city like in 1968, at least I think that was one city. So there will be plenty of opportunity to duct tape digital cameras to our rifle barrels as we take out the rioters who get on our lawns =o)
I once asked one of my wife’s uncles if he believed in the statement “from each according to their ability, to each according to their needs.” He thought about it for a minute, and then said “yes, I believe I do.” Mind you, this is a strongly Republican family, though he’s married into it like I have (it’s his wife that’s really from the strong Republican family).
Needless to say, I was shocked and amazed, to the point of nervous laughter. He was hardly taken aback when I revealed the source of the maxim.
Nice test of someones acumen!
I was rather proud of myself, at that moment, of coming up with it on the fly, in the conversation. I really, really wasn’t expecting the answer I got.
