Personally, I’d like to see JC Watts as VP candidate.

Not relevent to her qualification to be VP... but some interesting triva.... it is bound to come out anyway.. so I thought I would post it here....

http://www.wonkette.com/politics/sarah-palin/gilf-update-gov-sarah-palin-as-miss-wasilla-219635.php

Way back in 1984 — the Van Halen reality, not the George Orwell novel — Alaska’s new governor Sarah Palin was an Alaskan beauty queen. She would’ve been 18 or 19 at the time. The only problem with this great tale is that it appears she was in college in Idaho at the time. Meaning, it’s obviously true. Topless Alaskan beauty queens … hooray for America.

Wonkette operative “PN” says this is her portrait from those Golden Years. We say she’s still the best-looking politician in America … and remember, she’s a Maverick!

Well, considering that Hunter has no shot at all of being on top of the ticket (not because I wouldn’t want him to, but it’s a fact), the whole premise of this thread is busted. But, I think the name that you’ll see come up a LOT is Charlie Crist, the governor of Florida. He’s not the most conservative Pubbie, but his approval ratings are sky high in a state that absolutely MUST go red for us to have any chance of winning the White House.

I’d rather have Jeb Bush - my favorite governor even though I disagree wtih him and his brother on the issue of immigration, but I don’t think people want another Bush in the White House, at least not yet.

Great idea! But before we go picking VPs, we need to nominate a P. :)

I really, really think that Hunter has to first figure out how to be more than an asterisk in the polls before his supporters start thinking about who his veep candidate would be.

Great idea. Two people unknown to most Americans. That’ll work.

She’s great, but DH needs someone with more name recognition like Condi Rice.

I like her and I wouldn’t have a problem with her at all. To name a VP this early might get the media attention Hunter needs. Once people know about him I think his odds are better than most that they will vote for him. For those who are wanting a man that will strike fear into the hearts of the opposition, how about “The Nuge”? McCain just thinks he is a loose cannon and a maverick. heh

I like Huckabee as a VP. I like Brownback and Thompson too. I know they differ with him on a few issues, but I think they could come together or support Hunter.

There’s a reason the “republican elite” was against Palin.
Experience means results, as opposed to say anything that’s popular “populism”. My gut tells me Miss Beauty Queen is about to fall flat on her face, and turn Alaska into a banana republic where industry fears to invest.
Time will tell... but I think Alaskans have made a terrible mistake, and history will be much kinder to Frank Murkowski.

I think this is not the time for a woman on the Republican ticket. Last time would have been right(except that Cheney was really the only choice given the circumstances) or next time. As a reaction to the Democrats and Clinton, it is not good. Santorum was probably the best choice or a male governor (NOT Crist). The Republicans need this time around to be especially the picture of that "Daddy" party in contrast to the Democrat extreme mommies. We don't need to attract the Hillary! women. We need them to stay home rather than become a group to whom McCain thinks he owes his election.

On the plus side, given the increased chance that the VP will become P it will be good that the first female P would be Republican- so long as she is a Woman President the way Thatcher was a Woman Prime Minister. If she were to become president she would quickly face international crises that A man might well not have to deal with as the Russians and the Saracens move to test the Woman severely. Thatcher had her test in the Falklands. A President Palin would face the Russians invading Poland or the paynim nuking Rome.
