Idiots! No money changes hands, so the station gets a little (very little) advertisement value for offering a service to the public. It would make sense to expand the info to a variety of stations & not just because some people might get their knickers in a twist about having to listen to content they’re not interested in.

As one of the few here who has worked repairing several different radio stations after a disaster ( Hurricane Hugo ) I can say with a little firsthand knowledge that the moron calling for a station switch is completely nuts and putting the public in danger.

Almost every station but one here in Charleston was knocked off the air by the hurricane. In this case location didn’t matter as much as size and resources of the station as to who got back on the air first. In that case bigger was better. The larger outfits had several back up operations, systems, equipment, and more engineering personnel available and were back on the air within a couple of days broadcasting from their main locations.

Smaller stations of the type liberal radio would air on took several days to return to the air and that was from back up transmitters from alternate locations. Not the best thing for the public to rely on during an emergency.

Looking at their building at that link I don’t see them going off the air for long even in a major disaster.
