Democrats Vow to Gut Missile Defense
azconservative ^ | 7 Dec 2006 | John Semmens

Posted on 12/11/2006 8:14:34 AM PST by John Semmens

The incoming chairman of the Senate’s Armed Services Committee, Carl Levin (D-Mich), long a foe of missile defense, wants to dismantle the U.S. anti-missile defense system. The missile defense system traces its roots to President Reagan’s Strategic Defense Initiative. Levin opposed Reagan efforts in the 1980s and now wants to undo the program.

“Anti-missile systems are destabilizing,” said Levin. “It is our vulnerability to attack that reassures other nations that we will not be aggressors. If the United States is defenseless it cannot engage in imperialist wars against foreigners.”

Levin contends that the Ground based Missile Defense (GMD) system being installed in Alaska and California, to defend against North Korean missiles is provocative. “These defenses are terrifying to foreign leaders like Kim Il Jong,” Levin asserted. “The perception that we have a viable defense leads people to believe we could attack them. Exposing ourselves to incoming missiles would allay his fears and undermine his need for nuclear weapons.”

I think then that we should arm cops with candy-canes and little lamsie-dovsies.

We wouldn't want to terrify or provoke criminals into rash acts of violence by threat of guns in response.

This message brought to you by Lenin for Levin, 2006.

Let me get this right. Levin is saying that if we are more defenseless we are less likely to be attacked? What is happening to our country? What can we do to get it back? I can't believe this is what the people really want. If it is, God help us.

I'm assuming that this is parody? You should probably make it a little more clear. Not that it's that far from the truth, of course.

“Anti-missile systems are destabilizing,” said Levin.

That's some seriously cold war era thinking. Levin is such a fossil.

You guys have never visted his site before?
He's posted here before.

He's pretty good I think, and awfully funny in a dry way.

I like what he said about Clinton:

“Ho Chi Minh was the people’s choice,” Clinton said. “America’s interference with his efforts to unite his country was wrong. I’m glad I wasn’t a part of that travesty.”

I wish we had a lot more conservative satirists.

". . .said Levin. “It is our vulnerability to attack that reassures other nations that we will not be aggressors. If the United States is defenseless it cannot engage in imperialist wars against foreigners.”

OMG. . .Levin's logic board needs to be replaced. . .

With Democrats such as these. . .who needs enemies? WAKE-UP AMERICA! Dammit. . .

“Anti-missile systems are destabilizing,” said Levin.

That is an assertion with no observations in nature to back it up.

“These defenses are terrifying to foreign leaders like Kim Il Jong,” Levin asserted.

There are no foreign leaders like Kim Il Jong. There is only Kim Il Jong, who does not appear to be terrorized in the slightest.

Thanks to those CUT-AND-RUN " conservatives in this last election, we have a majority of these idiots now in control.

And we said all along, not voting or using your vote or non-vote to manipulate a party's direction has real and dangerous consequences!

These satire threads are best enjoyed when a portion of the respondents are replying as if the story is not made up. That's when you can tell it's great satire, when the believability factor is high enough to warrant incredulity.
