The incoming chairman of the Senates Armed Services Committee, Carl Levin (D-Mich), long a foe of missile defense, wants to dismantle the U.S. anti-missile defense system. The missile defense system traces its roots to President Reagans Strategic Defense Initiative. Levin opposed Reagan efforts in the 1980s and now wants to undo the program.
Anti-missile systems are destabilizing, said Levin. It is our vulnerability to attack that reassures other nations that we will not be aggressors. If the United States is defenseless it cannot engage in imperialist wars against foreigners.
Levin contends that the Ground based Missile Defense (GMD) system being installed in Alaska and California, to defend against North Korean missiles is provocative. These defenses are terrifying to foreign leaders like Kim Il Jong, Levin asserted. The perception that we have a viable defense leads people to believe we could attack them. Exposing ourselves to incoming missiles would allay his fears and undermine his need for nuclear weapons.

I think then that we should arm cops with candy-canes and little lamsie-dovsies.
We wouldn't want to terrify or provoke criminals into rash acts of violence by threat of guns in response.
This message brought to you by Lenin for Levin, 2006.
Let me get this right. Levin is saying that if we are more defenseless we are less likely to be attacked? What is happening to our country? What can we do to get it back? I can't believe this is what the people really want. If it is, God help us.
You got us!
(But I could easily see Levin saying it)
please tell me he didn't say this. please?
Keywords are our friend.
I'm assuming that this is parody? You should probably make it a little more clear. Not that it's that far from the truth, of course.
That's some seriously cold war era thinking. Levin is such a fossil.
You guys have never visted his site before?
He's posted here before.
He's pretty good I think, and awfully funny in a dry way.
I like what he said about Clinton:
Ho Chi Minh was the peoples choice, Clinton said. Americas interference with his efforts to unite his country was wrong. Im glad I wasnt a part of that travesty.
I wish we had a lot more conservative satirists.
it sounded fairly levin-esque.
BRILLIANT !
OMG. . .Levin's logic board needs to be replaced. . .
With Democrats such as these. . .who needs enemies? WAKE-UP AMERICA! Dammit. . .
That is an assertion with no observations in nature to back it up.
There are no foreign leaders like Kim Il Jong. There is only Kim Il Jong, who does not appear to be terrorized in the slightest.
Indeed. ..missed this!
Would blame it on Jet Lag but the reality is; the rediculous; is sublime for these Demrats. And so, easily beheld and believed. ..
These satire threads are best enjoyed when a portion of the respondents are replying as if the story is not made up. That's when you can tell it's great satire, when the believability factor is high enough to warrant incredulity.
Just imagine your next door neighbor feeling threatened because you have a security alarm and they don't.
Coulod you rephrase in Globish, please?
