Rudy Giuliani draws large poll numbers across the country and across the board. Although their combined RINO quotient is high and could spawn a third-party revolt if they got nominated, John McCain and Giuliani would be a dream team. That is, if one of these two egomaniacs could be persuaded to take the VP slot on the 2008 Republican ticket!
Despite his frankly left-wing takes on many social issues, I like his support of school vouchers as this product of parochial schools does the right thing to enable kids to escape dead-end public education, over-funded and under-delivering because of huge administrative costs and regressive union policies.
And this veteran of 9/11 will not flake out like the Democrats consistently do concerning national security. The only problem I have with Rudy is that Chris Mathews is so high on him! Probably that parochial school old-boy network!
Maybe for Holloween.
Shoot me now.
I can believe it, but the question is...who will be on the Republican ticket?
For the Democrats maybe this is the dream ticket
What you said.
If Mitt Romney doesn't run, kiss a Republican Presidency buh-bye...and maybe even if he does...
I much perfer the Rudy [he will draw the moderate to liberal wing in] and the Mr. Newt [he speaks to the hard core consertive wing] ticket. Yes, I do understand that both have problems in their past, but who does not!
More like nightmare, imo
Muck FcCain! He's the kind of nutjob that would let the whole country taken over. Still better than any elected Dimocrat, he is the very last Republican I would ever vote for.
Both men are such terrific egotists that neither would accept the second slot.
So there goes your dream of RINO Heaven.
McPain is a RINO and the new yorkers say Rudy is the same so why not elect demorats and get it over with?
Your crazy if you elect either one of these two....
The ticket from hell! Well, Giuliani I could stomach - but no way for McCain.
Nightmare is more like it.
Anyone want to chip in and charter a fishing trip? The Gulfstream is beautiful in November!
Rudy could spell 2nd Amendment trouble, tho no more than a Democrat would. And he has a history of being soft on illegal immigration. Rudy was in C-Span recently and was asked about immigration. His response was reasonable, in that he said that where he was sitting as mayor there was zero possibility of getting the feds to actually control the border - and the only thing he could do was try to manage the situation as it existed. He sounded entirely sensible - but then, tho I understand that others are impacted by illegal immigration, it simply has not affected me as a problem personally. Your mileage may vary.OTOH McCain is pure poison on the First Amendment, as bad as any Democrat. Freepers may or may not be walking arsenals - but FreeRepublic is all about exercising of First Amendment rights which McCain directly threatens. Whatever people are smoking that makes them think about political "speech" in a way that makes "campaign finance reform" seem honorable should definitely be illegal.
Rudy would be better than just about any Democrat you can name, and - leaving aside the personal issues which perhaps we should not leave out of the mix - may be the most electable Republican whose name is presently being bruited for '08. I like FR far too much to favor McCain for the nomination. And I question whether I'd be able to vote for him in the general if by some miracle the Democrats nominate someone I could respect as much as Guliani.
When the "Keating Five" scandal broke, McCain was desperate, but he found a way out. His escape was to put his gonads have been in the MSM's lockbox, and ever since then McCain has been a creature of "the MSM." If he ever got the Republican nomination he would face a Democrat who (since no liberal has any other consideration than getting good PR) was even more a creature of the MSM. The moment he got the nomination, therefore, McCain would lose his base of support in the MSM or else run to the left to try to compete for the support of the MSM.
What kind of a consevative would deliberately sign on for that??
He spoke here in PA. this past weekend and is a great speaker, he could use alot of milage on that gift....the thing I'm afraid of with Rudy is the second admendment...I am a gun owner, shooter...and I feel that is my right not a gift to bear arms....and I don't think I would take kindly to anyone trying to different on that subject, along with a few million other gun owners, shooters.
McPain, I will not in any way shape or form vote for...just won't do it, he is a pure bred RINO and I don't care if he was a POW, there have been many stories about that subject, but when he got with the gang of 13 that did it for me...I don't understand why the people in his state keep electing him...course I don't know why the people of Mass. keep electing drunk kennedy either...lol...
I would have to brush up of the Keeting mess, to know what it was all about...along about that time, I had babies and diapers and working and trying to keep a home with me and my babies...single mother...so I would have to read up on it...
You bring out some good points, I just won't vote for McPain...
LOL Hee hee.
OUCH!That too . . .
Don't worry about it; if (Heaven forefend) McCain gets the Republican nomination, the MSM will tell you more about it than you ever cared to know. And less.In reality, McCain was the senator who looked fifth-worst when Keating was caught buying influence with campaign contributions. The other four were Democrats, and the sixth-worst senator in that regard was also a Democrat. Hence, "Keating Five" - condemning enough senators to be able to include a Republican and make the scandal "bipartisan." And not a (Democratic) senator more.
