Ann Coulter was delivering a speech at the University of Connecticut when it was cut short by shouting demonstrators. Got that? Anti hate, anti intolerance groups cut off Ann Coulter's lecture because they hate her speech, and won't tolerate it
Typical. The people who most vigorously dry-hump the First Amendment are always the first to complain when anybody else wants a turn.
The demonstrators, students mostly by all appearances as evidenced by the attire and the clutching of daddy's credit card, were outraged.
Nineteen-year-old sophomore Eric Knudsen, the leader of a group called the "Students Against Hate", didn't think Coulter belonged on the campus.
This kid's wearing a paper trainee hat for future DNC office already. Check this out: "We encourage diverse opinion... but this is blatant hate speech."
::"Paging Mr. Eric Knudsen. Howard Dean on line two."::
Oh yes, Knudsen didn't even attend the speech.
Knudsen majors in journalism and social welfare-- "cause and effect" double majors if I ever saw them. Nice planning, kid.
"Students Against Hate"? There are only three certainties in life: Death, taxes, and any group with "against hate" in their name will consist of some of the most pissed-off, bitter, vile and angry pinheads with an exorbitant amount of free time ever to not get laid at college.
Hey, if you have time, attend one of Knudsen's "Youth Pride Inc." workshops. Check out the last sentence. (he needs to listen to his own seminar, obviously)
Get a load of this big, steaming pile of feelings:
Sexual Identity and Trauma: Healing Through Political ActionHopefully the ladies at the center will be impressed with how his group shouted down a girl. That's just so un-fabulous, Sunshine.Kathy Girod/Eric Knudsen
This workshop will explore sexual identity in the context of growing up in a less-than-perfect home environment. We will discuss how trauma and abuse can shape our coming out experiences and how we view ourselves as sexual people within intimate and close friend relationships.
The emphasis here is not on sharing details or memories but rather on discussing and understanding how the multiple identities of being queer and a survivor, in addition to our race and class identities, affect us in the present. We will also discuss ways in which becoming politically active can be helpful in healing ourselves and our community.
Kathy Girod is the Coordinator of the Rainbow Lounge/lgbt@mit at MIT. She also facilitates a Coming-Out group for LBT women at the Womens Center in Cambridge and sits on the board of The Network/La Red, and organization that works to end abuse in the Queer Community. She is also studying social work at Simmons College in Boston.
Eric Knudsen is pursuing a journalism and anthropology degree at the University of Connecticut. Eric is an educational coordinator for the Rainbow Center on campus to combat homophobia in the community, as well as an activist in QUAD (Queers United Against Discrimination). He is in the process of programming a childhood trauma and sexual abuse awareness day. Eric also works at the Womens Center for violence against women programs.
Ann got paid, the protestors got made.
can we POSSIBLY get the full size version of the photo in that article??
I too think its odd that a group against hate and intolerance would be so intolerant and hateful as to shout down a speaker...

They are tolerant. Tolerant of people who think exactly like them.
Rember this: There has never been and will never be a free society run by liberals/socialists/communists/Marxists/etc because their ideas cannot stand questioning and reality.
She was visibly ticked when she went on H&C right after her (almost) speech. She said someone turned up a boombox during the speech in order to drown her out. What a waste. Free exchange of ideas, right? She even gave UCONN a cut rate on her normal fee. Oh well, their loss.
And Ann got a little more MSM coverage, which is always nice.:)
That's Liberal Tolerance and Diversity for you.
An ANTI-HATE group shows off its hate. "A little irony is good for your bloody, deary", as the EC Comics witch used to put it.
I still remember a thread on FR that had a pic of a car
just about totally covered with bigoted liberal anti-Bush,
anti-Right stickers...and one of them (not far away from
"Bush is the only dope worth smoking") said "Your Hatred
Becomes You". Indeed.
