In a selfish and unprofessional move, Kanye West used a Red Cross benefit to benefit his own personal platform Friday night during the NBC Hurricane Katrina Relief program. West's comments were later cut from the program when aired on the West Coast airing.
NBC has issued a statement denouncing West's comments.
The American Red Cross has also issued a statement.
Juicee News has found a video of Kanye West during his rant. [West is also scheduled to speak at another fundraiser next week]
In a disgusting display, West strayed from his prepared script to offer an overflow of hatred from his mouth, taking the spotlight off of the matter at hand, turning the relief program into his own personal soapbox. Whether or not anyone agrees with Mr. West... it was clear that now was not the time to voice such harsh opinions
Just before being cut by NBC executives, West stated: "George Bush doesn't care about black people."
West appeared on-screen with comedian Mike Myers, who was obviously shaken by West's remarks. At one point Myers attempted to put an end to the tirade.
NBC beat him to the punch, cutting to a shot of actor Chris Tucker.
Other comments by West: "They're saying black families are looting and white families are just looking for food...they're giving the (Army) permission to shoot us..."

Mr West was in the news just a few days ago, on Saturday night:
"Rap mogul Shug Knight has been shot at a party hosted by Kanye West. he was apparently shot in the leg by an unknown assailant...
By Saturday night, everyone knew the storm was going to hit the coast. Perhaps he could have gotten his rappin' millionaire pals down to NOLA before the storm and offer help? Nooooo, they'd rather partay and beitch.
He did it for the publicity and he's getting that now.
Bump...
The local NBC affiliate had a visit to our local Red Cross call center (one of six handling last night's benefit, I believe). Their numbers said that of the 3200 people whose call was routed to that center before West's statement, 900 or so later called back to cancel their contribution.
Original - I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see a black family, it says, "They're looting." You see a white family, it says, "They're looking for food." And, you know, it's been five days [waiting for federal help] because most of the people are black. And even for me to complain about it, I would be a hypocrite because I've tried to turn away from the TV because it's too hard to watch. I've even been shopping before even giving a donation, so now I'm calling my business manager right now to see what is the biggest amount I can give, and just to imagine if I was down there, and those are my people down there. So anybody out there that wants to do anything that we can help -- with the way America is set up to help the poor, the black people, the less well-off, as slow as possible. I mean, the Red Cross is doing everything they can. We already realize a lot of people that could help are at war right now, fighting another way -- and they've given them permission to go down and shoot us!
Ridiculous. As so he thinks, so he is.
How many people turned off their TVs immediately, and didn't wait for any disclaimer? Austin Shrek should have said something, but he is probably so surprised he could only perceive that there was a problem and couldn't react to it...
Has anyone seen the the PBS tapes "The Black Holocaust." Revealing...
That's great! Thank you. I won't give to the Red Cross. All of mine are going through the Salvation Army. I just worry that jerks like this guy are going to negatively impact help to our friends and neighbors on the gulf coast.
These guys are just entertainers. A circus monkey can entertain. I wish they would just shut up for once.
" MY PEOPLE..." Hey, i thought we were all Americans.
This is so divisive and continues with the victim mentality.
Fine, then let the Red Cross come out and publicly denounce West's remarks. What's that I hear from the Red Cross?
<crickets>
No thnaks, I'll donate to the Salvation Army or one of the Christian charities. At least they won't spend my money buying themselves new computers and office furniture. So sorry that you and your corrupt gang of criminals at DNC HQ won't get your cut now.
Kayne West and the Democrat Black Congress are racists and the Red Cross kow tows to the Arabs by not allowing the Israeli Red Cross to join the Internation Red Cross, but allows the weapon smuggling Islamic version to join.
Give generously through the faith-based charities, as most of the victims are true believers.
What word?
I mean,
The looting thing I can see,
but I too am getting tired of being called a "bad" guy
by idiots who think they are permanent victims....
No matter WHAT happens.
Grow up and get a brain.
Oh yeah,
IBTZ!
A Word to the wise Charitable contributions are like taxes the closer you can keep them to home the more control you have over how they are spent. I live in a small city in VA several local church's including the one I attend have become donation centers. My church will be sending our relief to a sister congregation in the ravaged area for dispersal to the needy.
I don't care one bit about any "looting" when people were attempting to get food and/or water, but stealing guns and bikes and tv's is just beyond pathetic.
For you or anyone to say that nothing was being done is showing extreme ignorance. It was a huge effort to coordinate a relief effort and each more and more people were showing up out of hotels and buildings and homes. They weren't just trying to rescue 20,000 at the Superdome, but from all over the area. Hospitals, nursing homes, private homes, etc. For you to agree with a racist like this rapper puts you on the wrong board
I have to applaud Mike Meyers for remaining as professional as possible while this happened. The look on his face when that turdhead next to him said "George Bush doesn't care about black people" was priceless, though. I wonder what Mike told him after the plug was pulled on the camera.
