There's an old topic by this name, and it seems like it would be of some interest in casual moments.
Is this the one with Ringo Starr and Peter Sellers? I saw this on TV uncut thru some Canadian station that was, for a while, able to be picked up in the Detroit area. I remember that 2 guys from Monte Python were writers for it.
mmmmmm .... seems to me that someone with a Apple laptop, without a network connection, could upload a virus into the mainframe of an alien spaceship from millions of light years away was pretty original. Stupid and impossible, but original.
Zarqawi The Hidden Imman
Thanks for the compliments, BTW ;)
Suprised that nobody mentioned the best, imo, SCI-Fi movie of all time:
The Day the Earth Stood Still
If it doesn't exist, it should. And if he still exists, soon he won't.
Actually, you're not alone. In fact, [as a woman screams in the background] WE'RE NOT ALONE!!!

I mentioned it in post # 143!
Klaatu barada nikto!
Guess I should read a little slower. Definitely a great film!
A classic!
"If it doesn't exist, it should. And if he still exists, soon he won't."
Couldn't pass that one up.
Love that show - have a bunch of them on VHS from Sci-Fi Channel Marathons. Fun to play "how did they spend the 50 bucks this week?" :)
One or two clunkers, but mostly thought-provoking stuff. Too many good ones to mention.

Muttly making mess in Aisle 9.
I agree with you, RightWingAthiest. Carpenter had to know that he could not come close to competeing in the overlapping dialog/character department. Which is probably why he went overboard on the special effects and kept the dialog to a minimum.
"The Thing From Another World" is a Stand~Alone Textbook Classic that has yet to be surpassed for Atmosphere, Style and Dialog.
Pay attention to the scene wher The Thing is dowsed with kerosene and touched with a Flare Pistol. The flames surrounding The Thing is the only lighting used and it still makes people jump!
Jack.
I mentioned that one too (Day the Earth Stood Still). :)
Think this one was mentioned too, but I like Sean Connery.
Outland
I'll vouch for how good I Am Legend is...haven't read it in years, but I surely did like it....Omega Man was a good flick, but not good enough interpretation of it.
The Day the Earth Stood Still.
Me, too,every time.
