Hello. I am a college student that has gotten interested in politics within the last few years. I come from a long line of independants who raised me to vote for whom I agree with the most, not based on party affiliation.
Last night, I attended a performance of Margaret Cho in Indianapolis. One of the last things she mentioned was all of the hatemail she recieved from members of Free Republic. I couldn't believe what I was hearing. Surely this has to be a joke. So when I got home, I read the hatemail on her website. Then I logged onto this site and read some more. It wasn't a joke.
Call me naive, but it seems to me that Margaret Cho is so "hateful" because, like me, she is angry and doesn't understand why people are so afraid of giving others equal rights. If gays and minorities contribute to the workforce, pay their taxes, and want to enjoy the rights that other Americans (straight whites) do, why shouldn't they be allowed that? What are conservatives so afraid of? It was interesting to me that when posters had no legitimate argument, they resorted to making comments about Cho's weight and race as a negative, which reminds me of how sixth graders behave. I was disgusted with the comments posted by the members, and it saddened me that these people are probably teaching their own kids racism, homophobia, and bigotry at home.
Please explain to me, without being so racist, bigoted, and just plain nasty as you were about Ms. Cho, why so many conservatives feel that it's perfectly fine to limit the rights of people they don't identify with, why it's okay for pharmacists to refuse contraceptives base on their own opinions, and why you believe that it's okay for Dubya to limit choice, freedom, and continue to make it easier for corporations to harm the environment.
It doesn't make sense to me, how seemingly intelligent people are so adament about taking a step backward. I would like to hear your thoughts, since I only have one Republican friend, and the only thing he'll say is that he's a Republican b/c his dad is, and that he's just against partial birth abortion.
P.S., I would especially like to hear from those of you who wrote the hatemail to Margaret Cho, because I am interested in what you have to say about this...
G.M. Young
you area student in higher education, please list all of the rights that are denied to gays, lesbians, minorites and illegal aliens.do your research and you will find that they not only have the same rights as everyone else, but demand even more
Why do liberals feel it's perfectly okay to limit the rights of gun owners, Christians, and land owners?
I'd try to explain it to you ... but from what you just wrote here, you're too brainwashed to understand it, so I won't bother.
Margaret Cho is not worth wasting verbiage on. She's an angry, twisted individual who cannot comprehend that just because she's gay, she is not entitled to be famous or respected.
And that distills the argument that most of us have the gay lobby. So someone is gay - that does not entitle them to any special privileges, nor do they have the right to force "acceptance" down the throats of those who religious or moral perspective says such behaviour is wrong. What we are seeing at present is the browbeating of the public, trying to force matters - one can't look at popular culture without seeing some celebration of "gay life", such as it is. Meanwhile, people of faith are demonised, ridiculed and called by the likes of Margaret Cho, intolerant. One wonders where their tolerance is.

I think she meant that something was in her Depends.
How can you possibly identify comments on another web site as coming from "posters at Free Republic"?
The membership of this site is what, approaching 200,000 people? Who says everyone here is "conservative" (Except for DU and the liberal lefties, of course)
Posters get posting privileges here with almost no background check by the mods for their bona fides. Like you, for example?
Welcome to Free Republic. BTW- hate your nic because of the derogative female term. Suggests you don't think much of yourself, either.
Check this out.
Got a feeling inside
Can't explain
It's a certain kind
Can't explain
I feel hot and cold
Can't explain
Way down in my soul, yeah
Can't explain
I said
Can't explain
I'm feelin' good now yeah but
Can't explain
Dizzy in the head and I'm feelin' blue
The things you've said well maybe they're true
I'm gettin' funny dreams again and again
I know what it means but
Can't explain
Think it's love
Try to say it to you
When I feel blue
But I can't explain
Can't explain
Yeah hear what I'm sayin' girl
Can't explain
Dizzy in the head and I'm feelin' mad
The things you've said have got me real mad
I'm gettin' funny dreams again and again
I know what it means but
Can't explain
Think it's love
Try to say it to you
When I feel blue
But I can't explain
Can't explain
Forgive me one more time now
Can't explain
I said I can't explain, yeah
You drive me out of my mind
Yeah I'm the worrying kind, babe
I said I can't explain!
Yes there are a few idiots here- but they are the minority, and are dealt with harshly if they do it on this site.
Go to Democratic Underground, MoveOn.org or any liberal website if you want to see some REAL filth.
If you have any trouble with that, please go to Democratic Underground. They share Cho's distaste for facts and political prejudices. You'll feel quite comfortable, there.
Congressman Billybob
Please cite where you found anti-Cho "hatemail" here.
Oh, I thought you couldn't.
Good morning Sam's Army nice to see you here before the ZOT. Some people just don't get it.
Ms. Young, I agree with you. Homosexuals should get married; after all if two consenting adults want to get married why should they be stopped? I mean for the longest time I wanted to marry my sister, and she feels the same way. We both contribute to society; she's a psychologist at a college, and I'm a teacher. This would be a match made in heaven; no one knows her better than I do. Maybe after a few years of marriage we can find a consenting adult cousin and marry her to us then we will be one big happy family. Our kids would be brought up to respect any type of marriage union so long as those involved are happy. Wouldnt that be just peachy keen???
Not a bad effort at trolling, by the way. It required more effort and a higher level of writing skills than the average troll exhibits.
Now head on over to the Dummie playground to brag about your brief stay here.
I have never written hatemail to that fat whiney bitc#.
At least it had a shift key and punctuation. Must of stole the keyboard from a conservative!
Sending a smart troll is a new tactic. Where did they find a smart one at the DU?
