Since the election of 2004, conservative radio talk show host Michael Savage has focused his energy and talent on bashing the war in Iraq, ridiculing President Bush and lashing out at Rush Limbaugh.
Savage, who draws over 10 million listeners a week to his radio talk show, "The Savage Nation", is conducting a smear campaign on Republicans and the war that Michael Moore would be damn proud of.
On Tuesday nights show, Savage alleged that troop morale was declining amongst those serving in Iraq. He charged that the war in Iraq is a "disaster" and that no one, including the troops, knows why we are in Iraq.
He has repeatedly said that the U.S. would lose the war in Iraq and that he has "visions of the last American helicopter leaving Baghdad," reminiscent of the U.S. withdrawal from Vietnam.
His armchair strategy for Iraq is to "bomb Iraq into the stone age."
In an obvious attempt to bolster his ratings, which are very weak in the Los Angeles market, Savage has made it a point to, adolescently, call Rush Limbaugh names, such as "Hush Bimbo" or "Mr. Gulfstream". Savage criticizes Rush for backing the President and towing the Republican line.
Savage, who has gained popularity for decrying liberalism as a form of mental illness, seems to have a lot in common with the lefties.
Here are some opinions that Savage and Moore share-
War in Iraq was for oil.
Believes the U.S. is losing the war in Iraq.
Criticizes Bush, Rush, Bill O'reilly and other conservative media regularly.
Claims that troop morale is low.
Called for Wolfowitz' arrest for planning the Iraqi invasion.
Has said Condi Rice is "unqualified to be secretary of state"
Besmirches Rumsfeld, Powell, and Cheney often.
Calls the U.S. presence in Iraq an "occupation" and states that the Iraqi people do not want democracy or freedom.
Rips Rudy Guiliani, Tom Ridge, Newt Gingrich and all Republican supporters.
Not a supporter of the War on Terrorism.
HundredPercenter has no problem, whatsoever, with Savage's tirades and his use of freedom of speech. However, Savage's insatiable desire for higher Arbitron ratings has resulted in recognizable jealousy of Rush Limbaugh's #1 rated show. Furthermore, his jealousy has caused him to propagate lies, with regards to the war in Iraq and troop morale, in an attempt to draw listeners.
The fact of the matter is,we are winning the war in Iraq and it is of utmost importance to drive that message home, in order to keep morale high.
Mr. Savage, I would like to pose a direct question to you.
Is your avarice for higher ratings and money so great that you must now resort to lying about U.S. troop morale being low? And if so, when did the liberals in your home city of San Francisco persuade you into believing such an outrageous lie?
In closing, I would like to share a letter that I recently received from a good friend, a Marine, stationed in Fallujah.
Hey everyone, I just want to let you all know that I am doing well here in Iraq. I am sure that you are all worried about me but I assure you that I am well and in good hands. As you know much has been occurring here in Iraq and this has been the reason for our phones and internet being cut off. I will try to reach out to all of you as soon as I can. The Marines are in good spirits and we are kicking ass. I love you all and miss each and everyone of you. Talk to you as soon as I can.
Put the Arbitron ratings report down Mr. Savage.
I read an article the other day about how some conservative talk show hosts with nothing to talk about plan on eating their own. Guess their source must have been Michael Savage.
Boo! Don't make the mistake of taking Savage too seriously. Enjoy him for the entertainer he is.
I tried to listen to this guy but he will not last in the long run on the national scene. His show gets old and his opinions lately have been idiotic. This guy could be certifiable.
I am sure his audience will continue to erode.
Maybe it's time for someone to remind Savage that if there were no Rush, he would still be recalling the Latin names of 20,000 plant species.
THAT's the truth!
lol Savage is reading this column right now on air and commenting!
Savage is challenging you to go on his show... Please put him in his place!
Left out Glenn Beck...
And what is wrong with doing that you moron?
I agree he is entertaining at times. Also, that he is totally mis-informed at other times. Sometimes, right on. But, underneath it all, I believe he is a troubled soul. He just refuses to believe in anything good.
His continuing tirade against/cruel satire of Rush is plain pathetic. In return, Rush is totally ignoring the whole thing demonstrating how unimportant Savage is. He has made himself unimportant.
He may be manic-depressive, usually manic but I've heard the depressive end of it. What I definitely do not like is his gratuitous ridicule of callers; he is totally uncivil.
In other words, I would love to have lunch with gentleman Rush but dread the thought of sitting down with Savage.
"Reality radio," huh? Guess I missed the boat.
Also, whatever he thinks of the war, who cares? His blatherings about strategy are demoralizing to the troops, the very same troops he said last week he loves and honors more than anything. Well, questioning the war the way you do, Mikey, is not the way to love and honor our BRAVE HEROES! DO YOU HEAR ME? DO YOU HEAR ME?
I used to like Savage, but have stopped listening to him. I heard him say the other day that it was all about getting a rise out of people for the ratings. It was off the cuff and I don't know if he even meant to be that transparent. Regardless, it confirmed what I thought - he is just trying to be controversial, contradictory and aggressive to gain numbers. My guess is that it is backfiring...
Michael, is that you?
I used to listen to you regularly but over the last year I have been listening to you less frequently. Your ego has grown out of control and the bashing of fellow conservatives is coming across as pathetic and making you look like a jealous dolt. You used to report news complete with solid facts along with common sense hyperbole. Now, all you seem to be spouting is hyperbole that does not pass the smell test.
I hope you take some time (soon) to examine yourself, identify where you went wrong and regain your edge.
I will tune in every so often with the hope that you are back.
He looks to be in poor health as well.
