It's not completely off topic to bring McCain into the debate on this particular issue, but there is so much controversy about McCain and his activities, that the thread is apt to become more about McCain than it would be about Kerry.

And yes, there should be no "sin of omission" in regards to McCain, but don't overlook the complicity of Kerry.

McCain is disliked as much as Kerry in some circles (maybe more) and personally I'm not going to defend the guy in any way.

To put Kerry and McCain on the Senate Select Committee and call it bipartisan.........right.

Feingold has his money all lined up to fit right into the bill he cosponsored. There are promising sounding rumors that the RNC is going to throw some money into the race to counter it.

Feingold, pencil necked geek from the midwest's socialist stronghold, Madison. He seems to be more interested in the power than the perks, though he fashions himself on the maverick tradition of Proxmire, the Senator who used to get reelected on campaigns that cost a couple of hundred bucks. If Feingold wins this year, watch for him to put his hat in for the WH in 2008.

If they see it as one repub and one dem, point out Zell Miller and ask them if he's as good a democrat as McCain is a republican.

I'm not surprised at any of this. The corruption of those
on the political left is boundless but believable.

I have no doubt about his conclusions. President Clinton was well known for having no respect or caring for our military members past or present. Hanoi John has shown numerous times his utter contempt for our military. Both would have no qualms about betraying our military POWs and their families for personal gain.

Kerry's been AWOL for a long time. Just collects his $$, doesn't show up most of the time.

… how do I tell my liberal co-workers that Kerry is responsible and McCain is not?

McCain is not without responsibility either. His record concerning the hunt for POWs is anything but sterling.

Same here. I usually finish up my posts around 8 or 9 at night (Eastern), and check again around 5:30 AM – and all I see is the response to trolls and deletions. Guess I’ll have to get up around midnight to read the “good” stuff and use my flames and kitty pics.

McCain isn't the issue, he is not running for President. That's the easiest way to dismiss his involvement while highlighting F'n Kerry's lack of work on the POW/MIA issue. Tell your lib "co-workers" the real issue is charecter, and Kerry is the one legged man in an ass kicking contest when measured against the President.

Just to flesh out the record, here is the full text of a subsequent question and the answer by "NavyChief" on the other board...

QUESTION: This is really hard to digest.
Why wouldn't those 12,500 families as a group demand that this story be told and force the issue to be heard and obtain their closure.
Is it so different from those 9/11 wives?

What authority level in this Joint Commission did Kerry hold?

ANSWER: The families are not all in one group. There are many different organizations that we dealt with. Some of the larger groups did protest, but no one knew what really happened. We were not at liberty to discuss the issue at the time.

Some of the groups protested to Clinton -- but you know that fell on deaf ears. And, we never got the list to verify the names. We had no clue which families had been affected.

If you will recall, Kerry was the Chairman of the Senate Select Committee on POW/MIA. There were ugly rumors that he destroyed documents which was against our mandate -- all our documentation was to be made public as much as possible.

This all came about when President Yeltsin approached Bush Sr and said we should work together to bring a full accounting of the wars past. Yeltsin gave Bush the black box for the Korean airliner that the Russians shot down as a goodwill gesture. Then he testified in front of Congress that a good possibility still existed that live American POWs were being held in Russia. That is when a Presidential Commission was formed and two Senators (Republican/Democrat), two Congressmen (Republican/Democrat), and various officials of the STATE Department, DOD, CIA and the National Archives were appointed to Commissioners of this Commission. The Russians reciprocated with Russian Generals from all their services to work jointly on these issues. The Commission still exists today. Shortly after Clinton took office, our Commission was reaffirmed to continue the Presidential work and Kerry was the senior Commissioner due to his party's being in control of the Executive Branch. The Commission was headed by Ambassador Malcolm Toon. All the Commissioners were to report to him, and he in turn would report to the President. This worked under Bush Sr, but failed miserably under President Clinton.

President Bush made accounting of POW/MIAs the Nation's Highest Priority. Yet, Clinton downgraded that to "One of the Nation's Highest Priorities". Environmental issues were placed in a higher priority.

I could go on and on but hopefully this gives you some insight as to how this came about.

Working with Senator Kerry four years in the POW/MIA Office left me thinking -- when did the man ever do any work?

...

The question asked should not be "when the man ever did any work" (although he has got to be one of the laziest people around) but why he is even in any public office, feeding off the taxpayer trough?

Kerry should be in jail, not running for President.

Have we ever - aside from bill clinton - ever had such a disgraceful traitor run for President?
