Dear Free Republic Friends,
My old friend and brother-in-arms BADJOE has promised to warm the cockles of our hearts by publishing an expose (the truth about JimRob and Free Republic according to Joe) on the 18th of this month, which represents the one year anniversary of the date he last posted to FreeRepublic.com and started up with LibertyPost.org.
So, as I believe that only the truth can set you free, and based upon the stratergery of pre-emptive strike, I have a confession to make (before BADJOE makes it public):
I have poisoned the well.
By my sly innuendos behind the scenes.
By my intellectual ineptitude.
By not trusting those that brung me to the dance to bring me home.
By my biting every hand that fed me.
By my arrogance that causes me to think I did it all by myself.
By my stubborness not because of principle, but because of my lack of ability to see what is transpiring.
Evidenced by:
One would think that with half again as many Freepers. with a recovering economy, It would take a great deal less time to raise the necessary funds.
By this time in the June 2002 effort with a goal of $70,000 we had raised $73,000. Not because of who did the fundraising, but because the sense of purpose, of family, of comaraderie, was still present.
BADJOE rang the warning bell, but none heard.
Conclusion:
It is a sad day.
For what was once a great hope, a means of bringing together those who are willing to pay dearly in blood, sweat, and money to save this country, we all love, has been reduced to an asterisk.
So sayeth BADJOE as he promises to publish all this and much more on the 18th. He's been feverishly working on this "project" for one full year. In addition to the "truth about JimRob" BADJOE intends to further betray our trust placed in him by revealing the names of our moderators. And who knows what else?
I can hardly wait.
Is it the 18th yet? Tick, tock.
From what I remember about BADJOE, he seemed like a good egg. There's something disturbing about a thread like this attracting so many negative posts about a good person. I wonder if all the folks posting negative things about BADJOE here even know who he is.

I've decided that, whatever those problems might be, this is still the best and fastest news site on the planet.
You might look around today and discover that conservatism is in serious jeopardy. The last thing we need, after Rush's fall from grace today, is to injure another source of conservative news and comment. Despite your own feelings about the Calif. campaign, it did highlight some stress fractures in the conservative movement.
Here's what I decided about the Religion Forum.
When the big religious news of the past few months hit mainline news -- the ten commandments, the episcopal/gay issue (catholic gay issue, too), and religious concerns over the Calif elections -- there was not one effort whatsoever to filter that religious based news. It was on the Breaking News, Frontpage, Extended, Editorial, etc.
I discovered there are a HOST of Christians out there who have nothing to do with the religious forum AT ALL.
So.
I stand in support of Free Republic.com. I did start giving it my money again.
Wisdom should dictate that you do, too.
Wrong again..try the farm bureau ;-)
Saw her yesterday loading up on the hoof mender.
There's something disturbing about defending a nutcase who's so bitter about being banned from FR that's he's been stewing about it every day for over a year, meticulously planning his "revenge." Man, talk about having no life. As I mentioned, rubber-room material.BadJoe is a great guy. I love him like a brother, always will. And he's done a lot of great things for Free Republic. He's also a patriot who loves his country dearly. He's just currently a little upset with me because we disagree on some political issues and also because he doesn't like some of the moderators. I'm sure that's ballooned into many othe dislikes by now.

I don't want to alarm you but he said something about booking a fortnight in Acapulco...
Moderator's ID could be preserved as trade secret, IMO. The person who values the secret has to intend secrecy, and take measures to preserve the secret (basically tell on a "need to know basis" and obtain contractual agreement to not tell). As a practical matter for FR, I'm not sure of the financial damage if the "secret" is disclosed.
Careful with the blanket condemnation of lawyers. ;-)
A+Bert is one of the Admin Mods... be carefull ;0)
Good - I'm tired of being accused of being one. I've actually had folks feepmail me and ask me to remove posts.
Think about it - if you ran a political discussion website, would you ask me to be a mod? It's just plain silly.
Just his sanity.
Hey, give me some credit. I didn't trot out that tired old "50,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean" joke that has a beard and a cane.
