From what I remember about BADJOE, he seemed like a good egg. There's something disturbing about a thread like this attracting so many negative posts about a good person. I wonder if all the folks posting negative things about BADJOE here even know who he is.
Excellent question.

I understand your point.
Like I said, it is his actions we take issue with, not him personally.
What I know of him (aside from the dramatics over the spilt) I can honestly say I like him, even admire him in some ways. But this is stupid and I will call it like I see it.

I donated to Free Republic during this freep-a-thon for the 1st time in about a year. Many of you who are close to me know that I had withheld my money because of problems I had with the way the Religious Forum was run.
I've decided that, whatever those problems might be, this is still the best and fastest news site on the planet.
You might look around today and discover that conservatism is in serious jeopardy. The last thing we need, after Rush's fall from grace today, is to injure another source of conservative news and comment. Despite your own feelings about the Calif. campaign, it did highlight some stress fractures in the conservative movement.
Here's what I decided about the Religion Forum.
When the big religious news of the past few months hit mainline news -- the ten commandments, the episcopal/gay issue (catholic gay issue, too), and religious concerns over the Calif elections -- there was not one effort whatsoever to filter that religious based news. It was on the Breaking News, Frontpage, Extended, Editorial, etc.
I discovered there are a HOST of Christians out there who have nothing to do with the religious forum AT ALL.
So.
I stand in support of Free Republic.com. I did start giving it my money again.
Wisdom should dictate that you do, too.

There's something disturbing about defending a nutcase who's so bitter about being banned from FR that's he's been stewing about it every day for over a year, meticulously planning his "revenge." Man, talk about having no life. As I mentioned, rubber-room material.
BadJoe is a great guy. I love him like a brother, always will. And he's done a lot of great things for Free Republic. He's also a patriot who loves his country dearly. He's just currently a little upset with me because we disagree on some political issues and also because he doesn't like some of the moderators. I'm sure that's ballooned into many othe dislikes by now. 'Heaven has no rage like love to hatred turned, Nor hell a fury like a FReeper scorned'

What bothers me is that Badjoe had my credit card number in several fundraisers. I don't want to alarm you but he said something about booking a fortnight in Acapulco...

As usual, Jim, sounds like the malcontents need to stuff it in the toilet or some such.

Thank you very much, Nancy!!
Freepers truly are great people! I am proud to be associated with so many fine people! Thank you all for making Free Republic the very best home on the Net for conservatives and America loving patriots!
God bless you all, and may God continue to bless America!

I don't even know that the moderator's identities could even be considered a "trade secret" - I am not a lawyer ... Moderator's ID could be preserved as trade secret, IMO. The person who values the secret has to intend secrecy, and take measures to preserve the secret (basically tell on a "need to know basis" and obtain contractual agreement to not tell). As a practical matter for FR, I'm not sure of the financial damage if the "secret" is disclosed.
Careful with the blanket condemnation of lawyers. ;-)

Give them a break - BadJoe's actions are hard to understand and some folks are upset.
Some might even take this personally - as we choose to associate with Jim and FreeRepublic.

In addition to the "truth about JimRob" BADJOE intends to further betray our trust placed in him by revealing the names of our moderators.Good - I'm tired of being accused of being one. I've actually had folks feepmail me and ask me to remove posts.
Think about it - if you ran a political discussion website, would you ask me to be a mod? It's just plain silly.
To: Scutter
Not saying he's not a great guy, and certainly not questioning his patriotism.
Just his sanity.
To: Cboldt
Careful with the blanket condemnation of lawyers. Hey, give me some credit. I didn't trot out that tired old "50,000 lawyers at the bottom of the ocean" joke that has a beard and a cane.
