Vanity: Is protecting Constitution no longer goal of Freerepublic.com?
Me
Posted on 02/28/2003 10:03:14 AM PST by libertylady
I have recently noticed that the home page of Free Republic no longer has the icon at the top which states that one of the goals of this website is protecting our freedom and our Constitution. Can anyone help me shed some light on this? I would hope that this is a temporary change and not an official declaration made by the staff of this website. With the lack of articles and lack of alarm posted on this website about the Draconian Patriot 1 and Patriot Act 2 I have began to wonder about whether this site really does support the Constitution.

And, in the meantime, you surrender it all back to the Democrats and socialists. If the GOP continues to move left-authoritarian, as more and more conservatives turn a blind eye toward their disregard of the Constitution, the destination is ultimately the same.

I didn't say it did. But you still have to choose the better candidate.
Or you can stand there waving a piece of paper announcing "Principle In Our Time".

here in the south, it is the opposite, you have people registering as Dems, although they are Republicans, to get votes. But at least here in GA, all of that is changing hee hee hee (rubbing hands together)

As long as you continue allowing the Democrats to have their way, yes, the slide continues. My thoughts exactly.
(only I don't think democrats are limited to the democratic party)

I have a question. Starting about three weeks ago I found that I have to log in each time I access the FR. Can you offer any ideas on why this is? In the past once I logged in, I stayed that way until I logged out, or when perodically FR would require everyone to log back in.
Many Thanks,
Axel

It's the majority that matters. The Democrats (representing the left, liberals, socialists, marxists, et al) have held the majority for what 70, 80 years out of the last century? It's time to take it back from them and hang on to it for as long as possible.

Whether or not the people of a state vote to legalize drugs is no concern of mine. I would vote no if it comes up on my ballot. However, I am adamantly opposed to swat raids, no knock warrants, illegal searches, illegal phone taps, violations of privacy, roadblocks, asset forfeiture, etc., etcAs am I but that is not good enough for the true believers. They want a strong central government tht would forbid your state from enacting drug and pornography laws.

Oh, I completely agree.. 100%
The American people (and maybe some divine intervention also) gave us all three branches of the government! No more pipe dreaming, the chance is finally at hand, and I am optimistic.
My comment wasn't in reference to the site itself, the goals of the site or the position of the party in general. We're all good there so far. Things are looking up.
It was in reference to how so many issues showcased here seem to wind up (by the end of the thread) framed in regard to "Pro-Bush" Vs "Anti-Bush" as opposed to "Pro-Constitution" or "Pro-Freedom"
Some of it just reminded me of the pre-primary election flamewars we used to have here. That's all I meant.
Regards.

As your reply is an utter non-sequitur, As any CASUAL obsever of the Fox Network program Cops will attest (as will those who do ride-alongs with their local cops) - THOSE people having brushes with THE LAW are MOST OFTEN the ones with DRUG and LIFESTYLE 'problems'. You don't understand that? (Maybe you have BIGGER personal problems than can be solved here on FR ... I would recommend you get right with Jesus first.)
BTW - So far you have been weak in your 'bobbing and weaving' ...

anti-"War On Drugs" ==> "pro-drugs" I wonder how your Boolean logic would apply to me. I am vehemently against the WOD as an anti-Constitutional endeavor. However, I also strongly favor flooding the drug market with lethally poisonous 'look-alike' drugs to kill the druggies.

If I may reply, and hopefully Jim Robinson will too since obvioiusly he'd know better, but have you checked which "way" you're logging into FR when you do?
There are different "security settings" when you log in, one is the "Convenient", which is what I use. In that way, when you log onto FR, you'll stay "logged on" (unless you clear out your cookies), like "usual". You may be logging in with some of the "higher" security settings; at least it sounds like to me.

Oh my, what is that?
Is that irony I hear?
