Teenager Shot By Drug Agents Dies
14-Year-Old Taken Off Life-Support

SAN ANTONIO -- A teenage girl who was shot by Drug Enforcement Administration agents died Tuesday night at Wilford Hall Medical Center.
Ashley Villarreal (pictured, left), 14, was taken off life-support equipment after she was declared brain dead from a gunshot wound she suffered to the back of her head late Sunday night.
DEA officials and San Antonio police officials said that agents fired four rounds at a car Villarreal was driving because the vehicle was speeding toward them and they suspected the girl's father, a suspected drug dealer, was in the vehicle trying to get away. Joey Angel Villarreal, who was the subject of surveillance that night, was not in the car with his daughter. He ended up turning himself in to authorities Monday.
"It was no mistake," said Daniel Robles, a family friend who was in the car with the teen. "It was no accident."
Robles said the agents were not wearing rain gear during the surveillance and claimed that they allegedly boxed in Villarreal's car and opened fire.
"These are professionals," Robles said. "There's nothing professional about this."
Law officers declined to respond to Robles' version or to discuss details of the case Tuesday, citing a pending investigation.
Robles, who was with family members when they said they last goodbyes to the teen, said he promised her that his version of the story will come out.
"Ashley's dead. They took her life. Nothing's gonna bring it back," Robles said.
Good question, but a 14 year old driving a car without a license isn't a capital offense.
In Worcester, I'd be more afraid of drunks---especially drunken underage college kids.
I try and examine all angles.
Was she possible in reverse, speeding towards them in reverse, in panic, and took a round in the back of the head?
And no, I think the DEA blowing a 14 year olds head off is pretty damn tragic and I think this WOD is a lost cause and a waste of my money.
If she was, indeed, ramming the cars, I can see why they shot her. In her defense, however, if they were plainclothes cops with unmarked cars, I'm wondering how she would have known they were cops and not someone out to seek revenge on her dad by doing something to her?
Unmarked cars and civilian-clothed cops should not be stopping citizens away from a well-lit area with plenty of witnesses around.
Btw, thats what our local police spokesman says.
Could have easily happened in the general chaos as she tried to ram one police car and drove past another. Moral of the story is don't sell cocaine. Cocaine kills people. What goes around comes around and your daughter might get killed.
Its not plausible that one unarmed gal would try to ram 4 big guys dressed as gangbangers but I think you just nailed what the cover story in the official report will be.
RIGHT! So the whole barrio/neighborhood is alerted! Good thinking!
No the reason, I ususally take the cops side on FR is because of the hysterical and hyperbolic animus by people on your side towards the cops.
Thay are always wrong, no matter what.
There is only so much you can get from a press account and 95% of the time that press is going to be against the cop.
These people do a dangerous job and bad things are going to happen, and I take offense at your almost evangelical ranting that the cops are automatically bad people, they are 99% of the time good people, but that doesn't matter to you IMHO, you will use any tragic situation to smear good people in the LEO profession.
Cocaine did not kill her, her father did not kill her....the cops killed her.
And as a supporter of the "War On Drugs" you also share the blame with the rogue cops for her death.
You reap as you sow.
More Like 65% good, 35% bad generally, 50-50 for drug cops.
Really? The dad shot his daughter in the back of the head as she was speeding toward him in a car? You really belive that, Dane?
Or was it the killer cops who shot her from behind, and then lied about the way this crazed-killer-cop syndrome "bad shoot" went down?
Licking the thug's jackboot will not save this girl, Dane. It will only cause the cold killers to despise their target more as they take careful, sociopathic, mentally diseased aim.
I know some door smashers and most all agree, the WOD is a joke, a waste of money, police resources, and our tax dollars. There are other ways to deal with this than shooting up neighborhoods and killing 14 year olds, and throwing people in cages.
And by the way, most of the drugs are coming out of mexico. Does anyone think the government cares about that as they wink and nod at millions of people entering illegally, routinely, at will?
LOL..
