Woman who had sex with identical twins can’t know for sure who fathered her child: court

Identical twins who had sex with the same woman within four days of each other can’t know for sure who fathered her child, a UK court ruled recently.

Only one of the brothers can be listed on the birth certificate for the child, but right now it is “not possible” to confirm who the biological parent is, the Court of Appeals in London said, according to reports.

The baby’s mother and one of the twins sought court intervention to grant him parental responsibility after the other brother was registered as the tot’s father on the paperwork based on a past court ruling, the Guardian reported.

> Yes, Solomon.

What are the other options?

One twin coughs up 120 grand for the deep test? Or they split the cost? That's a lot of clams.

They have a competition to see who is better at sex with the woman, she judges, and she picks the one she wants to continue with as the father?

Flip a coin?

What a stupid and unfortunate situation. Stupid for the adults, unfortunate for the kid.

I know of a woman who birthed fraternal twins. The twins each have different fathers. I worked with one of the fathers. He reported each father had to pay child support.

Reminds me of another headline:

Man who had sex with identical twins can’t know for sure who was "faking it"

They are IDENTICAL twins.

As Hillary would say, “What difference does it make?”

(I know, child support, etc, but I couldn’t resist.)

Better idea. Neither pays child support unless they want to pay it. Her body, her choice, her child.

Yep - and likely enough mutations to be able to differentiate.

So I assume that the reason that this is an issue is because neither twin is stepping up to support the child? If they both want to support the child, flip a coin and put one of them down until the day that science advances to the point where they can figure it out. Both men can jointly support the child. But if neither wants to take responsibility, then do the same thing - flip a coin and force both to support the child until it becomes possible to figure out who the father is.

Have they done a DNA test? The answer might be ‘none of the above’.

Recent research has documented rare cases of paternal mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) transmission in humans, with studies identifying 17 individuals across multiple families who inherited significant levels of mtDNA from their fathers, ranging from 24% to 76%. This challenges the long-standing belief that mtDNA is exclusively maternally inherited.

Differences in Mitochondrial DNA

Despite sharing the same nuclear DNA, identical twins do not necessarily have identical mitochondrial DNA. Mitochondrial DNA can accumulate mutations during the development of the twins. These mutations can lead to variations in mitochondrial DNA between the twins over time.

I suggest they flip a coin and let the issue be settled.
That’s how life happens anyway, and the use of the coin saves coin which can then be used intelligently.

Of course, the miracle of life could throw a surprise package of birthing twins into the mix.

“can’t know for sure who fathered her child”

“it is ‘not possible’ to confirm who the biological parent is, the Court of Appeals in London said”

Ever heard of a DNA test? I seriously doubt that identical twins have completely identical DNA.
