Mother-of-four is handcuffed in front of her children and hauled to jail for letting 11-year-old son walk less than a mile into town where just 370 people live

A mother-of-four was handcuffed in front of her children and hauled off to jail after she allowed her 11-year-old son to walk less than a mile into a small town.

Brittany Patterson went to drive her eldest son to a medical appointment on October 30, 11-year-old Soren, was supposed to tag along - but was not around when it was time to leave

She had figured he was simply playing in the woods or visiting his grandmother, Patterson told the outlet, noting that her father lives with them and her mother and sisters live just two minutes away.

But it turned out Soren decided to walk to downtown Mineral Bluff, a town of just 370 people that is less than a mile from their home.

He was spotted alongside the road by a woman who asked if he was OK, and even though he replied that he was, the woman called police

A female sheriff's deputy then picked up the boy, and called Patterson.

'I know the roads and know he is mature enough to walk there without incident,' Patterson said of the street that has a speed limit of up to 35mph.

The deputy, however, 'kept mentioning how he could have been run over, or kidnapped or "anything" could have happened,'

The deputy ultimately drove Soren home and left him with his grandfather.

around 6.30pm that night, the deputy showed up with another officer, handcuffed Patterson and brought her to jail, where she was fingerprinted, had her mugshot taken and was put in prison garb, according to an online fundraiser set up for her legal bills.

She said she did not understand what was happening, as she had grown up in the area with unsupervised time to wander and play, and was raising her children that way as well.

Insane. I used to walk to town every Saturday to collect $1 for doing chores around the house. It was about a mile away. We all walked or rode our bikes everywhere.

I experienced that when young.

However I thought the article said woman cop. I guess the issue might still be relevant. Color would be another factor.

They charged her with “reckless conduct”. I bet it took them all afternoon to come up with that charge. Apparently they have nothing better to do with their time.

But yet CPS won’t touch REAL child abuse with a 10’ pole because it would be politically incorrect AND too dangerous. I.E. a black woman who literally beats her child to death, they look the other way on that one.

Low hanging fruit to justify their phony baloney jobs. They also go after father on their visitation with their kids.

Sunday deliveries were a bitch. I had to tie a wagon to the back of my bicycle.

My dad helped me with the Sunday papers. I learned to drive a standard shift car when I was 11. The Sunday paper was so big, it was delivered in two batches - the comics and supplements were dropped off on Wednesday, and had to be assembled Sunday morning.

When I was 11 I was riding my RM80 out down the transmission line easement as far as I could go with enough gas to get back. With no helmet, wearing shorts and sneakers. This country has been thoroughly feminized.

Did they heat it up so you wouldn't dilly-dally?

They were more concerned with my lollygagging.

I had a nightime delivery of the Seattle Times. It was approximately 2 miles to the end, and of course 2 miles back. I got up at 3 am to do this and I would get home about 5 am. Of course M-Saturday, my route for a different paper was about a 4 mile loop. My older brother went with me on Sundays, and my older sister and younger brother went on weekdays.

We kept that paper route from 1959 to 1976. We were all in shape, and 6 siblings including me enriched by the experience.

I also walked 2 miles to Jr High for 2 years. I could have ridden the bus, but by the time it took me to get there, I would be on top of the hill between me and school, and I could leave later than the kids who took the bus, and beat them to school.

It was 3 miles to the swimming pool, we walked that all the time. It was nearly 4 miles to the YMCA, we walked that frequently. My Mom called it “Hoof’s Mare”.

It would be very sad if he were dead.

"anything" did happen!

Idiot women reported him, abducted him and then abducted his mother with false arrest.

The lights should go out in Georgia tonight!

Yet, if he wanted to call himself a girl, the mother would have had no say in the matter...

We did the same, to the store owned by the Essers. They were friends of my family, and one time they even let me get a 6 pack. I got there, used the phone on the wall to call Mom at home, she gave the okay. Cigarettes were just a note in the pocket, depending if we were home or hanging out and going to head back soon. I was about 15yo when I got a six pack for home. Better times, different times. Gas was well under a buck.

You can go to NYC today and see plenty of young kids riding the subway by themselves ... especially to and from school.

I don’t blame them the last thing a family needs is a child that lollygags. I mean think of the neighbors.
