All major social media platforms do poorly at protecting LGBTQ+ users from hate speech and harassment — especially those who are transgender, non-binary or gender non-conforming, the advocacy group GLAAD said Thursday. But Twitter is the worst.
In its annual Social Media Safety Index, GLAAD gave Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and Twitter low or failing scores, saying the platforms don’t do enough to keep their users safe. That said, most improved from a year ago.
Twitter, which was acquired by Tesla CEO Elon Musk last October, was the only exception. GLAAD’s scorecard called it “the most dangerous platform for LGBTQ people” and the only one that saw its scores decline from last year. […]
On Twitter, attacks on LGBTQ+ users have increased substantially since Elon Musk took over the company last fall, according to multiple advocacy groups.
A big part of the reason is the drastic staffing cuts Musk has enacted since his takeover — there are simply not enough content moderators to handle the flood of problematic tweets that range from hate speech to graphic material and harassment. Musk has also described himself as a “free-speech absolutist” who believes Twitter’s previous policies were too restricting. …

So....then twitter is the best.
Almost all of them apparently. There is a genocide going on after all. /s
LGBTQ social contagion among the worst for the Safety of Children.
Oh no, now Yuengling is part of the crazy!
So being “safe” means not having your BS radical doctrines challenged?
Wow…Yuengling was doing well with Bud Light’s demise. It’ll be interesting to see how this impacts their sales.
Very disappointing. I thought they knew better. They also make a better product than Bud.
These companies need to stop worrying about their communist virtue-signaling scores or whatever that free-market-destroying-WEF nonsense is.
“Why does anyone need protection from hearing about others’ opinions?”
If Hitler and Stalin needed that, then we all do.

I can’t find the button that delivers the electric shock to the person on the other side of the screen.
I’m afraid to just “try” every key ... don’t want to cause any trouble ..
but I would like to send a zap once in a while ....
Oh the horror!
I suspect Twitter is also the worst site when it comes to “persecution” of Christians.
You know? People can just ignore those comments or refuse to visit the site altogether. Or, they can be selective as to the accounts they follow or the people who can see their own comments. It’s pretty easy to do. Most sites that allow comments have a “mute” feature. Use it!
Which platforms are best for SWCMA+ (straight white Christian males & allies) safety?
And most of those other than Twitter are the worst when it comes to Child Safety.
But, what about all the platforms that are dangerous to conservatives?
The Constitution guarantees the right to free speech.
The Constitution doesn't guarantee that you won't be offended.
Sounds like a great endorsement for Twitter. If I were Musk I would pin that on the front page.
“I’m old enough to remember when “safety” meant you did things to prevent injuries. Now it’s a catch-all term for anything that might hurt someones tender widdle feelings...”
This is because “safety” is a magic word now, since it is the key to one of the loopholes that social media sites can use to censor content without becoming “publishers” under the Communications Decency Act. “Safety” isn’t defined in the act itself, so the social media cites can claim nearly anything is a “safety” concern, then censor it, and they are safe from losing their privileged position as non-liable non-publishers.
Not their job. Whatever you do, you should be ready to protect yourself...and take some responsibility for your choices.
The levels of hateful silence is deafening on Twitter!
But let's observe why some atop GLAAD are so glad:
Sarah Kate Ellis (President & CEO), $482,805
Notice GLAAD doesn’t rate on protecting children from their MAPs who are on the same sites.
Predators go to where the prey is and GLAAD demands the predators’ protection.
