And before that it was Old Spice and Aqua Velva.
My sweetheart in the 60s wore English Leather.
Old Spice was hurting *really* bad for a really long time. Then they did that famous series of commercials with Isaiah Mustafa and started leaning in on the stereotype that it was something your grandpa wore. I’m pretty sure at some point they started putting, “If your grandfather hadn’t worn it, you wouldn’t exist” on the label.
As a very young man I wore cologne, but as I matured I realized that women REALLY go crazy over a man who is freshly showered with a good deodorant soap (especially Safeguard), good deodorant, and an after-shower body powder (I recommend Shower to Shower). The girls will be all over you.
Don’t forget Brut and Hai Karate. Those were my go to scents back in the 70s.
Old Spice always reminds me of my father. He’d be 102 now. I bought a bottle to keep in my medicine cabinet and smell it occasionally.
Don’t forget Hai Karate, or Stetson.
