Should We Allow COVID-19's Harsh Measures to Destroy Our Economy? (Vanity)

I say no. It is not worth the high unemployment and millions of destroyed businesses just so we could potentially save the lives of hundreds of thousands 80 years old citizens.
Today is Day 7. We have until Day 15. Then let's go back to business as normal while keeping our elderly and medically vulnerable in quarantine.
If we continue to lock things up to destroy our economy, well, the American people are not going to put up with it.

NO! That is not the alternative. There is a CURE but it is being slow walked now that the truth is out. Ask yourself why?

Yeah, what good are the elderly and immune compromised anyway, kill them all then let COVID-19 mutated to “it’s” heart content, perhaps eventually adapting to destroying healthy immune systems so we all will die.

It will be extended. Guaranteed.

Out of ALL people tested WITH symptoms 1 out of 10 actually have the damn virus!!!

Its been a theory of mine when a nation hasnt been in a war for awhile, people get soft.
I think that’s been shown again and again.

You are part of the problem, we can protect the elderly without shutting the entire country down you are being ridiculous!!!
To: MinorityRepublican
How many suicides and deaths of despair will the subsequent depression cause? Those lost will be in the prime of their lives, too, not the elderly.

I admit that I am not very knowledgeable when it comes to major economics but, (sorry) I can't see in any way that the economy can be boosted by giving money away!
All it accomplishes is ... Inflation!
A country is judged on its GDP.
(Gross Domestic Product)
GDP is a monetary measure of the market value of all the final goods and services produced in a specific time period.
Does anyone understand: "Goods and Services" Produced?
The government produces nothing.
Well it does print money which affects the dollar in a negative way! (It's worth less!)
If a government prints money faster than the growth of real output it reduces the value of the money which ultimately can lead to inflation.
So, in effect, the government right now is seeking to just move the money around from one place to another and if need be ... they will "Fire up the presses!"
Think about this while we're at it:
Taxation without representation occurs when a taxing authority, such as the government, imposes taxes on its citizens and other entities but fails to provide them with a political voice through elected representatives.
Every time the government has raised taxes to spend beyond its means it does so on the backs of generations not yet born!
(Where is the 'voice' of our future generations, the ones we are stealing from?)
Not only is that wrong .. It is unconstitutional!
That was one of the reasons for the American Revolution!

It means a lot of drive in tests were given to asymptomatic people just wanting to know. They were/are free right?

I happen to be elderly with immune problems AND I say this is absurd!!!

I’m not going to be surprised when we wake up one morning and our cell phones are jammed and internet won’t connect. I’ll be so “they” can have better communications to handle the virus. Our use of those media will be slowing down their access. That will be their story.

It is amazing how people are accepting of this where I live. Then again, there is a large immigrant population here. Not too many native born people. Those that are native born are really old and left leaning.

I want to find out now. F it. I guess you were the person at the Route 91 Music Festival who stayed in the middle of the field and expected the band to come back on stage. After all, more than 99 percent of the people present survived the massacre.
Do the rest of us a favor. Try to avoid other people for a couple of weeks so we can slow down this epidemic before it causes more disruption than it already has.

By her definition, no, that wasn’t what it meant. She specifically referenced the results of tests of the symptomatic.
That said, I have no doubt there have been and will be many tests given to people who just want to know. There are a lot of people with the regular flu, or likely even psychosomatic issues, who are thinking they have this. If you read the FR pages, you will come across many people who thought they had it last year.
