Should We Allow COVID-19's Harsh Measures to Destroy Our Economy? (Vanity)
Sunday, March 22, 2020 | Me

I say no. It is not worth the high unemployment and millions of destroyed businesses just so we could potentially save the lives of hundreds of thousands 80 years old citizens.

Today is Day 7. We have until Day 15. Then let's go back to business as normal while keeping our elderly and medically vulnerable in quarantine.

If we continue to lock things up to destroy our economy, well, the American people are not going to put up with it.

That was 3/16 when there were 44 deaths, now we have 114 deaths in NY State alone and 431 in the USA (10x more in 6 days).

South Korea has around 9,000 cases (Rising mind you) with 104 deaths.
California (Around 10 million more people) has close to 1,500 hundred cases and 27 deaths.
Please don’t swallow the media propaganda, South Korea is far from being purified or controlled.

They locked down the ENTIRE state of CA. when we had ONLY 900 cases in a population of 40 million that is RIDICULOUS!!! Completely ridiculous!!! All of Ventura county has 17 cases out of 900,000 population absolutely absurd!!!!

I’m guessing that you are not a doctor.

Am I right?

I have a family member that will be treating Kung Flu patients tomorrow. I’m guessing you don’t.

Am I right?

Agree. How did the US ever fight and win WW2? The Kung Flu Panic of 2020 boggles the mind. Abject surrender in the face of adversity.

Same here.. it will more than likely kill my youngest, but she doesn’t live here. It will likely kill my husband. I dont look foward to life without them.. but we will be together again.. i am thankful they both made it this far.

It’s been a theory of mine when a nation hasn’t been in a war for awhile, people get soft.

Now of course, I don’t want war, but it is a consequence of a lack of war.

In reality the number of confirmed cases is nothing like the numbers of infected. There are huge numbers of people infected who are asymptomatic, minor cases, or otherwise untested who are never counted among the confirmed cases.

This means the death rate is radically lower than you seem to think

Exactly. I knew this was going to happen as soon as we got large scale testing and with that a large increase of confirmed mild infections. Those numbers will increase and the gaslighting Kung Flu pumpers will use it to increase panic.

Pure Alinsky gaslighting. Sad, I expect better from conservatives.

I agree and I’m an 82 year old with preexisting health problems. It is not realistic to destroy an economy to protect old geezers. We don’t have to do anything but sit and watch TV anyway. We have ways to get groceries, so we’re good. Get back to work!

lodi I am beyond disgusted at how damned easy this was for the MSM to drive this hysteria OMG, this has been a real eye opener for me to SEE where our country really is at this time a nation of snowflakes!! We used to have VERY young men storming the beaches of Normandy and NOW our citizens are storming the isles of toilet paper!!!

It’s not. There are hundreds of doctors across the world trying it now.

In the U.S. it is definitely taking a slower path. That is because of our litigious system. We should pass a bill immediately indemnifying doctors from any liability for any patient who opts in to try the treatment.

That would end the slow walk in the U.S.

But international reports will be in within a week.

But you then you pulled a fast one and changed it to “# of deaths over # of infected”.
In reality the number of confirmed cases is nothing like the numbers of infected.

1) it was an example showing proportions by age if the infection rate hit 10%. Other than for those under 10, we don’t seems to have much data showing that infection rate is age-related. Only outcome. We don’t know how many will become infected - only that it seems even more infectious than the flu if treated similarly. We might trap it and it might not approach .1%. It might be loose at its full infection rate and hit 30% (I doubt it).

2) there is considerable reason to believe that until recently, the unknown cases were no more than 50% over the known cases in the modernized countries, and likely less than that. It doesn’t move the numbers much relative to other uncertainties.

Shelter at home and take down the black crepe, this will pass. We have a good shot at an effective treatment with the anti-malariual combo treatment starting a major trial on Tuesday.
Be well, stay safe a little while longer.

Agree. I don’t want war and I don’t want anybody to die from the Kung Flu. But no life is worth hundreds of millions of dollars. And we are right on track to paying that for the Kung Flu. Hard commitments for $6 trillion and we are little more than a week into this.
