Alan J. Steinberg—who served as an adviser to former President George W. Bush—wrote in an opinion piece published this week that he didn’t believe President Donald Trump would be removed from office through impeachment.
Steinberg, a former Environmental Protection Agency regional administrator, said that he believed Trump would resign in 2019 in exchange for immunity.
“Trump will not be removed from office by the constitutional impeachment and removal process,” Steinberg wrote in The Star-Ledger. “Instead, the self-professed supreme dealmaker will use his presidency as a bargaining chip with federal and state authorities in 2019, agreeing to leave office in exchange for the relevant authorities not pursuing criminal charges against him, his children or the Trump Organization.”
Steinberg noted in the piece that should the House of Representatives impeach Trump, 20 Republican senators would have to break with the president to remove him from office—and that seems very unlikely. Steinberg wrote that the many legal challenges facing Trump—the investigation from special counsel Robert Mueller, the probe from the Southern District of New York as well as inquiries from the attorney general of New York and the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office—could lead him to leave the White House, especially as authorities close in on his family. …

We can laugh at this idea, but it’s one of the avenues they are pursuing to get DJT out of office. It doesn’t matter if the government stacks up bogus charges against you, it still takes a lot of resources to fight them...and you don’t recover anything from the governmnet when they have you in their prosecution sights.
They certainly underestimate POTUS as he is not the type who would quit, resign, give up.

I so disliked obama, I would have welcomed the day they took him out... and when he was elected the second time I was dumbfounded. I went on strike against all news.. it was a horrible time for our country.. and just look at the division we now have.. they blame Trump.. and that’s ridiculous.. it was obama who did the damage. But we never .. no one ever.. tried to get him removed before his 8 years were up.
This thing with Trump and the evil bunch who won’t let it go... if they do such as they are talking.. if they let a wicked man, obama, sit in that seat and worshipped him...and treat a man, Trump, as they have and not see nor report the good he has done.. if they refuse to let a man we voted for and placed him in this office... if they actually remove him....I want a rebellion they will not forget in our lifetime!
I am more than sick and tired of their rants and their language and attacks against Trump... the whole world sees it... it’s not good.. and it has to stop. I have come to believe there are no strong men anymore... the kind that will meet a challenge and not back down in the face of it all.. the kind that does not mind confrontations .. the kind that would openly and loudly stand with Trump.
They are dividing the nation every day with their attacks. Leave it alone!! He won.. we tolerated the worst president in history... you can tolerate the best.. he is not your style.. that means squat to me.. you don’t know much. You don’t even know why you dont like Trump.. its just someone keeps telling you to hate him and you don’t ask why!

Well, they can’t prosecute him while he is in office, and, at least for any federal charges, he could simply pardon himself before he leaves office and then he couldn’t be charged.

Right after Trump took the oath, there were lots of people “predicting” he would be gone in 6 months. That he didn’t really want to be President.

Why would Trump just up and resign because of something his kids have done or not done, as the case may be?
Who's prosecuting his kids? What are they charged with? Like you state, immunity from what? Name specifics. He can't because there is nothing there, there.

It would cost nothing for President Trump to simply issue blanket pardons to each and every member of his family and any other target that the insane left chooses to try to vilify and persecute.
Of course, the moonbat leftists would probably love for him to try something like that prior to the 2020 election so they could use it against him like a cudgel, but he’s not stupid. I could see him winning reelection and then doing something like that just to spite his enemies.
