One of the conventional banks, PT Bank Susila Bakti (BSB) owned jointly by Employee Welfare Foundation (YKP) of PT Bank Dagang Negara and PT Mahkota Prestasi also suffered from the crisis. BSB sought to survive the crisis by merger with other banks and inviting foreign investors.
At the same time, the government merged four banks (Bank Dagang Negara, Bank Bumi Daya, Bank Exim, and Bapindo) to become a new bank under the name PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) on July 31, 1999. The merger policy also positioned and declared PT Bank Mandiri (Persero) as the new majority owner of BSB.
Further to the merger, Bank Mandiri embarked on consolidation and commissioned Sharia Banking Development Team. The team aims to develop sharia banking business services within the Bank Mandiri business group as a response to the law enforcement of UU No. 10 Year of 1998 that allows commercial banks for running sharia transaction services (dual banking system).

Mahkota Prestasi, to get out from the 1997-1999 crisis by doing many ways – from the merger steps to final decision of converting into syariah bank. Dreams narrative is useful to identify the tricks the author used to cover over such things as the blending of a girl named Ann S Obama, someone named Anna Toot and Stanley Ann Dunham and coming up with a mother for an unidentified child. You can’t find the truth by ignoring the lie. You have to be able to separate one from the other.
I wouldn’t be surprised. At this point, nothing surprises me.

I have the saved the facebook page of Deliana Antone (Loretta Fuddy) and one of her friends is Tuti Horthy. On her page she has a wall (presumably in her house) that is full of pictures of Bapak/Muhammad Subuh Sumohadiwidjojo.
Her brother Jon Virgil Payne was born 1937 in Butler County, Kansas.
The little I’ve read of what Maraniss wrote told me he was a master of the obtuse, he uses phrases such as ‘known from other sources’ and although I don’t know his background, he sounds like quite an accomplished journalist, which wouldn’t make him a biographer I would chose. (Or I would, if I wanted someone to write a book that served an agenda)
He knows how to hold your attention however, throws in just enough to let you believe he’s prepared to delve into the tough stuff, like when he apparently suggests that both Malcolm X and Betty had affairs. The daughters were a bit put out, but that’s pretty safe, the couple are both deceased and can’t dispute it, and it’s probably true, he was out of the country almost as much as he was in it in the last few years of his life. Came home just often enough to get her pregnant. He tripped around the middle east like it was his backyard. His FBI files are so heavily redacted, you need to be a magician to put his movements together.
But I have digressed.
Stanley Armour Dunham is still an unknown quantity, there’s a record of him obtaining a real estate licence in Seattle, some talk that he worked at a furniture store in that city, then went ahead and accepted another position in a furniture store in Honolulu before SAD graduated from Mercer Island, of which graduation evidence is lacking.
‘Dreams’ has him selling insurance on the telephone at one point, and that’s not something they would have included if it wasn’t so, it’s hardly a compliment. One wonders if the author or any of the people who should have known the Dunhams well, had any input into the book, one would think that they might have followed up on the real estate sales angle, but chose to describe something of which there would be no record. So who knows what he did.
Very early in the saga, back in 2008, when it was suggested that Stanley Ann must have been living in a bungalow at the rear of the house, and that that’s what the ‘r’ stood for, the original council plans were posted on FR by a freeper (can’t recall the name) which showed there was some sort of enclosed veranda on one side, and a roofed building in the backyard that might have been a stable. Not the same outbuilding which stands there now, but the same size. That was described as being unceilinged to it would not have been for human habitation.
I’m guessing stable because there were a number of horse-riding establishments in the area around that time. I could be wrong. They might have raised chickens...
The couple who purchased the property in 1958 lived elsewhere. The neighbour who had lived there during all of that time and was still there, said she never saw a young woman with a baby.
How did Ann S Obama get into the directory?
It must have been quite a household, and if the Pratt daughter who lived there with her parents who owned a furniture store in Honolulu told Maraniss that Ann S Obama was a japanese girl (for example) who was a student at the U of HI and rented a room (which might have been that small enclosed veranda) Maraniss is hardly going to repeat that. The most he’s going to say is what he did say...there were four bedrooms also in that house, plenty of room for the Dunham couple and the senior Pratts and their daughter.
Ann S Obama might also just have had the smallest bedroom.
I don’t think of the Dunhams as mooching off Pratt who was his employer. I do question how long that deal lasted. One would need to go over Ladysforest images of the Polk directories - I’ll post from her site in my next comment.
Now keep in mind it’s also possible that the tenant Ann S Obama was the woman the kenyan wrote home about to say he was married. And later, he wrote he had a son.
That might be the first introduction we have to the mother of the child Mary babysat in January. The one she later tried to tell us was 7 months old in August, (lol!) when she realized what she had done...
So there you have it, the Pratts were obviously there first, the owners (Lleforge & Young) owned the investment property since 1958, Stanley Armour was an employee at the Pratt furniture store, (he was a good salesman, according to some accounts) and we still don’t know who Ann S Obama was, but I’m betting she was enrolled at the U of HI for Fall 1960. And she met the kenyan student in a Russian Class conducted by the two expat Russian women whose names escape me. Why? Because communism was all the rage and they wanted to be ready for when bolshevism came to Hawaii and to Kenya when he went back to be a big man. Idiots.

Meanwhile I do recall an article in which it was noted that none of the employees at the Bank where she was so imortant, had any idea she had a grandson until he and Maya would come to the bank after school and do their homework there while they waited for her to finish work.
When would that have been? When would Maya be old enough to have homework?
The Covert family goes back to the 1600s, when they emigrated to New York from Holland.
