I hate to give Steven Spielberg any money, and I hate the fact that Spielberg spouts the lie that the Republican party of Lincoln's day is now the Democrat party.
I am sure that it is another Lefty propaganda piece.
But it looks like a well-made movie.
Should I stay or should I go?
I thought it was an action movie. It’s a movie about a raging alcoholic in denial. I don’t care.
Ahh! Now see, looking at the TV ads, I figured it was a story about a hero who is being railroaded.
I’ll see it next week for free.
Equally interesting is that early in BHO’s presidency he made it a point while starting to have an official Memorial Day wreath laying at the new Black Civil Soldier's Memorial in DC to considerably amp up the wreath laying at the huge Confederate Monument in Arlington Cemetery. This had declined, especailly in the Clinton and Bush 2 administrations to a very perfunctory action carried out by a colonel or even LTC. Under BHO a general officer and an honor party appeared. The general was, interestingly, always black. The wreath was much l;arger and more impressive and the GO delivered some very curious prepared remarks to the effect that while none would defend slavery these men, pointing at the massed figures on the monument, acted to defend what they saw as their rights. They may have been grievously in error but their sincerity cannot be doubted any more than their courage. I don't know what to make of it other than BHO sees himself as part of the ‘other’ and somehow sees Confederates as part of the ‘other’ that the USA has crushed in its its career of empire.
We went and saw it today. It was good, Daniel Day was awesome and so was Sally Fields.
The folks in the audience were clapping and laughing at the stupid remarks and arguments the Democrats were making when talking about the EP.
There is a part in the movie where Lincoln talks out loud about the struggles he had with the decisions.
See the movie then do your research on historical fact and compare the movie against what is written in history. Which is what I did when I got home.
The last two movies I saw in the theater were Saving Private Ryan and Chicago.
It was lousy, don’t waste your money. I’d get the A&E biography on Abe, 100% better.
I haven’t been called that in 13 years :)
I haven’t been inside of a movie theather since 1970. That is when I became politically aware and realized that hollywood is a communist haven. I haven’t paid to see a movie since then, either.
I wish that all conservatives would think as I do.
Go ahead! Help subsidize the commies, traitor!
You're insane.
I bet you get that a lot, don't you?
Daniel Day Lewis did a better job portraying Natty Bumppo
Dont let your politics interfere with your entertainment.

Perhaps the best advice I have ever seen on FR.
