Yeah, that was pretty bad. Folks yelled out "NO!" in the theater when that happened. It was just so unexpected!

It certainly upped the stakes for the last 15 minutes of the movie, it really looked like he was going to start offing the characters one by one. Very effective, but sad, Wash had such great throw away lines.

Should have been Jayne, instead. Hired muscle is easier to replace than wisecracking pilots ;)
