That might be the point. To see if they CAN memorize on short notice.
I agree. I would also add that I don't like that they HAVE to have 12 gals and 12 guys. It should be the best 24, no matter which sex they are. jmo
And since Simon spends so much time on looks, I'd like to see him have to listen while blindfolded. Just to make it more interesting. It would be fun to see who he would send through while blind folded that we know he wouldn't have, had he been able to see them.
LMAO!! Well, if that's the case, I've got a million of them!
American Idol Star Bucky Covington and Wife Split 2/14/07
http://www.celebrityspider.com/news/february07/article021407-6.html
American Idol star Bucky Covington and his wife Crystal have separated after seven years of marriage.
Covington, a Season Five finalist, and Crystal, a nurse, have no children.
In a statement issued through his record label he says, "This is a difficult time for both of us and I would ask that everyone respect our privacy."
Covington, who won fans over with his unapologetic country style, released his first single, A Different World, in January (07), with his debut album due out on 17 April (07).
That's when you tell them you are going to play hide and seek. "Hide really good and mommy will come find you!"
Michael Jackson to Appear on American Idol? 2/14/07
http://www.celebrityspider.com/news/february07/article021307-34.html
Pop star Michael Jackson will appear on hit reality show American Idol and may even mentor contestants, according to media reports in the US.
Jackson is currently working on a comeback and has turned to Idol creator Simon Fuller to help revive his career.
According to Reality TV Magazine, the star will have his own "Idol" theme-week and may mentor the talent on the show.
Producers of the show have hinted for weeks at a "big event show" during the new season and during a recent conference call, executive producer Nigel Lythgoe mentioned Jackson, saying they wouldn't want it to "slip out with somebody telling their mom that Michael Jackson is coming".
The Thriller star is also working with choreographer and director Kenny Ortega, who said last week (ends09FEB07) Jackson is weighing all his options regarding a comeback.
Ortega explains, "We're talking business and looking at lots of different possibilities. This is blue-sky time with a lot of different scenarios up in the air.
"We're working through all of them to find the best, the one that makes the most sense and that's good for everybody."
Great! And thank goodness I don't have to worry about you being "Skank" funny either,;-), you're wholesomely original.
I was just floored when she said that about God liking "good" people. I thought only people from NY were that brash, not NJ!
BTW, love your blog!
American Idol 6 Needs A Wild Card Round
http://www.realitytvmagazine.com/blog/2007/02/american_idol_6_1.html
The American Idol 6 Hollywood week episode has many American Idol fans in an uproar. While fans are always upset when their favorites are cut during Hollywood week, American Idol season six seems to have created more controversy than ever. Since the Hollywood week is filmed in advance, the American Idol judges dont have the hindsight of knowing which contestants from the American Idol auditions strike a chord with the American public.
In Hollywood, contestants are given 30 seconds to impress the judges with a solo performance. If they make it through the solo performances, then they are split into groups and asked to learn a song together. Someone who winds up in a bad group or with a song they are unfamiliar with is put at a huge disadvantage in the group performances. Really good singers can get cut really quickly just because of a little bad luck in the auditions.
Baylie Browns elimination is causing a stir because many fans see her as someone who deserved to continue but encountered bad luck during her group audition. Several other singers like Sean Michel, Rachel Zevita, Porcelana Patino, Jenry Bejarano, and Ebony Jointer have become very popular online, and their apparent sudden eliminations from the competition has left viewers wanting to know more. (We say apparent because in some cases its not completely evident if they were eliminated.)
American Idol appears to have unfortunately cut some of the best singers from the competition, and the best way to rectify it would be the return of a wild card show. In seasons one through three, American Idol had a wild card show that gave previously eliminated contestants a second chance. We think its time to bring it back.
Exactly! Although, remember they're looking for "packagability," not neccessarily the "best" singer. What's interesting is these top 24 are going to give something back to AI if their careers get launched. AI is a CASH GENERATING MACHINE and they might feel they have to run the gambit of both sexes to maxumize the marketability. Even if someone like Antonella doesn't make it, she is hot as they come, and certainly would make a mint modeling langerie. (I can hope!!!)
The Michael Jackson angle is going to be an interesting one to follow.
It's just too bad that he has single handedly destroyed his life and his career. I'm not sure he can revive it, at least in the US.
Imagine if Idol had existed back when MJ was still the black King of Pop. I think his mentoring at that time, and a MJ week would have drawn more viewers than almost any show ever.
But, unfortunately they want to revive a cadaver. Can you imagine being close enough to him to actually get a good look at that nose of his. Or will they be facing a hospital mask?
While he might have been able to offer good tips and assistance at one point, I think now he would just be a huge distraction. Extra viewers might tune in, but I think it would be like tuning in to see the world's shortest person perform opera. Just a novelty show.
Yeah, I understand all that, but, I can't help but wonder when they force the 12 and 12 issue if someone got cut just because they weren't the 'right' sex?
I will never watch AI again if they let that putrid serial child-rapist Michael Jackson make an appearance on the show.
They haven't shown us a lot of people who made the cut so far, so I don't have a favorite yet. But there was one girl last night who caught my attention. Beautiful voice. Pretty. Dark straight hair. Not sure, but I think her name is Marisa, or something like that. Could not tell if she was in one of the groups that made the cut.
Re your Chris Sligh gif...LOL! He does have a voice, but he looks like a chubby Irish Water Spaniel.
I hope they were holding back the best performances for tonight's show. I wasn't impressed with anything last night except that one group performance by the guys. Hated to see Baylie get booted off, but as bad as she was in her group performance I don't think the judges had much choice. Glad that Sundance Head made it through even with his weak performances. Sounded to me like the group performance forced him into too high of a key, so maybe they gave him a break because of that. Unlike last year, I don't have a favorite yet, so I'm really looking forward to tonight's show.
"Another B'ham area guy made through tonight to the next round. Actually he's from Pleasant Grove and is a student at Auburn."
I did not know that. They can't allow another Birmingham resident and Auburn student to win though....;-)
Can't say that I noticed. Frankly, I quite disappointed with the way the shows have been edited this year. They showed us too little of the good auditions, and shoved way too much crap at us.
Then they rush us though last night and again we see little of the talent.
I'm beginning to think they are doing this on purpose. They showed us Taylor last year in both the auditions and during Hollywood week and during the 'ling walk'. Simon didn't want him to win, but thought he would draw viewers because of his 'moves' or dancing. But, people liked Taylor and kept him around and he won. I think Simon doesn't want a repeat this year, and so we aren't getting a chance to get too fond of anyone just yet.
I looked for her, and didn't see her. I was bummed not to have seen the little Indian girl sing, I really liked her, and what about the pedi-cab chick, did she make it? And *sigh* Jenry Bejarano? Where was he?! Oh, and that Ebony girl who was brilliant at the audition (one of the three roller-skate waitresses)?
Also, sorry I've been missing the threads live... a friend keeps coming over now to watch with me.
I'll be stunned if the three in bold didn't make it through.
Re: Baylie Brown... I kinda figure she's already gotten enough exposure to get a decent career going. At 16, I'm not too worried about her.
Makes sense to me. Simon really hates Taylor & doesn't care how much it shows. So I can see it. I do wish the shows had been more like they've been in the past. It's so rushed that it's hard to remember some of them from the auditions. A lot of the ones I do remember didn't appear on air. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
