But Dick and Lynne are overjoyed.

I wish these columnists would leave the family alone. This is none of their business

I don't see how fathers abandoning their kids is Mary Cheney's fault. Those jagoffs were bolting long before gays started raising children of their own.

Dick and Lynne are probably heartsick over this, but they have to evince the best outward construction that can be summoned up.

What can anyone do about adult, willful children who march to their own (often misguided) drummers?

I'd really like to know.

No, it does not "affect us all". It's a private decision. MY ankles aren't swollen; I'M not throwing up every morning.

Since the baby is already on the way, I guess all that can be done about it now is for all of these busybody writers to urge her to have an abortion.

Oh please, Mary Cheney's baby is her own business, however it was conceived. I'm sick and tired of liberals trying to invade the private lives of everyone, now the conservatives want to do the same. As long as Cheney doesn't apply for welfare for the baby, it's no one else's business.

Mary Cheney is among that burgeoning group of adult women over age 20 that are driving the trend of women who don’t want a man in the picture

They do; they merely substitute the State for hubby.

She is extremely selfish.

1: She will be bearing a child out of wedlock.

2: She will be raising a child in an unwholesome environment, with another woman. There will be no father figure.

3: She was likely responsible for destroying embryos.

Not to mention the anguish she is causing for her mother and father...

The only way this baby affects me is if they hit me up for a baby shower gift.

To be fair, the author should at least consider the possibility that adult men over the age of 20 are rejecting some of these women. Lesbians aside, many straight single women want to have children on their own. It's not necessarily the women who don't want a man in the picture - many of these are cases of men who don't want these women in the picture.

>>>Mary Cheney's pregnancy affects us all<<<

No, it doesn't. I couldn't care less.

Mary has to have a baby, or else when the old folks kick off, her sisters' kids will inherit the gazillion billion oil dollars.

That's what it's all about.

Everyone is feeling more devestated over this than they were on 7 November. That is where the priorities are. We are stuck with two years of democratic rule and we are worried about one baby who I guarantee will not turn out like the statistics. I would bet my life on it in fact. They are going to have great grandparents and money to help them so they don't have to work 60 hours a week.

She continues to repudiate the work to which her father has devoted his life.

I don't think this is accurate. VP Cheney has dedicated his life to the notion of less government regulation in the personal lives of every day Americans and less taxes. I agree with VP Cheney's views of government. I don't think that Mary Cheney has made a wise decision, but it's none of my business. Her choices are between her and God.

Some of the Freepers saying this isn't a big deal are being hypocritical. If it was John Edward's or John Kerry's daughter, the exact same people would be whining about it being a sign of the apocalypse.

I see it as a slap in the face to her father and to this Administration. She could have waited until her father was out of office.

Mary Cheney's pregnancy affects us all

This does not affect me at all. She seems to have a very stable relationship, wants a child and everyone in the family is ok with her decision from what I have heard. More important things to fret about these days.

Merry Christmas everyone :)
