Fox News alert a few minutes ago says the Dover School Board lost their bid to have Intelligent Design introduced into high school biology classes. The federal judge ruled that their case was based on the premise that Darwin's Theory of Evolution was incompatible with religion, and that this premise is false.
Before there were stars, earth, moons ect. where did it come from?
Wron.
"germ theory" is shorthand for "Germ Theory of Disease.
You can't look through a microsocope and see germs making diseases.
Well, the one thing I have learned on these threads is that no one seems to able to convince anyone on the other side of the debate...but a lot of information does get passed on, ,and that, in my mind is very useful...
You and my hubby would get along, regarding your fondness for beer...we live out in the Pacific Northwest, so when we go out for dinner, there is ample opportunity for him to sample new beers..we have so many micro-breweries out here, so there is always something new and different to try...
Good. The ACLU needs to stay out of the religion nanny business.
Now if religious people would just learn to stay out of the science business all would be well with the world.
"This isn't about how smart supporters of evolution are."
Obviously not.
I disagree wholeheartedly with your endorsement of a federal court to make a local decision. It was wrong with bussing, and it is wrong with curriculum decision.
Ah, the fruits of microbial labor. Music to my ears.
You posted: "ONE GOD. ONE WAY. YAHWEY OR NO WAY!"
Reply: The sheer number of claims as to the 'one true truth' gives one pause. Since there are so many mutually contradictory claims, obviously they cannot all be right.
Whatever religious belief you have, there are always at least 100 million humans who have a different god-belief. This makes one humble.
It is unreasonable to believe in creationism without any evidence to support that theory.
You've obviously misstated your position but I won't take you to task over it, the 6th circuits opinion and the appeals court transcipt in the Georgia case have put me in a fine mood. Not to mention the Wall Street Journal article ripping the likes of Lindsay Graham, Joe Biden and other assorted talking blockheads.
prove it
Who do you reckon should pay court costs for this one?
Is it just me or is this getting pointless and ridiculous? It also seems that every single evolution thread posted on the FreeRepublic becomes a bloodfest between the Pro-I.D. and the Evolutionists. Can't we just get over this? I'm sure there are a ton of other articles that can be read.
Let me get this straight: you're whole point was based on some sort of hyper-pedantic reading of my original post because I didn't say "almost every"? You'll notice that the point is independent of the precise percentage of individuals involved: you know, it may have been 90%, maybe 95, maybe 98.2%. I'm not quite sure.
This sort of pedantic silliness is a complete red herring.
Why is it that evolutionists on this board can never (note, this is an exaggeration: never is not intended to be taken absolutely literally!!!) seem to address the substance of the arguments being made but nearly always have to go after side issues?
The original argument was that Marx, Freud, and Darwin were embraced by very much the same types of people at about the same time for very much the same reason, in very much the same way. As it turns out, Marx and Freud have since been completely discredited. Does this mean Darwin, by association, was wrong? No. Perhaps there was something fundamentally different about Darwin. But for just about everything Darwinists would say today about how great Darwin , you can replace "Darwin" with "Marx" or "Freud" and find the exact same things said historically about those 2 folks.
It's really not that hard an argument to understand. Care to respond to it, or do you want to parse words and bandy semantics?
Well, you are dead wrong, evolution is not in any way science. It is a man's attempt to prove creation apart from the Bible. It takes more faith to believe in this so-called wacky theory, then it does in the creation story as written in the Bible.
Missed it? Are you kidding? I studied Genesis, in the original Hebrew, in the third grade in an Orthodox Jewish religious school.
Jews, however, do not necessarily believe that the Torah must always be interpreted literally. Most branches of Judaism have no problem with Theistic evolution.
One thing I did not expect to find when I joined FR was a fellow myxomycotophile.
More apropos to the subject at hand, is it unreasonable to believe organized matter that behaves according to predictable laws may be the result of intelligent design?
The subject is *natural* selection, and it is not random. If we're talking natural selection via dry climate, then creatures tolerant to drought will survive, those that are not will not. The selection process is not random.
