Mammana recalls. “‘Let him learn. If this doesn’t do it, nothing will.’”
Then came October 1, 1991. On that day, Mammana and his wife, Lisa Ann, were already separating after less than a year of marriage. She worked in the clubhouse of the Korman Suites in Blue Bell, where he had an apartment. He tried to speak with her twice, but each time she refused. When he returned to settle an issue over a car, his sedate demeanor dissolved. “His mood swung,” she testified eight days later. “He said, ‘You’re going to be sorry.’” They argued. Lisa asked him for a divorce. Mammana lost it. “He threatened to kill me, and he threatened to scar my face,” she said. “He threatened to have my father’s house burnt down. He threatened to have my daughter raped and blinded.”
She gave him back her wedding ring, and Mammana left, but not for long. An hour later, he was back, still in a rage. She testified that he tore a countertop off its foundation and ran after her with it, knocking her down by clubbing her in the head. She cried, he calmed down, but the argument flared up. Mammana grabbed a serrated kitchen knife and tried to stab her with it. She moved, and the knife stuck in a box of Styrofoam cups. According to her testimony, Mammana looked at her and said, “I’m going to kill you.”

Eventually, Lisa found an opportunity to call the police, and Mammana bolted. At his trial, the countertop, the knife and the box of cups were presented as evidence. Lisa testified that Mammana had been threatening her for seven months, and had even fired a gun at her. When police searched his apartment, in addition to scores of testosterone vials, pills and syringes, they found two bullet holes in the walls.

Mammana served eight months in jail for aggravated assault before he was transferred to South Jersey to serve a yearlong sentence for car thefts there. Two years of his life lost behind bars. A girlfriend he’d never see again. An ex-wife he’d attacked. By 1992, the only future Joe Mammana seemed destined for was a solitary one, either behind guarded walls or below six feet of dirt."

If Natalee is alive on another island it is because she was sold into white slavery there, but, of course, we all know she was raped by the Kalpo brothers and Joran Van Sloot, something the three, along with many others, have been doing at Carlos & Charlie's for some time." From the moment of Natalees disappearance Aruba rallied around the Holloway family providing resources, manpower, support and prayers. And we marshaled the resources and efforts of thousands: "But you have set her rapists and killers free so that they could return to work or attend college...wouldn't it be nice if she were at college now?" Helicopters and ATVs were donated. The Dutch Marines came. The Aruba Red Cross mobilized. Aruba Search & Rescue worked tirelessly. "None of this happened for months, after it was way too late. Why wasn't the Van Sloot home and property searched? Why did your own Prime Minister state blood was found in Deepak's car and then it was claimed it was just chocolate by the police?" The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) provided agent and expertise, since the beginning. "The FBI itself has stated they were kept from information or participation, and were never really involved or used properly." Local volunteers worked tirelessly. We deeply thank those who did so, giving of their own time so generously." One of the most powerful displays of support was when the Aruban Government, and many private businesses, gave employees the afternoon off to aide in the search for Natalee. Arubans came out in large numbers combing the island in a show of support and sympathy for the family in the hope of uncovering something to bring us closer to an answer. "And, we again are extremely appreciative of these genuine efforts." This is the first time any nation has mobilized so completely to find a single missing girl. Our entire country came together to help resolve this case. The investigation continues. "Not really: we do it here all the time as a part of standard police procedure when there is a kidnapping or missing child, but we are glad that Aruba has caught up with most civilized nations." What is truly needed now is a period of silence so whatever chance is left for the investigation to succeed can be undertaken to capture and prosecute those responsible. "Silence is what the boycott is all about; you can't imagine how both depressing and infuriating it is to know you had already captured and arrested the rapists and then frivilously let them go. What was the point of that? Lack of evidence when you ignore the opportunity to collect any would not be a proper excuse. When friends of the idiot Paulus Van Sloot set his son free with the reasoning being that he shouldn't be late for college, when he has murdered an innocent girl who will never go to college, America as a nation begins thinking you folks are getting a little big headed on our money. So, as appreciative as we are for those who helped in the searches, a boycott MUST continue for generations to come." Natalee Holloway and her family have been taken into the hearts of the Aruban people. The island of Aruba continues to extend its sincerest thoughts and most heartfelt prayers for her safe return and the peace of mind and comfort of her family and friends. "Many people, yes, but why don't you go to Carlos & Charlie's and see how much sympathy there is. Why do you allow such a garbage dump bar to continue operating when it is costing you millions in tourism? I know it used to bring vacationers in, but not anymore, especially since the awareness of the rape gangs there has finally made us see what the island attitude really is, at least by its youth." agreed...this person writes with pseudo awareness and a phony american "accent"...on another subject, but related, i am reasonably certain the kalpoes and joran have watched us in silence from the hidden security of their computers...i don't think they've been on 24/7, but i do believe that in a curious mirrorlike observation of their own infamous acheivements, they get a kick out of the momentary viewing of what we think, and they come in and out on membership entries like the cleverless babblings we have just endured...i think that mentality is the entire reason behind deepak involving himself in the video tape or joran protesting an interview and then talking for 30 minutes

I've read of Mammana's history before, but haven't ever seen anything connecting him to Mafia. I see he has beaten his ex-wife and stolen some cars, but where's the Mafia part?

And the rest of the story is...Mammana has reformed and is trying to do the right things now. For that I applaud him!
