Nah.. Artest was headed out by this point. Could be we are talking about different people though. There is an abosolutely hilarous quote from the the Detroit News:

We could be .. I was talking about the guy in the stands .. not the guy on the court

He was on top of me, pummeling me and he said, "Did you do it? Did you do it?' And I said, 'No, man, no.' He kind of shoved me and went off on other people."

Artest totally lost his cool and made things worse

There isn't a downside. I'm just saying that we should hold to constitutional government and you won't have stadiums being financed by the public, again, unless it's part of a lease that brings in revenue.

But that has nothing to do with me enjoying sport.

Indiana played great, they deserved to win; it shouldn't have ended like that.

It was actually a pretty good game. Indiana was far better and did win big. Artest just can't stand success- had to foul Wallace, had to run in the stands, had to punch the guy on the court. What a jerk. Pacers won the game but lost a lot of pride tonight

But I can understand why he [Artest] did it.

Sure, it's easy to understand: He's an out of control punk who just got his ass kicked by Ben Wallace and then snapped when doused with beer by a (probably drunk) fan. .....and then proceeded to find a weaker target to retaliate against (which happened to be an innocent guy). In the process, he knocked over several other innocents.

I hope he gets banned for life.

"Cynthia McKinney is actually somebody we actually love having there (elected representative). She's gonna be fodder for this program. She's an absolute nut. A total whacko. She and Gerrard Warren of the Cleveland Browns oughta get together. These two, combined, may have the IQ of a pencil eraser.
You gotta remember Rush is a :spit: Stoolers fan. Warren didn't do anything other than talk a little pre-game stuff.

As I'm sure Condi Rice (a Browns fan) would point out, that's well short of spitting on an opponent during pregame, like Joey Porter did.

The Pacers were hardly innocent in this one. I saw one of their players trying to square off with a cop.

Guaranteed next week, Greta Van Susterin will have all the lawyers talking about this.

If someone charged into my cubicle at work, drenched me with beer and proceeded to pick up a chair and throw it at my head I might find it hard to remain above the fray.

True. But what if you ran over two secretaries (injuring both) and punched someone who just happened to be standing nearby? Artest didn't just fail to stay out of the fray (it might have actually been funny if he had grabbed a beer and thrown one back), he started a whole new, highly escalated fray.

I agree with you; as bad as it was, if Artest had stayed on the scorer's table, it wouldn't have spun out of control.

The game is being replayed right now on ESPN 2.

They're in the 2nd quarter, 5:30 left.

My 76 year old mom could foul harder.

Yeah it wasn't that hard. Ben *would* have been the only one penalized, until the bigger fracas erupted.

So how smart is Artest- runs up to guy with large beer in his hands and says "did you throw it" Yeah fool that's it's right here in my hand.....I loved it when he got the hugh beer direct in the face after he slammed the innocent guy. Artest caused this whole thing

Of course it's wrong. Artest isn't playing with a full deck or something.

He went off in the right direction. He just started wailing on the wrong dude. At least there seem to have been no serious injuries.

Have we reached the point where we should no longer sell alcohol at NBA games?

Are not the white fans who attacked our brave professional athletes guilty of hate crimes?

I would think that by default, whenever people start fighting, there's a certain amount of hate involved.

Oh, I know absolutely nothing about any sports whatsoever. It was pure coincidence that I'm at work listening to my taped airing of Rush from that day that he mentioned that guy's name in the pic.

I tape every one of Rush's shows and listen to them days later while at work. I have tapes back to August's shows.

You're right. One thing led to another and it quickly spun out of control. It looked Jackson and O'Neal did more than just defend Artest. I think their suspensions will be longer than his.

big difference between a beer and piss

No more different than "before" and "after".

Yep .. he went charging and swinging without knowing who did it ..

Also .. I'm not trying to making excuses for the fans reactions and throwing their drinks at the team as they were leaving the court .. because it was wrong

But that was done because many on the team rushed the stands and started swinging also

There are security guards all over that place .. the team should have stayed on the court and let the guards handle it

ESPN is wrong to just blame the fans ... BOTH sides are at fault
