Big time fist throwing. Fans, players and more. Any thoughts ?
the ESPN whores are spinning this as soley a fan provocation
Feel the same but there are fights at my kids Pop warner games too, Thank God she just a cheerleader.
Wow!! a Redskin Alum, in AZ..on Freep. Small World, good to see you.
The former Atheletes and Athelete sycophants on ESPN are definately circling the wagons against the ticket buyers on this one.
Can anyone tell me how much tickets to NBA games go for these days? Whatever it is, it's too much when paying spectators are subjected to being attacked by players.
How is it out-of-control?
Do you know how many people I've been involved in apprehending for shoplifting or how many get kicked out of bars for instigating fights, or for vandalism?
What about those punks that dropped a turkey off the overpass? Was it out of control athletics, or is it merely the fact that some people are jerks, regardless of the endeavor?
You can reminisce about Miami(Ohio) but the fact is, even BEFORE your era there were complaints about college athletics. Many didn't view YOU as pure, and here's another thing: If I'm bringing in money and helping the school support programs that don't earn any money(in fact, only suck money from the general fund) why shouldn't I be compensated or allowed to have a job during the season?
I wonder how they'd be spinning if Artest knocked over a 3 year old little girl who hit her head and died...all over a thrown plastic cup. Artest is a punk.
I watched the game as it was happening - it appeared that way to me. I don't know how I'd react if someone came into my office and threw a cup of whatever at my face.
Artest will probably get some discipline here, but I don't blame him for blowing his lid.
Stephen A Smith is a no talent assclown.
Sorry, getting a beer thrown on you does not justify punching the crap out of a fan. I did not see who threw the chair, that's a different story.
In any case, the players were dead wrong chasing fans into the stands.
Any fan that went onto the floor to start sh*t should be prosecuted.
We can get more truth on CNN.</s>
Artest held back. Jackson was the one goin nuts.
It's like that. Maybe it wasn't that bad at Pop Warner years ago, but I don't really see this incident as being linked with the coarsening of society and sport.
And again, as people have pointed out, its MUCH worse outside the US.
And the same people that talk about "thug street ballers" have nothing to say about their beloved hockey or baseball where men throw a ball 95 mph at someone's head and get into bench-clearing brawls over "perceived" slights.
Agree. Jackson puched at least 3 fans
At first I thought it was the immediate gut reaction of the ESPN guys. However, they are continuing to defend EVERY player and it's obvious they are shilling hard for their sugar daddies.
Another Redskin alum here - none of that RedHawk rubbish for me, thank you.
Fans AND the players who went into the stands.
Yeah, somehow I doubt Miami of Ohio was or ever has been considered some sort of nexus for the evils of big-time college football. I have little doubt that at more major college football programs in the 50s there was a lot of funny business, corruption, and misbehavior going on.
One of the main things is that a lot of the bad stuff in the "good ol' days" of sports was simply deliberately covered up or ignored by the media, or simply wasn't on tape and replayed endlessly.
I don't believe there's film of Cobb going into the stands to beat up a cripple. Or Ted Williams giving the middle finger to the fans at Fenway.
Is there film of Marichal hitting Roseboro in the head with a bat? I think I've seen still pics but not film.
The fans were AT FAULT.
They just showed some fan threw a BOTTLE(glass) of beer at an official!
Come on, the fights were over and some fans still hadn't done enough damage to sate them for the night.
I had enough and changed channels. (No not to CNN, don't watch them either.)
