Post-game press conference: Larry Brown now on saying the league needs to look at Artest's foul.

That's the least of it. Wallace was much worse. And I can't blame the Pacers one bit for going into the stands. The fans are getting worse and worse with throwing stuff at players, and the security in Detroit did nothing to stop these fans.

You out of your mind?

The fans became part of a mob, all triggered by that moron who threw the beer. Frankly, you THROW SOMETHING(which could have urine or some other biohazard) at a player and you SHOULD GET YOUR ARSE WHOOPED!

Does no one remember when the Bronco fans threw iceballs with batteries in them at the Raiders a few years back and some Raiders went into the stands?

Guess what? You overstep your bounds as a fan and ASSAULT(I dont care what form it takes) a player and you should get a swollen lip.

The Pacers weren't in the wrong and when it was over they got drenched with more objects, beer and popcorn.

Everything was fine until the octopus came flying out onto the court.

They were off to a good start, but now it's ALL the fans fault. Shades of the DNC.

Here's the funny part. Rick Mahorn was one of the people trying to break it up.

Don't look for very long suspensions. They just said the next time these two teams meet is on Christmas Day..

That is the NBAs biggest day of the year until playoffs. The other game that day is Miami v. Lakers.

Bet the league will make sure that Artest, and Wallace O'Neal, and any other STAR player will be there for the Christmas Day game. It's marketing, baby!!

Uh, the fans are at fault here.

Uh, both fans and players are at fault here. But the latter should know better than to physically go after the former, even if it was "merely" retaliation. The league is going to come down hard on these guys, and justifiably.

Little Davy Stern will suspend them retroactively so that they are eligible for the 12/25 game.

I seem to forget the part where the fans flagrantly fouled Ben Wallace and then rushed the bench. The fans didnt start anything. Artest and those other criminals provoked Wallace just they do in every game when they play matatdor defense the take cheap shots. Artest started it Detriot threw it back in their faces. I hope they're all criminally charged.

Yeah, Old fogey nostalgia really runs rampant in sports; and a lot of the comments about sports on threads, talk radio, just seem to be the same old cliches about everything going to hell in a handbasket.

Don't you get sick of that? The time when most sports fans came of age as a fan is the most glorified in their own mind. Baseball and Football were never no magical as they were when I was a child in the 60's. No way does sports today have the same luster as it did to me then. I am sure the most magical period in baseball for my Dad was the 30's and the 60's paled in comparison to that time. And I am logical to know that its not because the sports have deteriorated. 75 percent of the player in the 60's probably could not make rosters today. The product is better but not as magical and the reason it is not is all in our heads. Nothing wrong with that. IT is the nature of nostalgia.

Exactly, right. This is definitely what legends are made of.

And the fact is, there's been worse in sports and worse figures than these "rapper thugs" as so many racists on this board like to talk about.

Look at yer average NBA player......look at where he comes from, the 'culture' he knows.

The NBA has become a league of semi-literate thugs. No thank you.

Since Artest is already in trouble, I would say he is a gonner. The Indianapolis Star website isn't updated yet. It will be interesting to see what they say.

Indiana coach: "My players showed great restraint."

It would be funny if it weren't so sad.

Charging into the stands is definitely wrong. They needed to let security handle it. I think the players who went after the fans are going to face league punishment. We have already seen this happen in baseball.

But that's the problem -- the security didn't handle it. Heck, after all this happened, there were fans walking right on the court and harassing the Pistons players!
