Jurors turn focus to Scott Peterson's fishing boat

REDWOOD CITY, Calif. — Jurors in Scott Peterson's capital murder trial want to see the boat the fertilizer salesman allegedly used to dump his wife's body in the San Francisco Bay, according to two sources close to the case.

The panel wrote a note to Judge Alfred Delucchi Friday requesting an inspection of the 14-foot aluminum Gamefisher Peterson took out on the bay Dec. 24, 2002, the day he reported his wife, Laci, missing.

The sources confirmed to Court TV that the boat will be brought to the courthouse and jurors will see it Monday.

The request to see the boat came as the panel completed a third day of deliberations without reaching a verdict. The six men and six women have weighed evidence for nearly 19 hours. They will spend the weekend sequestered at a hotel, but they are not permitted to discuss the case until they return to the jury room at about 8 a.m. Monday.

Story continues ........

I heard Arafat is dead or the plug is about to be pulled, but Andrea Mitchel on MSNBC is completely clueless and says his condition is "up in the air".

(LOL--um, maybe he's in the air but headed "down"?)

Thanks...I went back and looked to fix it in my mind...Kim robbed the house AND TOOK LACI'S WEDDING DRESS. Man...she is goofy....of all things. I'd guess she was either drooling over Scott or had a quickie with him at some point.

I believe you're right that Karen Servas is straight but I'm still wondering why she didn't knock on Laci's door. It's not like it was 2 in the morning and she was 7 months pregnant. Doesn't quite make sense to me.

Clips of boat video being shown on Fox. Pulling the body up and over the side is made to look like it would not work. Problem is, the guy is standing and pulling the body from above, should be kneeling in the bottom of the boat and pushing the body up and over the side while keeping the bulk of his weight centered or on the opposite side.

The best way would be to drape the body over the sides at the front of the boat and push it up and over the front. All that weight in the back (engine, gas, etc.) of the boat would stabilize it.

I think he has been dead for days...JMO
My Uncle who was a Mayor in the suburbs here was diagnosed with terminal cancer some years ago. His inner circle kept it top secret in anticipation of a huge power struggle between the trustees.
I think the same happened here....and what a coinky-dink that the head honcho Palestinians were making their way to Paris.

I've wondered that at times, too. But we don't know how often MacKenzie may have wondered out of the yarn and needed to be put back in.

If the house was closed up, it probably looked like no one was home. One car gone on Christmas Eve would suggest that they were out shopping or something.

This would be a different trial if she would have knocked, wouldn't it!

One of the media, Abrams?, who is reporting on this case says maybe we're looking at the delay and instructions wrong. All the items the jurors called for are related to premeditation. It was a very good dissertation. Some people, no matter what, will not opt for the death penalty but are likely not to admit it since it's in their mind...and we can't read minds. There might be all kinds of evidence but they can still conjure up accidental as an option. I think that is what Gregaros was counting on as his worst result....Life imprisonment. A hung jury would be his best result as he would not retry....Too risky. Too him, this is a notch in his legal career..Trying a capital case with a mother and an unborn. He'll be in the legal books forever.

That was MG's demo or that kooky PI's demo?
I forgot his name, but that demo was a joke. That boat didn't even have a motor on it.

I've been reading through a bunch of the threads... They're hysterical!!!

May he rot! I have a hard time capturing how horrific his acts were, when talking to my kids. It's so sad to see how commonplace terror is in our world...

I tell them that Arafat was a terrorist before terrorism was cool. :-(

"-- but after yesterday's boat business I became concerned".

I can't remember if Laci had a cement block attached to her? Can you clear that up for me?

I was a little worried yesterday up until it was reported that by the end of the day the Jurors were asking for more exhibits.
They are still working hard, and after all...there is 5 months worth of testimony to go thru.
Nancy said it best last night. In CA, unlike other states, the evidence does not automatically go back into the deliberation room with them, just their notes. It has to be requested.
And wouldn't it be so WRONG if they did NOT request any evidence to be reviewed??

You're statement raises the thought that this may have occurred before and may have happened a couple of times... but the dog had a leash on....so I assume it's different.

My thought is: Did Scott train Mackenzie to "find Laci" on command? Is that why he was in the drive (where the police dog caught Laci's scent) rather than barking at the front door? If only dogs could talk or did she....and we didn't good enough.

"I noticed how small that boat was. It was not exactly the type of vessel one could discretely dispose of a body. I had been undr the assumption that since it was the bay, it was a much larger boat."

Laci wasn't a whale. 14 feet is plenty big enough to lay a body in. Also I have read that when the tides are out the bay is not much more than 2 feet deep. That is hard for me to believe though.

Her head was missing, her feet and I believe one/half of one leg....giving a strong implication that these lacking parts were under a different stress. It's also possible that the skull, because of it's shape and weight and filled with bottom muck stayed sunk.

Thank you for the added information on what they're doing. I should know better than to rely solely on "pundits" (ack).

, but it does seem that a smart man would not use that boat to dump his wife in the bay. Every boat near him could see everything in it

No one here will argue that he is smart. My opinion....he chose Dec 23-24 for the very reason that there would be no boats near him to see what he was doing.

Surely you cannot believe that there are NO places in the bay that are 2 feet deep.
