Former CBS News anchor Dan Rather is teaching an online course in journalism called “finding the truth in the news” at UDemy. Now, he’s taken to Facebook to say that the media, the American people, and the political class has to call out President Trump on his lies. No, this isn’t the Onion.“These are not normal times. These are extraordinary times. And extraordinary times call for extraordinary measures,” wrote Rather. “What can we do? We can all step up and say simply and without equivocation. "A lie, is a lie, is a lie!" And if someone won't say it, those...

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi blamed former President George W. Bush and the Republicans on Friday for the more than $9 trillion that has been added to the national debt under President Obama's watch. Pelosi argued that under Obama, the annual budget deficit, which contributes to the national debt, has been reduced dramatically, and said that without Obama's work, the national debt would be even higher. She also mostly blamed Bush for not paying for the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. "When President Obama stood on the steps on the Capitol eight years from next week, the [budget] deficit was...

George W. Bush has been very quiet so far this year. He has not offered any political opinions, one way or the other. That is in keeping with tradition. Traditionally, ex-presidents have kept out of politics. But 2016 is not a typical year. If Hillary wins, there simply will be no more Republican presidents. Unrestricted immigration will see to that. So W, do your country one last service. Endorse Donald Trump for president.

My Fox colleagues are in Cleveland, diligently interviewing Republicans. Next week, they'll interview Democrats. I'm glad they do it -- because I despise most politicians. There are exceptions, of course, but after years of reporting, I've concluded that most politicians have little to say that's interesting, and many are craven opportunists, desperate to rule over others. A few stand out, like former Congressman Anthony Weiner. Like many politicians, he's never held a real job. He's run for office or worked for politicians all his life. Weiner married one of Hillary Clinton's closest advisers, passionately pushed leftists' bad ideas and was...

Cleveland (CNN)Former President George W. Bush fretted to a group of former aides and advisers in April that he was worried he could be the "last Republican president." The 43rd president's remark, at a gathering in Dallas of his administration's staffers, reflected a dim view of the party's prospects at a time when the primary contest was realistically down to Donald Trump and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz.

President Obama and former President George W. Bush spoke Tuesday at a funeral service for the five slain Dallas police officers. There were many powerful moments throughout the service, but there is one moment that has been turning heads -- President Bush's dance moves during "Battle Hymn of the Republic." The former president swayed and marched in place. Michelle Obama, who was standing to Bush's left and holding hands with him, appeared surprised at first and then smiled.

Ex-London mayor Boris Johnson has ruled himself out of the race to be the next Conservative leader and prime minister. In a speech in London - billed as his campaign launch - Mr Johnson said he did not believe he could provide the leadership or unity needed... Addressing reporters in a new conference just moments before the deadline for nominations passed, Mr Johnson said the next Conservative leader would have to unify his party and ensure that Britain stood tall in the world. "Having consulted colleagues and in view of the circumstances in Parliament, I have concluded that person cannot...

According to LSU, Mike VI has been diagnosed with spindle cell sarcoma. He has a tumor in his face near his nose. "Currently, Mike's attitude and demeanor are unchanged, and he does not appear to be in pain," LSU said. His veterinary team, led by Dr. David Baker, has come up with a treatment plan that will hopefully extend his life for another one to two years. Without treatment, LSU said he would die in one to two months.

AUSTIN — With Donald Trump now the presumptive Republican presidential nominee, former President George W. Bush “does not plan to participate in or comment on the presidential race,” a spokesman said Wednesday. ... And George W. Bush — whose decision was first reported by The Associated Press – isn’t the only one in his family who will be sitting out the election. A spokesman for George H.W. Bush told The Texas Tribune that the former president is “retired from politics.” “He came out of retirement to do a few things for Jeb,” Bush 41 spokesman Jim McGrath told the media...

- The Donald parades in a ludicrous left-wing canard. Donald Trump took a page from MoveOn.org in the Republican debate in South Carolina on Saturday night. Speaking of the Bush decision to go to war in Iraq, Trump asserted: “I want to tell you, they lied. They said there were weapons of mass destruction. There were none. And they knew there were none.†The “they†means George W. Bush, and (we must assume) basically Bush’s administration and entire security and foreign-policy and intelligence team. Trump’s accusation is outrageous. This is Code Pink/International A.N.S.W.E.R.-type stuff. Is Donald Trump trying to win...

After George W. Bush attacked Ted Cruz over the weekend, and Karl Rove followed up with attacks today, Conservative Review’s Editor in Chief Mark Levin dedicated the first hour of his program to going through the ways the Bush establishment (Bushtablishment) has repeatedly squandered conservative victories. Levin went through how the Bushtablishment squandered two historic victories by Ronald Reagan by squishing. Levin explained that by embracing liberal policies the Bushtablishment GOP kept losing elections. Listen in as Levin explains how Bushtablishment governance lead to the Republican Party losing the congressional majority in 2006, which gave the nation the Obama years....

nside a sleek Denver condominium, George W. Bush let a hundred donors to his brother’s campaign in on a secret. Of all the rival Republican candidates, there is one who gets under the former president’s skin, who he views as perhaps Jeb Bush’s most serious rival for the party’s nomination. It isn’t Donald Trump, whose withering insults have sought to make Jeb pay a political price for his brother’s presidency. It also isn’t Marco Rubio, Jeb’s former understudy who now poses a serious threat to his establishment support. “I just don’t like the guy,” Bush said Sunday night, according to...

He didn’t plan to say it. But two hours into the second Republican presidential debate, Jeb Bush took a firm stand. “He kept us safe,” he said. The quick and simple defense of his brother, former president George W. Bush, earned one of the loudest rounds of applause of the night. Aides said it was an impromptu decision spurred by an attack from Donald Trump, the GOP front-runner. But those four words refocused a campaign in desperate need of a “moment,” and signaled the extent to which Jeb Bush has become comfortable — even eager — to highlight rather than...

On a recent summer evening following a speech to local Republicans in Tuscaloosa, Alabama, Sen. Ted Cruz spoke with National Journal for more than an hour about the 2016 presidential race. Cruz, known to rarely veer off-message, carefully evaded a series of questions about his friend and political ally Donald Trump. But the Texas senator offered his candid thoughts on the Bush family, the media coverage of his campaign, and the toll a presidential campaign takes on a young family. What follows are excerpts of that conversation, edited for length and clarity. NJ: You have supported Donald Trump while other...

Being summoned for jury duty at the George L Allen Sr Courts Building in downtown Dallas was anything but dull for Sheri Coleman. In fact, Coleman and other jurors were in for quite the surprise when former President George W. Bush also showed up for jury duty at Judge Eric Moye’s court on the 14th civil district. “They made it seem like it was an anonymous juror that never showed up and then they brought him in,” she said. Coleman, of Dallas, said Bush spent time talking to the other jurors and took photos and spoke with everyone. She said...

Bush’s spokesman Freddy Ford confirmed the president was summoned for jury duty and said Bush was at the courthouse in the 600 block of Commerce Street from about 8:50 a.m. until just before noon. Secret service could be seen outside Moye’s court on the 5th floor of the courthouse. Despite sitting through the jury selection panel, the former president was not picked to serve as a juror. ...

W just said that Jeb AND Hillary will "elevate the discourse" of the upcoming election. Good grief. Pardon me while I get sick. This was on the NBC overnight news. Maybe there's already an article on it.

Former President George W. Bush and President Barack Obama.Former President George W. Bush apparently did something over the weekend that is quite rare for him: He criticized his successor in the White House. According to multiple reports on a closed-door Saturday event with Jewish donors, Bush offered his harshest public assessment of President Barack Obama's foreign policy. Bloomberg's Josh Rogin reported that Bush said Obama had caused the US to "retreat" around the world and that Obama had charted the wrong course in his nuclear negotiations with Iran

In a closed-door meeting with Jewish Donors Saturday night, former President George W. Bush delivered his harshest public criticisms to date against his successor on foreign policy, saying that President Barack Obama is being naïve about Iran and the pending nuclear deal and losing the war against the Islamic State. One attendee at the Republican Jewish Coalition session, held at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas with owner Sheldon Adelson in attendance, transcribed large portions of Bush's remarks. The former president, who rarely ever criticizes Obama in public, at first remarked that the idea of re-entering the political arena was...
