Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate is asking legislators to quickly approve a bill that would require voters to show some form of identification before casting a ballot. “This bill will make it difficult to cheat the system,” Pate says. The bill Pate seeks would require Iowans to show a driver’s license, a military ID, their passport or a voter ID card issued by his office to be eligible to vote in their precinct on Election Day.

First-time voter Stephanie Rodriguez, the daughter of illegal immigrants, told an MSNBC reporter Friday she is the only person in her family that can legally vote. Rodriguez, a voter in Arizona, said she cast her vote because of immigration. "I was motivated to vote by my mother, who is not able to vote, as soon as my ballot arrived at home," Rodriguez said. "She was like here it is, Stephanie, you can do it!"

HARRISBURG - Authorities are investigating voter registration irregularities in Pennsylvania, Attorney General Bruce Beemer announced Friday. Beemer released the following statement Friday afternoon: “The Office of Attorney General and the Pennsylvania State Police are investigating a pattern of voter registration irregularities across the Commonwealth. It is premature to reach any conclusion. At this stage of the investigation there is no evidence of voter fraud. Pennsylvania state police have raided a Delaware County political field office seeking evidence of possible voter-registration fraud, according to court records. HARRISONBURG — Charges are likely to be filed before Election Day in the case involving a James Madison University student, the voter registration organization he worked for, and the submission of false voter-registration applications. Harrisonburg Director of Elections Debbie Logan, told the city Electoral Board on Wednesday that the FBI had given her that information and the names of the 19 people who were falsely registered, five of them deceased. Previous reports said that all 19 false registration applications were in the names of the deceased.
