The Oscar-nominated "Memento" writer says "everyone would benefit from reading" the sci-fi trilogy HBO and Warner Bros. TV are teaming to produce a series based on Isaac Asimov's "Foundation" trilogy that will be written and produced by "Interstellar" writer Jonathan Nolan, multiple individuals familiar with the project have told TheWrap. Nolan, who is already working with HBO on "Westworld," has been quietly developing the project for the last several months. He recently tipped his hand to Indiewire, which asked him, 'what's the one piece of science fiction you truly love that people don't know enough about?'

Starz has ordered a follow-up series to the cult “Evil Dead” film franchise, titled “Ash vs. Evil Dead.” The new show will reteam director Sam Raimi with longtime producing partner Rob Tapert and star Bruce Campbell, who will reprise his iconic role as Ash, the stock boy, aging lothario and chainsaw-handed monster hunter who has spent the last 30 years avoiding responsibility, maturity and the terrors of the Evil Dead.

Tonight, an excellent West German war movie about the military disaster at Stalingrad. Joachim Hansen is Lt. Gerd Wisse, an idealistic young lieutenant who begins to see things very differently while on the Eastern Front. Includes several semi-historical scenes involving German command (Paulus, Hitler, etc.) and some of the best use of actual war footage I've seen in a movie. In German with English subtitles.
