Democrat President Joe Biden’s U.S. Ambassador to Germany, Amy Gutmann, has returned to the United States just days after first reporting for duty during the Munich Security Conference, taking a commercial flight back to the States after Vice President Kamala Harris refused to let her fly home on Air Force Two. Gutmann, who presented her credentials just days ago — Thursday of last week — to begin work as the U.S. Ambassador to Germany, attended meetings at the Munich Security Conference with world leaders and fellow top U.S. officials, including Harris and Secretary of State Antony Blinken. Instead of staying...

Thursday night was the final night of the Republican National Convention, concluding with President Donald Trump’s acceptance speech. And while they didn’t get as unhinged as they did on Tuesday night for Melania Trump’s speech, the Donald still managed to set off Hollywood’s most outspoken liberal actors on Twitter. Actress Yvette Nicole Brown had plenty of nasty words for President Trump, calling him “evil” and “that vile cretin.” She added in Ivanka for good measure, saying, “She and her daddy are trash,” and mocking her as “the complicit little ‘princess’” speaking “at Dear Leader’s illegal #SouthLawn klan rally.” She even...

A number of people in politics, the media and elsewhere are openly speculating that if Democrats wind up with a “brokered convention,” with no strong or viable nominee evident, Hillary Clinton might enter the arena as the “savior” who could unite the delegates and go on to defeat President Donald Trump. Clinton herself seemed to throw shade at that theory during an interview with Variety at the Sundance Film Festival. When asked about the “urge” to beat Trump, the former Democratic nominee said: “Yeah, I certainly feel the urge because I feel the 2016 election was a really odd time...

MSNBC host Rachel Maddow kept it together on Friday night, but just barely. Returning unexpectedly from a fishing trip in Tennessee to broadcast in the wake of news that the newly-released Mueller report will not include an indictment of President Donald Trump, Maddow spent the better part of her Friday night opening segment seemingly on the verge of tears.

Nearly 200,000 people remained under evacuation orders Monday as California authorities try to fix erosion of the emergency spillway at the nation's tallest dam that could unleash uncontrolled flood waters if it fails. About 150 miles northeast of San Francisco, Lake Oroville - one of California's largest man-made lakes - had water levels so high that an emergency spillway was used Saturday for the first time in almost 50 years. The evacuation was ordered Sunday afternoon after engineers spotted a hole on the concrete lip of the secondary spillway for the 770-foot-tall Oroville Dam and told authorities that it could...

Moscow is now home to 2 million Muslims - more than any other city in Europe. So when the faithful gathered Tuesday for the start of the Eid al-Adha holiday, tens of thousands of men unrolled their prayer mats on the asphalt of Moscow’s streets. Last year, they prayed outside in rain and snow. Looming overhead were the new minarets of the Moscow Cathedral Mosque, a century-old mosque that is now being expanded. It is one of only four mosques in all of Moscow. “Certainly mosques are needed. Mosques are needed in each micro-district,” said Abdul Bari Sultanov, a Russian...

In the September edition of the Ladies' Home Journal Michelle Obama lets slip that she does the occasional dietary cleanse. Generally a cleanse involves a very low calorie quasi fast during which the cleanser may also take natural laxatives. The theory behind most cleanses is that you excrete toxins from your body. Mainstream medicine scoffs at cleanses, points out that there is no evidence that they are even necessary or work, and notes that the liver, kidneys, lungs, and intestines are very efficient filters. In reaction to the First Lady's revelation mainstream medical commentators gently registered concern, and the First...

Clinton: Obama has proven his toughness, international savvy Posted: 10:34 AM ET WASHINGTON (CNN) — Hillary Clinton is convinced. After questioning Barack Obama's international savvy and toughness while campaigning against him last year, the secretary of state said Sunday she has seen plenty of both from the president so far. "Those were appropriate issues to raise in the campaign," Mrs. Clinton said Sunday on the NBC program "Meet the Press." She went on to declare: "I'm here to say that I think his performance in office has been incredible." Asked specifically about her campaign criticisms, Mrs. Clinton said, "I don't...

Ward "Little Eichmanns" Churchill has met his own Little Big HornAcademic Fraud and pretend Indian Ward Churchill got the ultimate smackdown from Judge Larry Naves. No money, no reinstatement, nada. He even took back the $1 settlement the last jury gave him. You get a big award of doodly-squat, tonto! Thus ends the Churchill-CU Circus. Naves is a well-respected judge appointed by Democrat Roy Romer, so this will not be overturned. Even the Daily Camera, newspaper of the People's Republic of Boulder, says it's past time to kick this charlatan to the curb. Native American-Hippie Chic Here in the West,...

Former US lawmaker Cynthia McKinney, who is in an Israeli jail for trying to take humanitarian aid to Gaza, says the White House has done nothing to secure her release. Speaking to Press TV from inside the Israeli jail, she said US taxpayers paid for Israel's 22-day war on the Gaza Strip. “Operation Cast Lead was made possible by the US taxpayers' gift to the Israeli war machine in the form of F16s, helicopters gunship, white phosphorous, depleted uranium, cluster bombs and anything that kills," she told Press TV from inside the Israeli jail on Saturday. McKinney has been in...

"Preparing for English-speaking visitors, a restaurant in China recently ran its name through an online translator, took the result, then purchased and mounted a large sign displaying the English version of their name: Translate server error." This one has been around for a couple of weeks but it's destined to become a classic. http://adweek.blogs.com/adfreak/2008/07/then-well-grab.htmlOf all the poorly translated signs that can baffle English-speaking visitors to China, this one takes the cake for the most epic of all possible fails. And, as Dear Jane Sample notes, it’s also a good reason to invest in something more than a Web-based translator. —Posted...

SAN FRANCISCO - Burning Man became Burnt Man four days early on Tuesday, and a San Francisco performance artist was arrested on suspicion of igniting the signature figure of the counterculture festival in the remote Nevada desert. The early morning fire scorched about 85 percent of the structure, Burning Man spokeswoman Andie Grace said. Event engineers decided it would be best to dismantle it and rebuild a less elaborate version, accomplishing in two days what normally takes weeks so the figure would be finished in time for Saturday night's scheduled burning, she said. The approximately 40-foot-tall wood and neon structure...

(AP) Washington, DC 09-27-2006 [revised, witness added]George Allen's pediatrician says he heard the then-toddler Allen utter the "N word" in an 1956 office visit when an African-American nurse administered a tetanus shot. Dr. Peter Moore, 97, said he clearly heard Allen say the epithet and wrote it in his notes in case Allen would someday run for office. Earlier claims that the young Allen was asking for his "Tigger" doll for comfort have been refuted by testimony from other toddlers who were there at the time. Joan Madsen, now a staffer to Sen, Barbara Boxer (D-CA), "swears" that she heard...

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana --- The initial claims by New Orleans and Louisiana officials that tens of thousands of people were killed by Hurricane Katrina are apparently off by tens of thousands. When asked to explain such a huge discrepancy, Mayor Nagin of New Orleans blamed the failed school system that was destroyed by the Bush Administration. "If the school system here wasn't such a failure, then maybe our officials could count better," said Nagin. "Bush and his Administration destroyed our public school system by lowering taxes and passing No Child Left Behind. I even had trouble counting the number of...

Washington—In what appeared to be a shrewd Constitutional move, Bush appointed John Bolton as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, sticking it to Senate Democrats and forcing France to immediately withdraw. The sudden move stunned President Jacques Chirac, forcing him to tears. “I made the call to Kofi Annan,” cried Chirac. “I can’t believe Bush did this to us. With this bully in office, no country is safe from occupation!” Bush invoked his renegade constitutional authority to fill an open job while Congress was in recess, instead of reportedly trying to resolve a deadlock with senators who had called Bolton...

Washington—In a stunning twist of events, key Democrats have vowed to break the will of Supreme Court nominee John Roberts. After an eight hour meeting behind closed doors—consisting of Democratic senators Ted Kennedy, Dick Durbin, Patrick Leahy, Barbara Boxer and John Kerry—the senators emerged ready to pounce on Roberts. “This nominee is beyond the pale,” said Sen. Ted Kennedy, D-MA, as he stepped to the podium. “Bush thinks he’s laid down the law, but he hasn’t seen nothing yet. We’re gonna break the man’s will. Make him wish he was never born. Hurt him, emasculate him and keep him from...

NAIROBI (AFP) - Former US president Bill Clinton, who was visiting Kenya, will probably never hear about it but he's being offered 20 head of cattle and 40 goats for the hand of his daughter in marriage. The 36-year-old bachelor, Godwin Kipkemoi Chepkurgor, has waited five years after writing to the president and vows to remain unmarried until he gets an answer. "I am ready to wait for as long as I can," said Cheprkurgor, who is a municipal councillor in Kenya's Rift Valler town of Nakuru. Chepkurgor's initial efforts to reach Clinton during his visit to Uganda in 2000...
