Below you will find the text of an essay posted on FreeRepublic.com Tuesday night by a man named Chris Davis.
I signed off the computer last night in sheer boredom in the midst of the speechifying after the New Hampshire primary, and I went about the house doing other productive, fun things. When I got into work in the morning and fired up the computer, my brother sent me a note, along with seven or eight other people saying you will not believe this post on Free Republic about you. I went there and read it. I was rendered silent and speechless. It blew me away.
To have somebody take the time not just to write it, but to even think and feel that is overwhelming to me. At the end of Wednesday's program, Chris Davis called in and I thanked him personally by making him a member of Rush 24/7 and giving him a few items from the EIB Store.
It's just one of the nicest things that somebody I don't even know has ever said about me, Chris, and I can't thank you enough.
Rush Limbaugh is "The Passion"

Make no mistake. Rush Limbaugh is The Passion. He is the passion of conservatism, the very pulse, bounding through the veins of the nation. He produces life with every heartbeat of his show as he scoffs at liberals and gives us his interpretation of conservative truth. His brand of ideology shakes the very foundations of liberalism.
He follows in the footsteps of giants, such as George Washington, Thomas Paine, and Ronald Reagan, promoting the ideals of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. He broadcasts affectionately trying to steer growing government towards the ideals of the Constitution.
He believes that Americans with limited government are better Americans. He believes that Americans shouldnt murder babies in the womb. He believes that tax cuts are good for the economy. And finally, he believes safe Americans living free are the best Americans of all.
Boldly he pronounces the lies of liberalism and asserting daily doses of truth. With resounding conviction, he echoes the sentiments of the Founding Fathers, evoking the wrath of those who oppose him. The Passion. His passion forces him to carry the torch of liberty and justice, inflicting backlash, lies, and corruption at his doorstep. The compassionate liberals, those that believe in fair play and equal justice, will do almost anything to berate him.
Mildly he sits and passes on his message, his passion, his views, his legacy. A legacy of truth, justice, and the conservative American way. He hands his gift down day after day, show after show. He will live as one of the greatest men in conservative history correct 98.4% of the time. There are few men in history that has received the same award as President Ronald Reagan. There are fewer men that could go on day after day under the scrutiny he faces. And there are only a handful of men that could keep themselves reserved while suffering the onslaught of the visceral hatred of compassionate liberals.
Quite frankly, I dont know how he does it. How does he stand so strong against so much? How does he execute his duties so faithfully with the onslaught of these lies? How does he continue to go on the air? Especially when the people that presume to blackmail him walk free! The Passion. Thats how.
As I listened to his show today, January 27, 2004, I could hear The Passion. Liberal after liberal tried to infiltrate the show and discredit the man behind the Golden EIB Microphone. He was fiery. He was excellent. Hed had enough. They failed to extinguish him.
Last night, his attorney, Roy Black, was filled with The Passion. Filled so full that it seemed as if Rush himself were sitting there screaming the answers, I DID NOT DO THIS!
I was enthralled. I was overjoyed. I felt giddy, like a kid in a candy store. I knew for the first time in months as if justice had taken a direct blow to the lies and corruption creeping into Rush Limbaughs life. Never had I wavered. Never had I been so steadfast in my disbelief of the news media. I never believed the allegations. Not once. Not until Rush himself admitted it.
I was disappointed when I heard Rush was addicted to prescription painkillers. Why, you ask? Because I had placed him on so high a pedestal, considering him the greatest man in the world. You know what? I still do. Despite all the claims, I still consider him the greatest conservative Ill ever know.
I know youre saying Im crazy. I know youre telling me to check myself into therapy, but its true. I cant help it. I cant help but applaud a man with this many medical conditions going on day after day after day after day, executing liberal lies with impunity. I have too much respect and admiration for the man that put his own show ahead of pain, pushing himself into addiction and blackmail. Too much admiration for the man that removed the disease, the man that removed liberalism.
Liberalism was planted deep within me, as if it were a parasite feeding on me. Rush cut it out like a surgeon excising a cancerous tumor, giving me the opportunity to experience life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. He gave me the chance of a lifetime. The lone beacon of opposition handed me a certainty, a guarantee no person had ever given me before. No, he didnt come to Texas and brainwash me. He presented his case like he does every single day-clearly, concisely and effectively, planting the seed of common sense in my brain. By sowing that seed, he also gave me hope, happiness, and The Passion.
The Passion to live life, to succeed again and again, and to not feel guilty about creating wealth. He handed me an education in advanced conservative studies and said, Go forth and produce young man. Give life everything youve got. And I do. I thank him from the bottom of my heart. I owe at a minimum my undying support and loyalty.
Everyday Rush withstands the assaults, he strengthens my resolve to praise him more and more. The more the liberals bash Rush the more I salute him. The more they harangue him the more I respect him. They cannot or will they ever break my obstinate resolve. Instead, they have only succeeded in convincing me how corrupt, phony, and merciless they really are.
With Rush on the radio, I continue to conquer day after day, living in conservative principles, consumed with the fiery notion of my new life. I rebuke liberalism with special thanks to my educator. I love the life I have earned, as I pursue success after success, and eagerly wait another broadcast day of The Passion.

Every once in a while, a person comes along that leaves an indelible mark on Americas soul, forever changing the countrys direction. This person makes such an impact that they change the balance of power in America, leaving a legacy that even historians will take notice. But what if that person was Rush Limbaugh? What if he passed away and we didnt say how much we cared?
And as I stand crying at his eulogy, I admit I was wrong. Rush Hudson Limbaugh III was not "The Passion." He wasnt the passion of conservatism, nor was he the very pulse, pounding through the veins of a nation. He was much more than that.
He was the embodiment of conservatism and American ideals, living the fullest of lives. To Rush, service to his country meant advancing the conservative agenda. This cause would forever change the course of events in Americaa course that would ultimately place conservatives in power, promote liberty and establish a new media for the United States.
To understand Rush H. Limbaugh III, you only need to take a look at Ronald Reagan, Rush H. Limbaugh, Jr. and the patriarch, Rush Hudson Limbaugh. These men were largely responsible for creating "the most dangerous man in America."
Rush Limbaugh held Ronald Reagan "as one of the greatest presidents of all time and certainly in his lifetime." There was no greater president in the twentieth century than Ronald Reagan. He personified patriotism and all that America stood for. He conquered the Soviet Union, crushing the "Evil Empire," and loosening the communist jaws on the world without firing a single shot. He battled Russia, making critical strategic moves without launching a single missile or invading a single country. President Reagans policies allowed America to flourish while overcoming an enemy bent on taking over the world.
It was Rushs belief that Reagan "was so effective, so effusively optimistic," that it spawned a personal hatred of the man. Rush H. Limbaugh III adopted those principles in his radio and television shows. Rush, like Reagan, held the notion that it is the American people, working together as individuals that make this country great. It was those fundamentals that threatened and then created the visceral hatred by liberals.
Rush felt that by limiting government and unshackling the American peopleby giving them their God-given freedomthat no one can stop this great country. These beliefs were fostered by his father and grandfather, men that believed in the Founding Fathers and the indomitable human spirit.
In an excerpt of a speech given many times, Rushs father, Rush Limbaugh, Jr. talked about the Founding Fathers. "Of those 56 who signed the Declaration of Independence, nine died of wounds or hardships during the war," he said. "Five were captured and imprisoned, in each case with brutal treatment. Several lost wives, sons or entire families. One lost his 13 children. Two wives were brutally treated. All were at one time or another, the victims of manhunts and driven from their homes. Twelve signers had their homes completely burned. Seventeen lost everything they owned. Yet not one defected or went back on his pledged word. Their honor, and the nation they sacrificed so much to create, is still intact."
The speech, The Americans who Risked Everything, was included as an article supplement to the September 1997 issue of The Limbaugh Letter. In a forward to publishing the piece, Rush said, "I can think of no way to celebrate this nations legacy, than by publishing a speech written by my father. He delivered the oft-requested address locally a number of times, but he never saw it in print. My dad was renowned for his oratory and for his original mind; this speech is, I think, a superb demonstration of both. I will always be grateful to him for instilling in me a passion for the ideas and lives of Americas Founders, as well as a deep appreciation for the inspirational power of words which you will see evidenced here."
Those fundamentals were passed from the patriarch, Rush H. Limbaugh, Sr. to Rush H. Limbaugh, Jr.in turnpassing them to Rush Limbaugh III. Rush believed his grandfathers values, integrity and dignity were largely responsible for allowing his family to live a Norman Rockwell painting for most of their lives.
In an April 9, 1996 broadcast of the Rush Limbaugh TV Show, Rush said about his grandfather, "He worked all the way through school. From grade school through high schoolpaid his way through college doing carpentry work, waiting tables, assisting Methodist ministers as best he could. His family was farmers. He plowed the fields every morning before school. It was that, I think, which gave him a strong physical constitution that enabled him to go through his life with such energy. He argued sixty cases before the Missouri Supreme Court. He wrote, in effect, the book on probate law in Missouri in 1955. He was an ambassador to India in 1958 at the request of the United States State Department. India was recently liberated and he was asked to go to lecture on American constitutionality and the legal system in this country. And he accepted all of these assignments and opportunities with great pride and great relish. He was a patriot. I last spoke to him a couple of months ago, and all he cared about was the future of the country "
Those were the ethics handed to Rush Limbaugh III. Rush Limbaugh, Sr. executed his duties faithfully as well, in the hopes of a greater America. And in that noble effort, he passed his values and work ethic along. Rush took those principles and combined them with his God-given gift of speech. He took his ability to use words and put them to work for conservatism and Americas sake. He was a titan in the field of politics, yet remained humble to the very end. He was vilified for his positions. From abortion to Social Security, he remained optimistic, even when the assaults seemed insurmountable. Through terrible back pain, divorce and prescription drug addiction, he continued to fight socialism and retained faith in the greatest country in the world, America.
Now that Rush is gone, America will forever miss him. In America, we seem to forget how important people really are. We have a tendency to lash out at our own, despite their success or all theyve accomplished, never embracing them when we should. Youve heard, "Hes not on his game today. Hes boring, not the same old Rush. Hes just not as good as he used to be."
Those mutterings are from Americans that long forgot what America was like before Rush Limbaughs broadcasts. Would America have survived the liberal assault without him? Thank God we never had to find out. He prevailed, cutting the heart of socialism out of this country. And he did it very simply, by endorsing a conservative agenda, an agenda that propagated libertyspreading like a wildfire through the "New Media." The fire grew until the mainstream media was brought to its knees.
The man responsible was Rush Hudson Limbaugh III. It all began in 1984, in a radio station in Sacramento, California. The work ethic, values and principlesthose values actually held by the majority of the American peoplehad finally been validated in a broadcast, a huge voice on the "Golden EIB Microphone." If history is kindand it will be through Gods graceit will not just judge Rush Limbaugh as a great man, but judge him as a man responsible for breaking the grasp of socialism on America. It will judge him as a man that helped found the new truth.
Weve often heard, "Conservatism works. Every time its tried." And we are here to thank you, Rush, for your greatness. Were here to thank you for The Way Things Ought to Be and See I Told You So. Were here to thank you for keeping us sane during the Clinton administration, for battling liberalism, socialism and tyranny. Were hereat your funeralto thank you for The Rush Limbaugh Show, The Limbaugh Letter and for the Rush Limbaugh Television Show.
I would personally like to thank you for changing my life, for giving me the confidence to pursue my goals, never giving up when things looked bleak. Thank you for remaining optimistic through your darkest hours and for giving me that same optimism. Thank you so much for adhering to the principles of the Founding Fathers, for supporting the troops and for your love of America. And thank you, most of all, for your humor, your gentle nature and your never ending belief of capitalism. You were an inspiration to millions of Americans. Thank God you were there when we needed you the most.
You were a truly great man. Its a shame I didnt tell you sooner.
But whenever I wanted to advance conservatism, I thought of your words. And it did work, Rush, every time it was tried.
Rush Limbaugh is Still The Passion
Three weeks ago I lost my father. His health had deteriorated for a number of years, but the last few months things had been improving. And then one morning he couldnt breathe. By the time my mother called 911 he was gone. After getting the phone call, all time seemed to stop. Nothing mattered. I sat there stunned, wondering why it had to happen now. Why didnt I have a chance to say goodbye?
There are pivotal moments in everyones life. It had become abundantly clear that this was one of those moments. I could only hope that I was the kind of man that my father had aspired me to be. Did I work hard and face my responsibilities? Could I really say that my life had been successful to this point? In the midst of contemplation, came an unobtrusive voice from the radio pronouncing and teaching conservatism.
This voicecalming and reassuringhanded down his daily lesson, giving me the answer. The voice came from the man Id come to respect and admire. It came from the man that created a family within conservatism. It came from the man that had been educating me for thirteen years. The voice came from Rush Limbaugh, a man that ripped me from the jaws of liberalism and gave me a new, exhilarating and optimistic path in life.
For thirteen years, I watched, listened and read everything Rush Limbaugh created. The more I listened and read the more I began to understand the principles handed down by our Founding Fathers. Rush Limbaugh gave me a tutorial in conservative principles and taught me how to use those principles to acquire knowledge and achieve success.
Prior to Rush Limbaughs entry into my life, I had no other contact with conservatism. His daily lessons were invaluable to my maturity and my conservative growth as a man. Rush hadnt replaced my father, but had opened my eyes to an America I never knew existed. He grounded me in unemployment, capital gains and overall basic macroeconomics.
He instructed me to fight liberalism as found in the Declaration of Independence: That whenever any Form of Government becomes destructive of these ends, it is the Right of the People to alter or to abolish it, and to institute new Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and Happiness. Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security.
He made me laugh on September 16, 1992, when he debuted his television show with a blue dot in front of his face. He made me cry upon the broadcast after the passing of his mother. More importantly, he invited me into his conservative family in 1992 and I have never looked back. He bequeathed to me an education in Constitutional Studies 101 and I have been forever grateful. I can never repay him for his liberating gift. If I were to cut a check tomorrow, there is no amount of money that could reciprocate an equivalent gesture of the gift I received. So, in an excerpt of an essay, January 27, 2004, in response to the outrageous claims of the liberal Florida prosecutor, I wrote:

And there are only two men that couldve changed my life for the better. One was my father, the other Rush Limbaugh. These two men have had indelible impacts on my life, granting me a moral and conservative compass that guided me, and continues to guide me through lifes journey.
Rush Limbaugh isnt just a man behind a Golden EIB microphone. Hes an inspiration to America and Americans. Hes an educator of optimism, conservatism and capitalism. He emboldens people from coast to coast, battling the mainstream media bias that exists in our country today.
In Rushs broadcast, October 7, 2005, he said about William F. Buckley, Jr., His reputation is there; theres no question, but the best thing I guess I can say, is he was like a second father to me in the terms of learning and being inspired and wanting to emulate someone in terms of knowing as much as there is to know about something, being conversant in it, being persuasive. In those words to William F. Buckley, Jr., Rush Limbaugh epitomized my feelings for him. Had it not been for Rush Limbaughs indirect intervention into my life, I might have voted for Bill Clinton in 1992. So, to this day, I still have my mentor and my educator, and I can never thank him enough for pulling me threw one of the darkest hours of my life.
And yes, Rush Limbaugh is still The Passion.
