I believe that Barack Obama will defeat Hillary and win the Democratic nomination. I think that this weekend's victories in states as diverse as Washington State, Louisiana, Nebraska, and Maine illustrates his national appeal and demonstrates Hillary's inability to win in states without large immigrant and Latino populations. Hillary's results on Super Tuesday, which amounted to a draw with Obama, will be her high water mark and will represent the closest she will ever come to the party nomination. Right now, CBS has Obama ahead in elected delegates with 1134, while Hillary has only 1131.By the time Virginia, Maryland, DC,...

Carlton Jermaine Davis was sentenced for robbery in Ramsey County District Court. The 26-year-old faces 21 months in prison if he fails to complete probation. According to a criminal complaint, Davis approached the woman around 1 a.m. last Sept. 9 as she was leaving work and forced her to put her phone and purse inside a bag. A Carroll County mother is accusing one of the teachers at her son's elementary school of having inappropriate physical contact with her son, having him lick the teacher's toes in exchange for candy. The mother says she discovered what happened on Friday, when she saw a note, bearing the teacher's name in the signature, written in her 10-year-old son’s school yearbook. “I saw a note from a teacher, saying, ‘Good luck next year. Don't lick anyone else's toes. You're silly. Love, Mrs. Kilpatrick,’” said Denise Strozier, the student’s mother. “So, I'm, like, okay. What is this about licking somebody's toes?”...

"I thought that, as a timely reminder of the insincerity and emptiness of this 'liberty' cant, it would be fit to hear the musings and considered judgments of the neo-con infantry, the great Freeper horde at the blog of that name. A half-hour's examination of the frothy tirades and murderous incitements there would put any wavering mind out of doubt that what we have here is not a project for freedom and democracy, but, as the Freepers (who, being anonymous, do not dissemble their real opinions) readily fulminate, we have a racist war of civilizations, a comprehensive war against Muslims...

Pearl Jam Reads Reporter Riot Act by Josh Grossberg Apr 4, 2003, 11:00 AM PT Is Pearl Jam the next Dixie Chicks? On the defensive for some antiwar remarks at the opening show of their first North American tour in nearly three years, the grunge rockers are rejecting as media hype a report that there was a mass walkout by upset fans after lead singer Eddie Vedder impaled a mask of President Bush on a microphone stand during the encore. "There were close to 12,000 people at the April 1 Denver show. It's possible two dozen left during the encore,...

Incensed fans walked out of Pearl Jam's concert Tuesday after lead singer Eddie Vedder impaled a mask of President Bush on a microphone stand, then slammed it to the stage. Most of Vedder's antiwar remarks earlier in the Pepsi Center show were greeted with mixed cheers and scattered boos. But dozens of angry fans walked out during the encore because of the macabre display with the Bush mask, which he wore for the song Bushleaguer, a Bush- taunting song from the band's latest album, Riot Act. "When he was sharing his political views in a fairly benign manner - supporting...
