As the hunt for the perpetrators of the attacks in Paris continue, Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump said Monday that he is uniquely qualified to be commander-in-chief because he has an "instinct" for sensing threats. "In my book I predicted terrorism. Because I can feel it," said Trump, speaking to thousands of supporters packed into Tennessee's Knoxville Convention Center. While the French Navy Carrier Strike Group (CSG) was originally planned to deploy to the Persian Gulf, plan has now changed. Following the terrorist attacks in Paris, French President Hollande announced today that the Charles de Gaulle nuclear-powered aircraft carrier would leave its base on Thursday to deploy to the Eastern Mediteranean. Just thought about this: Russia and now FRANCE are bombing ISIS...but ISIS is trying to overthrow Assad. And Obama INSISTED that Assad had to go.... So why isn't Obama mad at Hollande and Putin for "popping off" and bombing ISIS? Weird.

Desperate world leaders today lined up to try to woo Russian President Vladimir Putin to back global efforts to defeat ISIS. For more than a year after relations with Moscow have been in the deep freeze over Russian incursions in Ukraine. But now Mr Putin is seen as holding the key to resolving the bloody civil war in Syria which has given rise to ISIS fanatics. It has led to the spectacle of US President Barack Obama, British PM David Cameron and Saudia Arabia's King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud posing for photos with the Russian President.

Minnesota Gov. Mark Dayton isn't objecting to the possible placement of Syrian refugees in his state as long as they undergo rigorous screening first. Dayton released a statement Monday saying he's been assured by the White House that any refugees from the war-torn country would be "subject to the highest level of security checks of any category of traveler to the United States."

President Obama wants more Syrian Muslim refugees in the West. Speaking in Turkey on Monday, Obama explained that the West needed to open its heart to Muslim refugees, who after all were fleeing from terrorism in the Middle East to the safe and warm arms of the West. Following Friday's deadly terrorist attacks in Paris linked to ISIS, Gov. Rick Snyder said he's made the decision to suspend efforts to bring Syrian refugees to Michigan. While acknowledging the state's "rich history of immigration" Snyder said the first priority needs to be protecting the safety of the state’s residents.
