Weather.com reported: Yes, there are blizzard warnings on Christmas Eve in Hawaii, where the two highest mountain peaks on the Big Island will see a White Christmas. Lower elevations will see thunderstorms and heavy rain and are under flash flood watches through this evening. There is also the risk of mudslides in steep terrain. Northern California faces a blizzard warning from late Wednesday until 1 p.m. Friday, with 10 to 20 inches of snow possible in communities above 6,000 feet, and as much as two to three feet of snow in northern Sierra communities. Wind gusts could exceed 80 mph in some areas, the Los Angeles Times reported. More than seven-and-a-half inches of rain is also expected in the Sierra Nevada, and the Bay Area could see more than three inches of rain. The National Weather Service office in Sacramento posted a warning .

BUFFALO - As temperatures near Buffalo, N.Y., rose above freezing on Saturday, volunteers fanned out to help their neighbours clear the walls of snow that have paralyzed parts of the region this week, but the warming trend also raised the threat of flooding. More than 200 volunteers, called the Shovel Brigade Mob, armed themselves with shovels and headed into neighbourhoods south of downtown Buffalo. The group said some residents were still stuck in their homes, days after a lake-effect system clobbered the region with up to seven feet of snow.

The cold front passed through Colorado today. I had a long drive home from Colorado Springs to NW of Golden. The roads had been warm so the snow initially melted, then froze when the temperature plummited. So many people driving way too fast. Saw so many wrecks and cars off in the ditch that I lost count.
