A livid Rev. Al Sharpton lashed out Saturday at Mayor Bloomberg, demanding an apology over Hizzoner’s claims that the NYPD’s stop-and-frisk policy targets too many whites. “The tone that has been set by that remark not only polarizes the city, it gives a false sense to police that they can step over the line,” Sharpton told a Harlem news conference.

The press conference with African-American surrogates for Andrew Cuomo slamming Carl Paladino's racist emails at City Hall last week was missing, as a few readers pointed out, one of the state's (and country's) most influential black leaders - the Rev. Al Sharpton. It's possible Sharpton was out of town, although his name wasn't on the press release. Sharpton has yet to say who he's backing in the governor's race (I've asked his spokeswoman). (CBS4) COCONUT CREEK Investigators say Kevin Mair, 25, of Plantation walked into his classroom Friday morning at Atlantic Technical Center in Coconut Creek using a cane and wearing the types of headphones used in a gun range. Surveillance tape was released by the police showing the suspect approaching one person and that person doubling over. They say he became agitated and displeased about the lack of black history courses being taught. (February is Black History Month.) The teacher asked Mair to leave and called for staff assistance. Broward school spokesman, Keith Bromery, said the student – who is an adult...

Whenever I start thinking about all the damage that's been done to America by the social engineering socialists, I have to remind myself that some of my best friends are left-wingers. That doesn't do much for my blood pressure, but at least it serves to remind me that they're not all as self-righteous as George Soros, as fatuous as Michael Moore, as smarmy as Jimmy Carter, as shrill as Nancy Pelosi, as hypocritical as George Murtha, Ted Kennedy and Robert C. Byrd, or as deceptive as Barack Obama, the fellow with the most liberal voting record in the U.S. Senate...

A black man who confessed to fatally knifing a White Plains woman because she was white was convicted yesterday of murder as a hate crime. A Westchester jury took just 4 1/2 - including 45 minutes spent re-watching his videotaped confession - to find Phillip Grant guilty of murder and possession of a weapon. "As long as she had blond hair and blue eyes, she had to die," Grant said on the video. Grant, 44, had admitted killing Concetta Russo-Carriero, 56, in the parking garage of the Galleria shopping mall, a block from the courthouse in downtown White Plains. He...

Rev. Al Sharpton got a surprise Tuesday during his national radio broadcast. The preacher was talking to Bill Cosby about his controversial speech at the Spellman College commencement, in which Cosby urged graduates to "pick up the pace" because "most [African-American men] are in prison." As Cosby took calls from listeners, a very special voice came on the line. It was the Natural Woman herself, Aretha Franklin, calling from her home in Detroit. The Queen of Soul backed Cosby's remarks. "It was the ultimate defense from the ultimate black woman," Sharpton told The Post's Stephanie Gaskell after the show. Continue...

January 20, 2006 - The Reverend Al Sharpton spoke Friday to a national black gay rights coalition meeting in Atlanta that believes engaging with pastors and clergy can help homosexuality become more acceptable by society. The activist-minister from New York opened his remarks to the group of about 150 by saying he grew up in a family that had a gay member. He did not identify that member, but he says he saw firsthand the bigotry that gay people confront. Sharpton, a Democrat, accused the Bush campaign of failing to address issues such as education, health care and jobs when...

MILWAUKEE -- It's the latest in a series of mob beatings in Milwaukee. This time, according to police, at least 15 young people dragged a man out of his car and kicked and punched him -- after the man honked at them to get them to move out of a street. The beating left the 50-year-old man with severe head trauma. He's hospitalized in critical condition and police said it's not clear if he'll survive. No arrests have been made. Three years ago, more than a dozen people chased a man through the streets of Milwaukee and beat him to...

July 6, 2005 -- A racist ex-con confessed that he fatally stabbed a beloved mother of two at a White Plains mall because he wanted "to kill a white person." "She was not innocent. She was white," convicted rapist Phillip Grant confessed in a chilling videotaped statement to cops that was played in White Plains City Court yesterday — the same day victim Concetta Russo Carriero was laid to rest. The 43-year-old homeless man told cops he had never laid eyes on Russo Carriero, 56, before he stabbed her in the chest twice last Wednesday on the seventh level of...

Activists staging a massive 2004 National Democratic Presidential Primary ran into some technical problems as a flood of Internet voters overwhelmed the Move.on.Org Web site and halted the voting process for more than an hour.About 50,000 people were able to cast electronic ballots for Democratic candidates on the advocacy site (which has pledged millions in financial support for the candidate who garners 50% support of the election total) before the system crashed at 11:15 Eastern Daylight Time. 'We had a much greater load than we expected all at once,' said Wes Boyd President of the Political Action Committee that organized...

SHARTPON'S SOUTHDemocratic party pollsters are buzzing about the possibility that [New York Civil Rights Activist] the Reverend Al Sharpton, generally dismissed as the party's gadfly, could actually score big in, of all places, the American South. They reason that Big Al will be attractive to blacks, who make up a large chunk of Dixie Dems. [and 40% of the early South Carolina voting Democratic Primary base]Which leads to another hot topic in Democratic circles: If a favorite other than Sharpton doesn't become obvious by late fall, look for a strong effort to draft Junior New York Senator [and Former First Lady]...

Like a 200 pound Alligator valise that turns out to be alive when you lift it, the Reverend Al Sharpton is turning out to be something the Democrats are unable to set down. One day out on his 'Show Me Some DNC Respect' 2004 Democratic Presidential Primary campaign and he is already starting to cause politcal pain for the Democrats. The man who brought us (false racist sexual accuser) Tawana Brawley is already playing the Vice Presidential card. Both Former Vermont Governor Howard Dean and Mass. United States Senator Bob Kerry claim Reverend Sharpton has offered them a place on the ticket. One can...
