January 20, 2006 - The Reverend Al Sharpton spoke Friday to a national black gay rights coalition meeting in Atlanta that believes engaging with pastors and clergy can help homosexuality become more acceptable by society. The activist-minister from New York opened his remarks to the group of about 150 by saying he grew up in a family that had a gay member. He did not identify that member, but he says he saw firsthand the bigotry that gay people confront.
Sharpton, a Democrat, accused the Bush campaign of failing to address issues such as education, health care and jobs when the president faced re-election. He accused Republicans instead of addressing negative issues in the black community.
The summit continues through Saturday at the First Iconium Baptist Church.
The National Black Justice Coalition is composed of black lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender activists.
"I have a scheme!!!!"
Al has a gay member?
Yeah, himself!
I am waiting for the Jewish connection and whether an abortion took place.
The fact that the media treats Sharpton with such reverence is proof positive of their bias and agenda.
Bill Clinton also remembers black churches being burned down through the South during his childhood.
It's about time the Rev Al started coming up with some crowd pleasing stories ... I mean, memories.
"Uhh huh huh, he said 'member.' Uh huh huh."
Two words that should not be in this exact order in a headline.
What a stinking pile! Al needed to give the equivalent of a Hillary "plantation" speech while he was there.
That kind of double standard is nothing new.
He keeps this up, Hillary will have to don the flannel shirt, bluejeans and Peterbuilt beltbuckle to try to convince everybody that SHE is a Lesbian.
Oh, wait a minute, she doesn't have to do that either.
Has to have a white relative this is a must.
Call me a skeptic if you must, but I have this nagging feeling that the Rev is lying through his capped teeth. |
My first thought, too. I hope the gay Sharpton wasn't a hairdresser - if so, he should lose his cosmetology license for what he's done to the Rev. Al's coif.
So Al had a mirror when he grew up ?
