In a new poll conducted by SurveyMonkey and reported by NBC, a clear majority of Americans want incoming flights from Ebola-stricken countries banned. 58% of Americans stated that they believed the flights should stop. A mere 20% of those polled are opposed to the flight ban, with 23% (the poll rounded up) undecided. A slight majority, 51%, feared a major outbreak of Ebola in the United States. This poll comes on the heels of President Obama, among other administration officials, stating that there will be no ban on flights from western Africa, where the virus is ravaging thousands of people....

Chile's President Michelle Bachelet saw her approval rating fall for the third straight month in September, though support for her key reforms improved, a poll showed on Thursday. Overall approval of the center-left president slipped 2 percentage points from August to 47 percent, said pollster Gfk Adimark, Bachelet's lowest rating in the monthly survey since returning to power in March. As well as flagging economic growth, there was a spate of bombings in capital Santiago in September, including one that left 14 people injured and another that left a man dead. Ahead of her second non-consecutive term, Bachelet promised an...
  • A Poll Accidentally Reveals the Truth

The Associated Press, in partnership with GfK, a German market research firm, jointly released a poll. No big deal there, as people release polls every hour or two, especially in election season. But this one was considered unusual, because it revealed a truth that scared the American Left to their very core: Americans don’t appear to trust government to solve their problems anymore. As with every poll, interpretation is dependent on whether we trust the questions to have been asked objectively (we don’t), whether the respondents were given a comprehensive and clear array of possible answers to choose (they never...

  • NJ Poll Puts Obama’s Performance Rating At All-Time Personal Low (41% in NJ!)

10/06/2014 6:21:57 PM PDT · by Red in Blue PA · 9 replies
WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J.(CBS) – A new poll suggests many New Jersey residents don’t have a lot of confidence in President Obama’s performance in office. That’s the assessment of the Monmouth University Polling Institute. Director Patrick Murray breaks down the numbers: “He’s got a 41-percent approve to 54-percent disapprove rating among the state’s voters. He does a little better among all adults…45-percent to 50-percent. But these are the worst numbers that we have ever recorded in our poll for President Obama since he took office in 2009.”

The leaders on Capitol Hill have long been unpopular with voters nationwide, but Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid’s favorability rating has taken a steep plunge this election year, showed a new poll released Monday. The Galup poll found that the favorability score for Mr. Reid, Nevada Democrat, dropped from 27 percent in April to 21 percent today. “Reid’s image has consistently tilted negative since he emerged as a nationally known figure in 2008.

There’s lots of talk about it. Last month, Scotland voted against it. In 2013, some residents in California, Colorado and Maryland signed petitions to do it. And Texas has toyed with the idea off and on for years. What is “it”? Secession! But it’s a lot more talk than anything else, according to a Fox News national poll that asked voters if they would support their state splitting off from the United States. Just nine percent said they would. The poll also gave people another option: What if you could boot other states out of the union? [Snip] Which state...
  • [Pew] Poll: Support for Gay marriage drops 5 pts

I submit that that prior polls showing support for Gay marriage should be taken with a grain of salt considering the atmosphere of intimidation that exists in the country today. Grand Haven Tribune reports a survey released Monday from the Pew Research Center indicates American support for same-sex marriage could be leveling off after several years of dramatic growth in acceptance of equal rights for gays and lesbians. The study’s authors caution it’s too soon to draw any definitive conclusions. But the new poll released Monday found a 5 percentage point drop since February, from 54 percent to 49 percent,...

Barack Obama’s approval rating slid into dangerous territory this week, with the latest Reuters-Ipsos poll showing just 35 percent of Americans approve of the president’s job performance even as he leads the nation into a war against Islamic fundamentalism in the Middle East. Fifty-eight percent of Americans expressed disapproval of the White House’s current occupant — 37 percent of them “strongly.” Just 17 percent strongly approved of Obama’s current performance. The poll is based on a five-day rolling average. The White House has struggled under a series of escalating foreign-policy crises, at times appearing to flail for a response to...

At this point, 55% of Americans choose the GOP on this dimension, while 32% choose the Democratic Party. This is the widest Republican advantage in Gallup's history of asking this question since 2002.
