Martin’s parents, Sybrina Fulton and Tracy Martin, took the stage at Florida Memorial University’s commencement in Miami Gardens to receive a posthumous bachelor’s degree in aeronautical science on their son’s behalf. The mood on migration in Sweden appears to have shifted dramatically this year, with a majority of people now saying they want the Nordic nation to take in fewer asylum seekers. The most recent survey, conducted in autumn and winter, found that 52 per cent of respondents said Sweden should slow the migrant flow, with only 26 per cent opposed to the idea. A Banks County sheriff’s deputy was shot in the chest at the Tanger Outlet mall in Commerce about 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, the sheriff’s office said. He was wearing a bulletproof vest and is expected to be OK, GBI spokeswoman Nelly Miles said. Deputies first responded to a reported armed robbery in progress at the Atlanta Dragway, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. The suspect stole a car and drove toward the outlet mall.

The New York Times published an op-ed Monday by New York University comparative literature professor Ulrich Baer, who argued that those young protesters derided as campus "snowflakes" who violently oppose speakers who offend leftist sensibilities are actually getting it right about free speech. A leading Church of England vicar yesterday condemned the words of one of the country’s best-loved hymns as obscene, offensive and unfit to be sung by Christians. The Reverend Gordon Giles, one of the Anglicans’ leading authorities on hymns, declared that I Vow to Thee My Country should be rewritten if it is to be sung by modern congregations. When discussing the strike, Pentagon officials referred to the GBU-43 Massive Ordnance Air Blast weapon, or MOAB, by its nickname, "the mother of all bombs."
