The Rt Rev Stephen Venner called for a more sympathetic approach to the Islamic fundamentalists that recognises their humanity. The Church of England’s Bishop to the Forces warned that it will be harder to reach a peaceful solution to the war if the Afghan insurgents are portrayed too negatively. His comments came as the Prime Minister visited Afghanistan and warned that the Taliban was fighting a "guerilla war" aimed at causing "maximum damage". Gordon Brown said soldiers were discovering improvised explosive devices every two hours. Mr Brown stayed overnight in the Allied base in the southern city of Kandahar, the...

A branch of the University of Minnesota may require all education students at the school to understand and accept that they are either privileged or oppressed and that they be well-versed in issues like "white privilege," "institutional racism” and the "myth of meritocracy in the United States." Critics are condemning the Race, Culture, Class and Gender Task Group at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, which proposes making race, class and gender issues the "overarching framework" of all teaching courses. The task group, formed as part of the Teacher Education Redesign Initiative at the state university, aims to change how...

It happened again on Wednesday, December 9, 2009, less than a month after the incident aboard AirTran Flight 297. United Airlines Flight 227, scheduled to depart Denver International Airport at 1:50 pm Wednesday for Los Angeles was disrupted when several passengers who were described as Middle Eastern in appearance, confirmed by this investigator to be a group of Muslims traveling together, were removed from that aircraft due to suspicious behavior that originated in the terminal and continued to the airplane.

First, Colorado State University voted to ban concealed firearms on campus. Then the University of Colorado went a few steps further and cracked down on another nefarious threat: Nerf guns. Plans for a student-led game of humans vs. zombies took a hit after campus security officials discovered that players intended to use the popular orange-and-green toy weaponry. Simulated guns, even those that shoot spongy Nerf balls, are banned at the University of Colorado. (snip) CU spokesman Bronson Hilliard said students cooperated fully, replacing the Nerf guns with balled-up socks and even taking it upon themselves to hang fliers in dormitories...

For the past 28 years, the village of Amelia, Ohio, has hosted a Christmas parade. It won't this year. One person threatened village mayor Leroy Ellington with legal action. Rather than duke it out, Ellington caved. He offered to host a " Holiday Parade." Village residents told Ellington where to stick the "Holiday Parade." Each year, it comes to this, a facile attempt to take the name "Christmas" from the Christmas season. How did we get to the point of political correctness where saying "Merry Christmas" risks a lawsuit or being kicked out of school? Christmas Day, Dec. 25, honors...

It is well known that the Far Left and Islamic terrorists are in cahoots, as are liberals and “moderate” Muslims. Both sides are using the other as “useful idiots” to further their agendas—one ideological, and the other theological. One is using clandestine sabotage and subterfuge, while the other openly promotes global jihad. Their common enemy is the “Great Satan” of the United States of America, which they agree, must be destroyed in order for their plans to proceed. For the time being, they are in league with one another...

A Canadian administrative judge's demand for a $5,000 penalty and a written apology from a man who criticized homosexuality in a letter to his local newspaper has been overturned on appeal, but experts on such "hate speech" disputes say the case is not a complete victory for free speech. The judgment was announced this week by the Alliance Defense Fund in the case of Stephen Boissoin and the Concerned Christian Coalition, which had been determined by the Alberta, Canada, Human Rights Commission to have violated a "hate speech" law. Alberta had adopted the law with promises that it never would...

Are you sick and tired of how liberal political correctness has attempted to eliminate the "Christ" out of "Christmas," by replacing it with the more "tolerant," and acceptable "Happy Holidays," or even "Winter Solstice"? Are you fed-up with businesses being bullied into prohibiting their employees from greeting customers using, "Merry Christmas"?

Roughly a month since the worst Islamic terrorist attack on US soil since 911, the FBI is going to investigate how things were handled with Hasan before the attack. That is great, but the reality is that no matter what guidelines are put into place, if everyone is afraid to enforce them out of political correctness the guidelines will not matter. They will be meaningless, just like our immigration laws. F.B.I. Sets New Review of Shootings at Ft. Hood

Defunct Republican Club Limits Oxy's Political Discourse After a dwindling presence on campus, the Republican club ceased to exist two years ago and has not been restarted, to the dismay of several students and faculty. Devon Puglia '08, a registered Democrat, was the President of the Republican club from '06 - '08. He said, "[The club] was very small and informal during my time, and by my senior year it was just me." He described Oxy professors and students being hostile to political opinion that didn't conform to the school's prevailing liberal ideology. "I'm sure there are plenty of...

Christian legal fellowship groups provide a vital spiritual lifeline for law students trying to survive the rigors of law school with faith intact. Most of the more than 150 such student groups at U.S. law schools (see my lower sidebar list of links) are sponsored by the Christian Legal Society (CLS). But the ability of these groups to continue functioning at public universities has been in doubt since the University of California Hastings College of the Law's recent refusal to recognize its CLS chapter. The law school objects to the group's requirement that officers and voting members subscribe to Christian beliefs. In Christian Legal...

When the history of the War on Terror is written, 2009 may be seen as the year the enemy began to shift from Islamist terrorists outside the US to homegrown Jihadists. Despite the fact that it was predicted two years ago, many are still surprised (or unwilling to recognize), the Islamist threat from within. Back in 2007 the Council on Foreign Relations reported: Experts say it is quite likely the next terrorist attack in the United States will not be the work of well-trained al-Qaeda operatives sent from abroad, but rather that of an American citizen. As al-Qaeda leaders focus...

Politically Correctness is intended to politicize not civilize a society. It is said to be racially motivated to question a morally twisted Middle-Eastern Army Officer shouting “Allah Akbar” before his shooting rampage toward his fellow countrymen, and yet it is not so to omit the WASP from the racial compositions of American society in a Social Study. “No one said anything about the WASP race, why is that?” asked my mixed-races 9 year old daughter. It was the WASP Americans who framed and founded this Republic, and Politically Correctness views other races as inferior to this supreme achievement. If the...

Please excuse the Vanity post - I am desperate! I have a new PC with Windows 7. At odd times I loose the Internet connection. I know cable internet signal is coming through the router as other PCs in the system have connections. At first the lost connection was happening each time I would reboot. Now it happens at seemingly "random" times .... I realize it's probly not random, but I can't see a correlation yet ... and the connection usually comes back when I reboot again. The Dell tech support wants me to reinstall the windows software. That would...

Political correctness rearing its ugly head AGAIN? Our good friend Andy McCarthy reveals the shenanigans at Fort Hood continue in the name of what, political correctness, sensitivity? Just weeks after an Islamic terrorist guns down 13 people, 12 soldiers, it’s the US Army that’s getting the lecture on political correctness? It’s been brought to my attention by several reliable sources that the Defense Department has brought Louay Safi to Fort Hood as an instructor, and that he has been lecturing on Islam to our troops in Fort Hood who are about to deploy to Afghanistan. Safi is a top official...

.... here's another one for the bulging files: Two Cambridge academics have voiced their dismay at the news that all references to Christmas have been dropped from the switching-on ceremony for Dundee’s festive lights. Instead of the traditional Christmas Lights switch-on, The Times newspaper reported that residents will be attending the 'Dundee Winter Light Night'. Council officials have also decided that rather than a retelling of the Nativity story there will be a disco, a contemporary circus, a continental market and a seven foot fairy on stilts. That's another reason to resist this stuff - not merely because it's an act...

CHRISTMAS IN JAPAN can be a little lonely and isolated for the Westerner here. What with the distance from “home” and cultural differences. Little things, here and there. Missing some of the usual things from back home, especially for people like one particular 'American in Tokyo'. This year 2009 is again no different. However, in many respects I must say there is nevertheless one little thing that is so refreshing about being stuck in Japan during Christmas—after a few years—and for the occasions one cannot make it back "home". It is almost like the clock has been refreshingly and...

The war on Christmas continues. Here is a picture of the national Best Buy ad inviting folks to celebrate Thanksgiving and . . . Eid al-Adha, which is a Muslim festival of sacrifice. It’s actually a festival that sacrifices of goats in similitude of Abraham’s willingness to sacrifice his son. Best Buy adNow, I have nothing against Best Buy celebrating a Muslim holiday, in fact I think it’s a wonderfully inclusive thing to do. No, the problem I have is that in 2006 Best Buy discontinued the use of “Merry Christmas” in their holiday advertising. Here is a posting from...

Today’s world can be quite a confusing place. It was only short decades ago that everyone woke up in the morning and knew exactly who and what they were. If you were lucky enough to wake up in the U.S.A., you stood a pretty good chance of being better off than you were the day before. You also knew right from wrong, and what it meant to be a good citizen. You knew what you admired in your leaders and what to expect when you voted for them. You knew all these things because people spoke often of them in...

If the Ft. Hood terrorist attack teaches us anything, it should teach us that Political Correctness will kill this country. Every day we find out another example of Major Hasan telegraphed his Islamist intentions and the higher ups in the military did nothing for fear of offending the Muslim community. But it go way beyond Major Hasan, our government still interacts with terrorist supporting organizations such as CAIR, Islamic Society of North America (ISNA), the Muslim Students Association, the Muslim American Society who are all children of the Muslim Brotherhood. We even walked away from the word terrorism for "man...

If so, that belief may soon bar you from getting a license to teach in Minnesota public schools -- at least if you plan to get your teaching degree at the University of Minnesota's Twin Cities campus.

The PC-Police be dammed ! When Keith Ellison ran for and was elected to congress in the 2006 mid-term election he was the darling of the PC world and the Democratic leadership -- America's First Muslim Congressman a perfect example of the diversity of this nation. Despite the fact that there were warning signs about his "friends". Soon after his election he joined with the most powerful woman in the world, Nancy Pelosi to try and create a federal law against profiling. Its no wonder the PC police loved him. LEXINGTON, Va. — Virginia Military Institute is defending itself against a lengthy investigation into accusations that the school's policies are sexist and hostile toward female cadets, a dozen years after women won the right to enroll. The federal Department of Education's Office for Civil Rights has an ongoing investigation of a sex discrimination complaint at the small, state-supported school that so far has taken nearly a year and a half — three times longer than usual. Defenders say VMI has worked hard to recruit women and make them comfortable since the U.S. Supreme Court ordered co-education in 1997, but women...

Nothing like the world of political correctness. In its desire to have something for everybody, the Mattel Corporation has decided to create a Barbie Doll wearing the symbol of the harsh Islamist Repression of women: One of the world's most famous children's toys, Barbie, has been given a makeover - wearing a burkha. Wearing the traditional Islamic dress, the iconic doll is going undercover for a charity auction in connection with Sotheby's for Save The Children. The most prominent defenders of the University of North Dakota's right to call its teams the Fighting Sioux are neither alumni nor hockey fans. They're Sioux. A group of Spirit Lake Sioux won a temporary restraining order last week to stop the North Dakota University System from retiring the nickname and logo, one of the last in the country associated with an American Indian tribe. A hearing for a preliminary injunction is slated for Dec. 9 in Ramsey County District Court in Devils Lake, N.D. Most such university team names have been abandoned in the face of criticism that they...

The mayor of North Pole, Alaska is calling a recent postal service decision an assault on Christmas. For years, the U.S. Postal Service has delivered thousands of letters to Santa Claus in North Pole, Alaska. Now, in the interest of efficiency and security, the post office has changed its policy. It will no longer deliver letters to Santa here, and requests for a North Pole postmark will be filled through its Anchorage office. The decision has angered many residents, most notably the owner of the area’s primary attraction, the Santa Claus house.

Almost every day since the Major Nidal Hasan waged a horrific terror attack against his fellow soldiers at Fort Hood two weeks ago, there has been another part of Nidal's history revealed that should have raised a red flag about the Palestinian Islamist. Many of the revelations surround radical Imam, Anwar al Awlaki. When it was first revealed that Hasan had contacted the Imam via E-mail, we were told that the correspondence was very benign, it fit in with the research he was doing on PTSD. According to a new report, the emails were not as mainstream as initially reported:

Army officials plan to prevent media from covering Sarah Palin's appearance at Fort Bragg on Monday, saying they fear the event will turn into political grandstanding against President Barack Obama. Fort Bragg spokesman Tom McCollum told The Associated Press on Thursday that Army officials had decided to keep media away from Palin's book promotion at the North Carolina base. SNIP McCollum said the Army did not want the event to become a platform for Palin supporters to express political opinions "directed against the commander in chief."

WASHINGTON (AP) - Defense Secretary Robert Gates has tapped a former senior defense official to lead a broad Pentagon review of the circumstances surrounding the Fort Hood shootings, The Associated Press has learned. Defense Secretary Robert Gates will announce Thursday that the unified review will involve a number of components, and will call for a quick, short-term report, followed by a longer, more extensive study, according to an administration official. Components of the wide-ranging probe could include self-examinations by the Army and the military's medical community, and likely look at personnel policies and the availability of mental health services for...

The Council on American-Islamic relations (CAIR) is an organization created with the intent to fund Hamas. It was named an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Terror funding trial case. In one key piece of Wiretap evidence presented in the case CAIR's executive director, Nihad Awad, was found at a Philadelphia meeting of Hamas leaders secretly recorded by the FBI. Participants hatched a plot to deceive Americans and disguise payments to Hamas as it launched a campaign of terror attacks. In other words, THEY BROKE THE THE LAW. Beyond the support of terrorism, CAIR has been working to guilt non-Muslims...

‘You see, Pinocchio,” said the Blue Fairy, “a lie keeps growing and growing until it’s as plain as the nose on your face.” Sadly, this simple lesson, once taught only to small children, must be taught again to “grown-ups” who have conditioned our culture, our politicians and even our armed forces to deny and ignore the grave threats we face. But today the lies are called “political correctness,” and the consequences can be death. Far more dangerous than Maj. Nidal Hasan’s heinous act at Fort Hood is our collective refusal to see it for what it is: a terrorist act...

Encyclopedia of Race and Racism Published by Macmillan Reference USA The Encyclopedia of Race and Racism is the first such work examining the anthropological, sociological, historical, economic, and scientific theories of race and racism in the modern era. The set delves into the historic origins of ideas of race and racism and explores their social and scientific consequences. Some of the nearly 400 articles address broad theoretical topics that have helped to shape modern ideas about race and racism; others address more specific subjects in the larger fields. Political Correctness does not apply to all groups, especially in the academic...

It’s that most wonderful time of the year. The political and media world today seems to revolve around polls. A day does not by that we are treated to a poll result of some sort on subjects both timely and inane. This now substitutes, within the mainstream media, for news and real reporting. Notwithstanding the fact that polling can be manipulated (and has shown to be numerous times), the use of these surveys has become a religion within the halls of Congress and the White House, and a justification to pursue agenda items. As a result many point to the still-high job approval rating of President Obama as...

After a week of blame throwing centered around the Fort Hood shooting, including a round of highly placed stories leaked by anonymous government sources, the shooters motivations are still cloudy. Was he motivated by radical jihadist hatred of America, mental illness, alienation, fear of deployment, or all of the above? As details emerge, President Barack Obama has called for a review of all intelligence surrounding Hasan and whether agencies shared information and acted correctly. The review, headed by John Brenan, assistant to the president for homeland security, is due Nov. 30th. Meanwhile the critics on the right are using the...

VIDEO: Glenn Beck returned to the airwaves on Thursday after a short absence to have an emergency appendectomy. At the top of Glenn's list was the political correctness run amok in the Left's hellbent, politically correct urge to describe the Fort Hood terrorist as anything but "extremist". It's pathetic how the Left, including the president, can "jump to conclusions" about every imaginary, far-fetched possible motive, except the most obvious: He was an extremist, Muslim terrorist!

The cost of our political classes’ obsession with multiculturalism and Political Correctness is not just sanctimonious news conferences and racial special interest groups. It’s death and injury as residents were reminded last week. We were reintroduced to Anastacio Miranda, an illegal alien in PWC doing work Americans didn’t want to do. Unfortunately, while making his vital contribution to the economy, Miranda found time in his off-hours to murder three people and shoot two others after a toddler’s birthday party. Later we learned Maj. L. Eduardo Caraveo, a Woodbridge resident, was a victim of Fort Hood Muslim murderer Nidal Hasan. Naturally,...

It started out as a mild virus initiated by the left of center intellectuals of academia. But, like every virus from computer carried to influenza, it spread rapidly through schools, hospitals, civil service, the media, companies, governance and the armed forces. Political correctness has poisoned all of America. The famed author of children’s books, Anthony Browne has also written a telling examination of political correctness in The Retreat of Reason. Says Browne, “Political correctness is the ‘heresy of liberalism’ under which reliance on reason has been replaced on the emotional appeal of an argument. Adopting certain positions makes the politically...

Even as America comes to the grips with the terrorist attack that took place at Fort Hood, it seem that Major Nidal Malik Hasan’s unindicted co-conspirator, “political correctness,” has yet again claimed the lives of innocent Americans. It seems that Hasan’s Superiors were well aware of his fascination with radical Islam as junior officers grew more concerned with his attitude and radical ramblings, yet rather than confront or investigate Major Hasan, his superior at Walter Reed took the political correct or chicken-shit way out and simply transferred this disgruntled officer to another command to be someone else’s problem. Those superiors,...

With the Lovefest going on at the W.H. and MSM over Nidal Hasan's victimization, I'd like to take this opportunity, in light of our recent celebration of Veteran's Day, to identify Hasan for what he truly is. Nidal Hasan is a cowardly anti-American, anti-liberty, anti-women, anti-Lord, Sharia Law loving, card carrying "Slave to Allah" Jihadist, murderer, terrorist cell whom on Nov. 5 carried out what he had always intended to do, which is to say, in cowardly fashion, gunned down unsuspecting, unarmed servicemen in the name of Allah. The fact that the terrorist was dispatched by a petite American woman...

An Austin congressman said Thursday that he has confirmed that Fort Hood massacre suspect Nidal Malik Hasan wired money to Pakistan, which Muslim extremist groups use as a base to raise funds and carry out terrorist attacks. Rep. Michael McCaul's statement followed a Dallas Morning News report that authorities were looking into whether such wire transfers had occurred. It also came as Army officials announced charges of premeditated murder against Hasan, who could face the death penalty.
