(VIDEO-AT-LINK)In three months, gun owners with a concealed handgun license will be able to openly carry in the state of Texas. Many North Texas gun ranges say they are doubling their education courses before the law goes into effect. At the Eagle Gun Range in Lewisville, they are just starting to see a small uptick in concealed handgun license classes. "It is a big change to openly carry. You don't want to make a mistake," said Eagle Gun Range president David Prince. Prince is adding classes so that people fully understand the new law. "We are putting on seminars at...

I arrived at the 2015 Gun Rights Policy Conference on Friday afternoon, 25 September, at about 1600 (4 p.m.). I was openly carrying my old Glock 17, as I usually do. It was an unseasonably warm late September day, with the temperature at 103. There had been some Internet rumors about the Sheraton Crescent banning open carry; I had not seen anything in my contract with them or any sign on the door. When I was there a few years ago at the Arizona Citizen Defense League annual meeting, the room had been full of open carriers. I had...

I have been a customer of the UPS Stores in Yuma for years. I used their services to prepare targets and handouts for the concealed carry courses that I taught. They have always been open carry friendly and have been very helpful. A few days ago, I was having a few copies made. I had purchased their pre-paid copy cards, and had enough left over to last me for quite a while. Lupe Paz was behind the counter and asked me if I was carrying a Glock .40. I said no, it was a 9 mm. We had a...

Two weeks ago, Sam Andrews announced that the Oath Keepers, a group of current and former members of the military and police who have pledged to refuse unconstitutional orders, were going to sponsor a march of black men armed with AR-15s in Ferguson, Missouri. Now Andrews has left the organization, charging Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes with holding a "racist double standard" for when it's acceptable to confront cops. Rhodes strongly denies this, calling Andrews a "lying sociopath." Andrews charges Rhodes with hypocrisy, complaining that the man "was perfectly willing to 'confront the cops' at Bundy Ranch, but is unwilling...

On May 4th 2015, Richard Chambliss was arrested by the Bald Knob Police Department (BKPD) for carrying a weapon, despite Arkansas Act 746, which allows the carrying of a weapon. After realizing the open carry charge would likely not hold, a madeup charge of disorderly conduct was added. The BKPD Chief of Police, Judge, & prosecuting attorney appear to oppose Act 746 & the 2nd amendment in general. The previous police chief was fired by Mayor Mary Beth Calhoun in January 2015, possibly due to politics, & replaced him with current Police Chief Erek Balantine. Balantine had been charged with...

I was on the security detail at The Vertical Church on Sunday. I noticed that Jeremy was open carrying, so I asked him if I could take a picture after the service. He was kind enough to wait with his lovely wife until I handed off to the next volunteer. Then we stepped outside to take the picture. The lobby was fairly crowded. We are having record numbers attend for August in Yuma! The can in his left hand is non-alcoholic, they are sold in the Church lobby. The pistol is a Sig Sauer P220 in .45 ACP. Carrying...

The pistol range at the Ranch needed some trimming, so I stopped at Harbor Freight to pick up some inexpensive tools. That is a bow saw on the counter. The couple behind me were gracious and volunteered to take my picture. Hispanic? Black? Caucasian? Mixed? I could not tell, but they were the type of people that a civilization needs to thrive. I thought they might be immigrants, but their English was perfect and colloquial. Yuma is a pretty cosmopolitan place. They were polite, helpful, and friendly. Courtni, the clerk at the counter, was also helpful and friendly. She...

I walked up to a checkout line at the Wal-Mart, and was pleased to see another open carrier ahead of me. I asked if I could take his picture. He was pleasant and accommodating. I heard him joking with the checkout lady. It was obvious that he was a regular customer. It looks like a real working outfit to me, not one worn just for style. He agreed to have another picture taken in the entrance, to show the pistol a bit more clearly. We talked for a bit about the few locations that still ban guns in Yuma....

Ferguson, Missouri – The Missouri chapter of the Oath Keepers are planning to hold an open carry march through downtown Ferguson, Mo., which will reportedly involve arming 50 black protestors with AR-15 rifles. The decision to hold the event transpired after St. Louis County officials, in violation of Missouri’s open carry law, insisted that members of the group could not open carry long barrel rifles within the city. In a video uploaded to YouTube, police chief Jon Belmar is seen warning a number of Oath Keepers that open carrying long barrel rifles would be a violation of the law. “My...

On August 4th Plymouth County Sheriff's department Sgt. Rick Singer stopped a man legally openly carrying a holstered pistol while walking. Sgt. Singer asked for the man's permit, which was presented. Sergent Singer would not accept the legal permit. He persistently demanded a "paper permit" which he said was the "legal permit". He keeps saying that the permit is simply a "courtesy card" He was wrong, but he illegally confiscated the open carriers permit. The entire affair was recorded on video: Link to video The Sergeant claims that the picture on the permit is not recognizable, but wants...

Oathkeeper protecting local businesses in Ferguson MO, 2014 The far left Southern Poverty Law Center has smeared the Oathkeepers as "fiercely anti-government" when in fact the core reason of the Oathkeepers is to protect Constitutional Government. Last year the Oathkeepers helped to protect private property and innocent people in Ferguson. Not surprisingly, politicians who wanted to divide the races were not happy about it. From nbcnews.com: Patricia Bynes, Democratic Committeewoman of Ferguson Township, went to check on the protests early Tuesday and was surprised to find the Oath Keepers amid a heavy police presence. "They just showed up, walking...

Michigan allows people with concealed carry permits to carry guns in schools, with a twist; the guns have to be openly carried in the school. Michigan preemption law prevents local units of government from enacting a patchwork or local, contradictory laws, many of which violate basic Second Amendment rights. MCL 123.1101(a) and MCL 123.1102 preempt local units of government from regulating firearms. School Districts are local units of government. In Michigan, a number of school districts are unwilling to abide by State law, and routinely violate it. A lawsuit was filed in March. From Michigan miopencarry.org: As set forth...

When I was on vacation to the Meteor Crater in Arizona, I open carried into the museum and display area, and on the tour. The guard/ticket seller at the front entrance never blinked. I listened to the tour guide tell us of some of the history, and I asked a question or two. I must have caught the attention of a presumably Navajo grandmother with her family. She might have been my age, give or take a few years. She asked me if I believed what the tour guide had told us. I said that I believed most of...

Michigan Officer Shells Out $35,000 For Open Carry Stop Posted by Bob Owens on July 30, 2015 at 2:03 pm ï‚‚ Somehow, I donÂ’t think Flint Township Police will be stopping people who open carry firearms any time soon unless they have a darn good reason. A man who claimed he was wrongfully arrested on Christmas Eve while legally open-carrying his pistol has reached a $35,000 settlement with the officer who stopped him, according to the manÂ’s attorney. John David McMorris reached the agreement Tuesday, July 28, after he sued Flint Township Police and Sgt. Russell Fries following his Dec....

ADulay, a regular contributor to opencarry.org, wrote about the open carry event that was held in Tampa over the weekend. From opencarry.org: For those of you who could not make this meeting, here's a very quick synopsis of what you missed. Just over 50 guys, all open carrying, showed up with fishing gear, donuts, coffee and a great attitude. No police anywhere near the place. Lots of civilian people fishing and no problems with that at all. Several questions from curious people and most, if not all were amazed at the laws in Florida. I can only assume that...

A Marine veteran standing guard outside an Armed Forces Recruiting Center has been told he is no longer welcome and ordered off the property. Matthew Benack took up a sentry post outside the Center in Jacksonville, Fla., in response to the deadly attack on five members of the U.S. military last week in Chattanooga, Tenn., WNCT reported. Police said the vet was within his constitutional rights to have a loaded weapon outside the center as long as the unidentified property owner gave permission.

In some countries, such as Israel and Switzerland, it is common to see people walking around with slung military rifles. No one except tourists pay much attention. The United States is split. In areas where the gun culture is entrenched and accepted (most of the land area of the U.S.) nobody pays much attention, but it is more unusual than in Switzerland. In areas where the gun culture is reviled by the local powers that be, it can land you in trouble. There are five states that ban the open carry of firearms in most public places. They are...

Gresham man robbed of gun he was openly carryingA man practicing his open carry right was robbed of the gun he was openly carrying. William Coleman III was robbed of his Walter- brand P22 just after 2:00 a.m. October 4 in Gresham by a young man who asked him for it — and flashed his own weapon as persuasion. Coleman, 21, was talking to his cousin in the 17200 block of NE Glisan St., after purchasing the handgun earlier that day, when a young man asked him for a cigarette, police said. The man then asked about the gun, pulled...

This model is carrying the "edgy" cell phone holder in about the worst or *best* way to make it sensational. The choice of black holder, black phone and black shorts does the most to make the holder look as though a pistol is in the back pocket. It does not hold up to close inspection. From japantrendshop.com: More a piece of equipment than a regular "cover," the Gun Grip Case transforms your iPhone 5 into a handgun! Available in black, white or pink, this fake "pistol" works with an app so you can interact with a digital version of...

On my recent vacation to Meteor Crater and environs, I stopped at the rest areas along the way to check and see if the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) had done its job. They needed to replace old signs that illegally banned guns in the rest areas. When other travellers were available, I had them take my picture for use in this and future articles. After the pretty young woman holding the child took my picture, I asked if I could take hers. She was happy to pose for me. Here is the picture she took of me at...
