In three months, gun owners with a concealed handgun license will be able to openly carry in the state of Texas.
Many North Texas gun ranges say they are doubling their education courses before the law goes into effect.
At the Eagle Gun Range in Lewisville, they are just starting to see a small uptick in concealed handgun license classes.
"It is a big change to openly carry. You don't want to make a mistake," said Eagle Gun Range president David Prince.
Prince is adding classes so that people fully understand the new law.
"We are putting on seminars at least once a month now. We are probably on going to go to twice a month since it's getting closer to Jan. 1," he said.
A big change in the new law requires a business to have two signs if the owner wants to prohibit guns. Right now, a business owner needs one sign, in both English and Spanish, telling patrons that concealed carry guns are not allowed....

Agree ..... btw new additional signs for open carry 30.07 in addition to 30.06 could be fun. Find every silly store or shop in you area that DOESNT have the new 30.07 sign but only the 30.06 sign . Open carry an enter and watch their heads explode..... if yer bored on a weekday kind of fun !! 30.06 only addresses the CONCEALED handgun....:o)

When I was a pampered and licensed sheep dipped contractor to an alphabet agency I was assigned to an office in Jamaica Queens up on Hillside. Used to walk to lunch in summer without my jacket to hide my holstered Sig Sauer P220 ..... never got bothered. Seems a gun in NYC is same as a badge to the sheeple there .... never got bothered . Even the uniform cops let me be.....

Use a holster. Under Texas Penal Code 46.15(b) (6), a person carrying a valid CHL may carry a handgun either in a concealed manner or in a shoulder or belt holster. Under these new provisions, if the handgun is carried any other way, a person would be unlawfully carrying the handgun.
FYI. I have seen some discussions on some gun forums as to what constitutes a belt holster and that a 'clip-on' or 'paddle' style holster are not 'attached' to the belt and subject to interpretation by LE.

Why would there need to be a second sign in Spanish?

I don’t like that they limit open carry to only those who have a CCW. When I was in Colorado open carry was for anyone.
