America’s political sphere is becoming a place where outcomes considered unthinkable in the past are becoming reality. This can almost entirely be attributed to the rise of populism. In recent decades, the ruling-class has presided over a disastrous foreign policy, deep economic recessions and the diminishment of human rights. Now, it appears the people have had enough. Whether you love them or loath them, Trump, Bernie, Ocasio-Cortez, Patriot Prayer and Antifa are all the expression of the citizens’ demand for change. But these populist uprisings are not confined to the federal level. A man by the name of Ryan Bundy...

In 2016, anti-Second Amendment zealot Michael Bloomberg, was able to place Question 1, severe restrictions on private gun sales, on the ballot in Nevada. The Bloomberg supported initiative outspent the opposition $18,913,032.54 to $6,639,608.20. The costs do not include the money spent to put the initiative on the ballot. The measure passed 558,631 votes to 548,732 votes. Rural areas overwhelmingly voted against the measure; Las Vegas voters overwhelmingly voted for it. After the initiative passed, it could not be implemented, because it required the state to demand things the State of Nevada had no legal right to demand. The...

A District Court judge this week refused to bail out sponsors of a voter-approved gun background check initiative that has yet to be implemented due to problems inherent in the measure’s language. It was the right decision. Nevada’s Question 1 passed in 2016 by less than 1 percentage point and mandated background checks on private-party gun sales and transfers. In order to mute opposition about the potential costs of such reviews, those who wrote the proposal made the calculated decision to require that licensed dealers run the checks through the FBI’s National Instant Criminal Background Check System rather than use...

Carson City, NV – Today, Nevada Attorney General Adam Laxalt applauded a Nevada District Court’s decision to toss out a lawsuit brought by the proponents of Nevada’s stillborn Background Check Act, also known as Question 1. The lawsuit sought to shift the blame for the broken initiative from its drafters to Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt and Nevada Governor Brian Sandoval. The Court, in a comprehensive 22-page opinion, ruled that “as a matter of law, […] given the undisputed efforts to implement The Background Check Act, it is unenforceable as written.” The Court rejected each of the proponents’ legal...

Way out in Nevada, the secret base from Independence Day — yes, Area 51 — is hiring a pilot for the only airline that flies direct to the secluded destination. Janet Air — as in “Just Another Non Existent Terminal” — flies a nondescript red-striped fleet of 737s from Las Vegas to various sandy, high-security government outposts where, as in Vegas, what goes on there stays there. The job posting in question is looking for a 3,000-hour pilot with an active Top Secret clearance and little interest in what their passengers do at work. According to salary research site Glassdoor,...
